Chapter 97: Chapter 88: Meeting Celestial Master Xu for the First Time

Wang Qianzhi... No! It was Prince Qi. He was involved with the Direct Disciples of the Profound Array Department!

As soon as this thought emerged, Zeng Anmin was absolutely certain of it. Furthermore, Wang Qianzhi had known the incense in his hand was Agarwood. His accidental entry into the Illusion Array that day had been no coincidence. Wang Qianzhi had done it on purpose! He wanted to exploit the drawback of the Agarwood to make Zeng Anmin perform terribly in the Illusion Array.

Thinking back to the assessment that day, Zeng Anmin felt a sudden chill rise from the back of his neck. If he hadn’t possessed his Golden Finger’s [Unyielding Martial God], he definitely would have performed terribly in the Illusion Array. In that case, his official career would have been instantly ruined. If someone with ulterior motives were to make his assessment results public, even his father might be implicated! At this thought, a fleeting glint of coldness flashed through Zeng Anmin’s eyes.

He thought, "Wang Qianzhi, is it? Prince Qi, is it? Very well, you have already crossed my bottom line. Just wait for your deaths!"

BUZZ.

While Zeng Anmin was deep in thought, an almost imperceptible sound came from the doorway.

SWISH.

Sai Chuxue sprang up from the bed and trotted over to the door. A short while later, she returned carrying a wooden box.

CLACK.

She placed the wooden box on the table. Upon opening it, a mouth-watering aroma wafted out.

"Um... you guys should have eaten by now, right?" Sai Chuxue looked at Zeng Anmin with pleading eyes.

Zeng Anmin snapped out of his daze and glanced at Dachun, who was staring fixedly at the wooden box on the table.

GRUMBLE.

His stomach let out an uncooperative growl of hunger.

"Not yet! Let’s eat together." Not standing on ceremony, Zeng Anmin smiled, walked over to the table, and sat down opposite Sai Chuxue.

"Uh..." A hint of awkwardness appeared on Sai Chuxue’s face. She wanted to refuse, but her social anxiety made her too embarrassed to do so. "Alright then..." she nodded reluctantly. Then, she slowly took the dishes out of the wooden box.

The three of them each held a pair of chopsticks. Soon, Dachun and Zeng Anmin’s expressions turned blank. The chopsticks in Sai Chuxue’s hands were moving so fast they left afterimages! Completely ignoring her bulging cheeks, she endlessly stuffed food into her small mouth.

Looking at her highly puffed-up cheeks, a trace of worry surfaced in Zeng Anmin’s heart.

He thought, "If she keeps stuffing her mouth like this, her cheeks might actually swell until they bleed. Sai Chu Xue—stuffing until bleeding... Is that how she gets her name?"

Throughout the meal, Zeng Anmin and Dachun didn’t even have a chance to use their chopsticks. Soon, only a single bowl of soup remained on the table. Looking at the soup, Zeng Anmin had an idea and probed, "Ms. Sai, are you also a lover of fine food?"

Sai Chuxue patted her satisfied belly, a pure smile appearing on her face. "Of all the exquisite things in this world, only good food and the Great Dao cannot be let down!"

Uh.

He never expected such a philosophical statement to come out of this socially anxious girl’s mouth. Zeng Anmin smiled and nodded, then looked at Sai Chuxue with a mysterious expression.

"Speaking of good food, a new restaurant opened in our Liangjiang Commandery a few days ago called the Immortal Gazing Pavilion. Their dishes are claimed to be the most savory in the world. Do you know why?"

Hearing Zeng Anmin’s mysterious words, Sai Chuxue’s curiosity was predictably piqued. She blinked and looked at him. "You know why?"

"Of course I know." Zeng Anmin tilted his head back, pretending to be profound. "The restaurant’s dishes rely entirely on a secret recipe. Legend has it that this recipe was bestowed by an Immortal from the heavens, which is why it’s so delicious."

"Bestowed by an Immortal?" Sai Chuxue gulped. "Is that true?"

"Hehe." Zeng Anmin took a porcelain bottle from his chest pocket and placed it on the table. "Do you know what’s in this bottle?"

"I don’t know." Sai Chuxue’s train of thought had been completely derailed by Zeng Anmin. Her large eyes were fully focused on him.

Zeng Anmin didn’t answer. With a mysterious smile, he uncorked the porcelain bottle and sprinkled some chicken bouillon powder into the only remaining bowl of soup on the table. Then, he picked up a pair of chopsticks and stirred it a few times.

Instantly, an incredibly savory aroma emanated from the bowl. Catching a whiff of this scent, Sai Chuxue’s eyes glazed over in longing. Her bright, watery eyes stared unblinkingly at the soup on the table.

"Want a taste?" Seeing her expression, the corners of Zeng Anmin’s mouth curled up slightly.

He thought, "The plan to coax this young lady into working for free takes its first step! To capture an employee’s heart, you must first capture her stomach! Such an excellent support character isn’t easy to find out there!"

Hearing this, Sai Chuxue’s eyes lit up fiercely, sparkling like stars. She immediately reached for the ladle and scooped herself a bowl.

PUFF.

Pursing her small lips, she gently blew on the steaming soup before taking a delicate sip. The savory broth entered her mouth. Instantly, her eyes grew incredibly bright. Then, without needing any prompting from Zeng Anmin, the sound of heavy gulping filled the air.

GLUG GLUG GLUG.

After finishing it, Sai Chuxue looked up, her eyes shining like lightbulbs. "This is delicious! I’ve had this nourishing soup so many times, but I never imagined it could taste even better!"

Her not-too-shabby brain capacity immediately grasped the crux of the matter.

SWISH!

Sai Chuxue lowered her head to look at the porcelain bottle on the table. Her eyes revealed an unparalleled sense of longing.

Unexpectedly, Zeng Anmin reached out and solemnly placed the porcelain bottle back into his chest pocket. "Well, that’s all for today. We won’t disturb you any longer. Farewell."

With that, Zeng Anmin led Dachun straight toward the door.
