Forced to be a Martial Artist by System
Chapter 96 - 87: Snow White
Chapter 96: Chapter 87: Snow White
Before long, they arrived in front of a room with a nameplate that read: [Profound Array Department - Sai Chuxue].
"This should be it."
Zeng Anmin stared earnestly at the curtain of light blocking the entrance. He instinctively reached out to knock, but his hand froze mid-air. He wondered how he could knock when there was no door at all. Should he just call out?
Just then, the Jade Pendant in his hand flashed with a cyan light.
HUMMM!
The light curtain before him slowly dissipated, revealing the doorway. Only then did the sounds from inside the room leak out.
BZZT BZZT BZZT...
An electric buzzing sound rang out. Though not loud, its frequency was fast and slightly noisy.
He marveled at such Immortal methods. To think this light curtain could not only serve as a door but also possess such powerful soundproofing capabilities! Zeng Anmin’s awe deepened. It was now clear to him that the Jade Pendant in his hand was not just the key to the Profound Array Department’s main gate, but also the key to this dormitory.
Beside him, Dachun was already standing frozen in shock. In his twenty years of life, he had never seen a sight like this. It was obvious that his entire worldview was undergoing a massive shock.
"Ahem." Zeng Anmin coughed dryly and patted Dachun’s shoulder. "Let’s go."
"Oh, oh!" Dachun finally snapped out of his daze and followed his young master into the room.
Once they stepped inside, the doorway behind them let out another HUMMM as the cyan light curtain slowly restored itself.
Having seen it once, Zeng Anmin was no longer as amazed as he had been initially. Listening to the buzzing electric sounds in the room, he called out tentatively, "Ms. Sai, are you there?"
However, his voice wasn’t very noticeable over the loud buzzing. In front of him stood a large, six-panel folding screen. As Zeng Anmin stepped past it, the buzzing electric sound in his ears grew even louder.
With a solemn expression, he looked toward the source of the noise.
There sat a young girl with soft, snow-white skin. Her smooth, fair shoulder was exposed, her collarbone faintly visible. Sitting on the daybed, she was staring intently at her shoulder. Her pale right hand held a pen that emanated a soft halo, and she was busy drawing and modifying marks on her bare skin.
The buzzing sound was produced the moment the pen’s tip made contact with her flesh.
Seeing this scene, Zeng Anmin froze. Wait... was she giving herself a tattoo? Were there really this many punks in this world?
"Young Master, what are you looking at?" Dachun walked over at that moment.
He was just about to follow his young master’s line of sight when his vision suddenly went black. Zeng Anmin had covered his eyes with both hands.
"Don’t look!"
The moment Zeng Anmin’s deadly serious warning fell, a girl’s scream rang out.
"Ah!"
Clearly, their sudden appearance had caught the young girl completely off guard. Fortunately, the light curtain at the door blocked the sound, keeping her scream from spreading outside.
SWISH!
In an instant, the girl pulled up her half-dropped clothes, covering her smooth, fair shoulder with her black uniform.
"W-who are you?!" Sai Chuxue looked completely bewildered, her cherry-like mouth hanging open. "How did you get in here?"
"Well, Ms. Sai, have you forgotten our parting in Liangjiang Commandery?"
Zeng Anmin nonchalantly held out the Jade Pendant in his hand. At a time like this, he absolutely couldn’t show any sign of abnormality. Otherwise, it would only make Sai Chuxue feel even more awkward. Besides, his heart hadn’t skipped a beat at all. Let alone a bare shoulder, he had seen plenty of backless tops on the streets in his past life.
Seeing the Jade Pendant in Zeng Anmin’s hand, Sai Chuxue finally snapped back to her senses. A look of recollection flashed through her eyes as realization dawned on her. "You’re Zeng Anmin?"
"I’m flattered you still remember me." Zeng Anmin chuckled softly and naturally handed the item over. "Your Jade Pendant."
As expected, with Zeng Anmin’s clever diversion of attention, the awkward atmosphere in the room vanished completely. Sai Chuxue hurriedly took it.
After glancing at the Jade Pendant, her brows furrowed slightly, and she let out a soft sound of surprise. She then held it up, inspecting it carefully for a long moment before bringing it to her delicate nose to give it a gentle sniff.
Finally, she slowly raised her head, her clear eyes flickering with confusion. "Have you been exposed to Agarwood these past few days?"
Zeng Anmin frowned slightly and looked straight at her. "Agarwood? What is that?"
"It’s a substitute for Clearing Incense, used to help people study," Sai Chuxue explained, tying the Jade Pendant back onto her slender waist as she walked back toward the daybed. "The main ingredient for Clearing Incense is too expensive, so my senior brother swapped it for an alternative. Although the effect is the same, it has a drawback."
As she spoke, she reached out her pale little hand and picked up the black Profound Pen from the table. She sighed and looked up at Zeng Anmin with a wronged expression. "I was almost successful, too."
Zeng Anmin shifted his attention to the pen in her hand, his face taking on an apologetic look. "I’m truly sorry for disturbing your focus, Ms. Sai."
He felt deeply ashamed for interrupting a Tattoo Artist’s meticulous work.
"You don’t need to apologize... Honestly, it might not have succeeded anyway." Faced with Zeng Anmin’s sincere attitude, Sai Chuxue felt a bit embarrassed instead. She lowered her head in frustration. "The Power Array is just too difficult to inscribe. My Cultivation still isn’t high enough."
Zeng Anmin was completely lost. He blinked and asked her directly, "Power Array?"
Sai Chuxue gave him a curious look. "You don’t know?"
"Should I?" Zeng Anmin looked back at her innocently.
Sai Chuxue’s eyes lit up. She unconsciously stood up, mimicking the sagacious expression her senior brother wore when teaching her. "The Power Array is an Array that only Seventh Grade Seal Array Masters of the Profound Array Department can learn. Once inscribed on the body, it enhances one’s physical strength. Aside from the Power Array, there are also the Speed Array, the Spirit Array..."
Zeng Anmin was enlightened. He could tell that she was talking about the Profound Array Department’s cultivation system. Reaching the Seventh Grade allowed one to inscribe Arrays on their own body to boost their physical power.
In that case, she wasn’t giving herself a tattoo earlier—she was cultivating!
Suddenly, a thought popped into Zeng Anmin’s mind. He looked at Sai Chuxue expectantly and asked, "This kind of Array... aside from inscribing it on yourself, can you inscribe it on others?"
"You mean transferring an Array, right?" Sai Chuxue revealed a confident smile. "When we first join the Profound Array Department, our foundational cultivation involves tempering a Boundless Body. This way, once an Array is inscribed on the flesh, the power is permanently stored and won’t dissipate.
"But for ordinary people without a Boundless Body, the Array will only last for a very short time once inscribed—just enough to support a single use.
"Though I’m not very skilled at self-inscribing, I’ve never failed at transferring an Array onto someone else’s body!"
Speaking of this, Sai Chuxue’s face beamed with pride.
"Amazing, simply amazing!!" Zeng Anmin gave her a heartfelt thumbs up in praise. "You’re exceptionally smart, Ms. Sai! You’re destined for greatness in the future!"
"Hehe." Sai Chuxue felt a little shy from Zeng Anmin’s compliments.
"About the Agarwood you mentioned earlier..." Zeng Anmin seamlessly pulled the conversation back to his own rhythm. His brows furrowed solemnly as he looked at her and asked, "What is its drawback?"
Sai Chuxue blinked. After pondering for a moment, she replied, "It’s not exactly a drawback, actually. It’s just that after smelling Agarwood, one cannot come into contact with an Array, or else it may cause mental unrest.
"So, when my senior brother discovered this flaw back then, he completely stopped producing this incense."
The moment those words came out, Zeng Anmin’s Dan Feng eyes narrowed sharply. An extremely sharp light flickered within his gaze.
So that was it!!
Agarwood.
Wang Qianzhi!
He remembered the three sticks of light incense wafting in the courtyard when he entered the Crown Prince’s Palace the day before yesterday.
He slowly raised his head, staring straight at Sai Chuxue. "Ms. Sai, has this Agarwood ever been circulated on the market?" he asked in a grave tone.
"How could it be? My senior brother has always disdained remaking things that have flaws.
"Besides, only a few True Disciples in our Profound Array Department know about this matter," Sai Chuxue answered as a matter of course.
If that was the case...
A terrifying possibility surfaced in Zeng Anmin’s mind.
