Chapter 2057: Chapter 2056: A Moment’s Ambiguity

Wen Ran wanted to break away and give Wen Jin a call.

However, Mo Xiuchen stayed close by her side, as if he had already seen through her little intentions.

He even wouldn’t allow her to take her phone to the bathroom.

“Let me call Xiaocha.”

“No need, we won’t concern ourselves with their matters in the future. Those kids upstairs are probably going crazy; let’s go upstairs and have a look.”

Wen Ran went to the bathroom, and when she came out, was forcibly led upstairs by Mo Xiuchen.

Meanwhile, at a seaside hotel in another city, Wen Jin called Jing Xiaocha again, but still, no one answered.

He didn’t know whether Jing Xiaocha didn’t have her phone with her or just didn’t want to answer his call.

Perhaps she was in a bad mood and didn’t want to answer any calls, which is why she didn’t pick up.

Wen Jin pondered before his open laptop for quite a while, then searched for the title of that novel online, found the website, and clicked in.

The novel was being prominently promoted on the website, with an eye-catching title banner.

He clicked and browsed the page, scrolling down to the comment section, which was filled with rave reviews.

Many readers left comments saying they were looking forward to the drama adaptation.

And some readers worried that the plot might be altered beyond recognition, or the actors wouldn’t perform well, ruining the original work…

This was the first time Wen Jin clicked on the novel and also the first time he opened a novel written by Jing Xiaocha, even though he had asked her before what kind of novel she was writing.

But he had never truly paid attention before.

Firstly, he had no interest in this area, and secondly, he was too busy and had no time.

Now, after reading the comments, Wen Jin could imagine Jing Xiaocha’s feelings when she saw these reviews.

Not just anticipation, joy, and emotion, but also a strong sense of responsibility.

The more the readers looked forward to it, the more Jing Xiaocha hoped this drama would be well-produced.

The script as faithful to the original as possible, the actors as well, matching the characters’ personalities and images in the original.

Instead of randomly choosing some actor with connections, ruining this drama.

The phone rang, and Wen Jin glanced at the phone on the computer desk; it wasn’t a call back from Jing Xiaocha, but from the secretary.

He picked up the phone and answered the call.

A few minutes later, Wen Jin booked the next flight ticket to G City to go back and handle some business.

After booking the ticket, he dialed Ou Yihan’s number.

“Wen Jin, I’m at the seaside, exactly where we played yesterday.”

After a few rings, Ou Yihan’s cheerful voice came through the line.

Along with her voice, the sound of the sea and the voices of nearby tourists reached his ears.

Ou Yihan thought he was coming down to the seaside to find her.

But Wen Jin smiled slightly and said apologetically, “Yi Han, there’s something at the factory, I need to rush back now. You keep on enjoying your vacation till the end.”

“What? Did you say you have to go back?”

Ou Yihan asked in surprise from the other end of the phone.

Obviously not believing that he is leaving after only four days when they still had three days left of their week-long vacation.

Wen Jin closed the computer, stood up, and walked towards the floor-to-ceiling window.

Calmly explaining, “Yes, something’s come up at the factory, I need to go back and sort it out. You stay here and have fun, I’ll pick you up at the airport when you get back.”

“Have you already booked your flight?”

Judging by Ou Yihan’s voice, she seemed to be walking back.

“I’ve already booked a ticket, I’m heading to the airport now. You don’t have to come back; I promised to spend this vacation with you, but something came up, and I apologize.”

Wen Jin, having agreed to date Ou Yihan, was serious about this relationship and genuinely felt apologetic about his sudden departure.

Ou Yihan wasn’t an unreasonable woman.

Upon hearing it was something at the factory, and recalling how Wen Jin had no interest when she asked him to join her, she couldn’t help but worry about how serious the issue was.

“I’ll be back at the hotel soon; wait a few minutes, and I’ll go back with you.”

The reason she came here for vacation was because Wen Jin was accompanying her.

If he left first, leaving her here wouldn’t be enjoyable, so she might as well head back early.

Wen Jin looked through the floor-to-ceiling window outside.

Though he could see the beach and the sea, he didn’t see Ou Yihan, “There’s no need, I’ll go back on my own. Don’t cut your vacation short because of me; I’d feel very guilty.”

“But without you, there’s no fun for me here.”

“How could it be uninteresting? This is a great vacation spot, and you’re rare to have a holiday, make sure you enjoy it till the end.”

There was a moment of silence on the phone, followed by a sigh from Ou Yihan, “Even if I don’t go back with you, wait for me to return before you leave.”

“Alright then, don’t rush; I’m waiting for you.”

Ou Yihan returned quickly, and when she knocked on Wen Jin’s door, she was panting.

“Did you run back?”

Wen Jin glanced at the sweat on her forehead and her flushed cheeks, then stepped aside to let her into the room.

Ou Yihan, catching her breath, said, “I was afraid I’d be late and you’d have left, so I ran back. Is there something serious at the factory that you need to return immediately?”

“Sort of.”

“It’s my fault for dragging you along on vacation. You must be worried now, so I won’t ask what it is. Tell me once you’ve dealt with it.”

Ou Yihan clutched one of Wen Jin’s hands, looking up at him with an earnest expression.

Wen Jin nodded, withdrew his hand, and poured her a glass of water, “You must be thirsty after all that running around; have some water.”

Ou Yihan wasn’t just thirsty; her clothes were also partially wet.

It was from getting splashed by other tourists at the seaside earlier.

The splash landed right on her chest, and the thin shirt, once wet, clung to her inner wear, making her already good figure even more alluring.

Taking the glass of water from Wen Jin, Ou Yihan finally noticed her damp clothes, feeling her face, which had been flushed from running back, suddenly heat up even more.

“Well, I accidentally got my clothes wet.”

She shouldn’t have said anything; Wen Jin wasn’t focused on it initially.

When she looked down, explaining herself, her instantly reddened face added an ambiguous tension to the atmosphere.

Wen Jin’s gaze swept over her clothes and quickly shifted away, “Go back to your room and change first; I should also pack up for the airport.”

“Wen Jin.”

Ou Yihan called out eagerly, suddenly standing up, looking at Wen Jin with deep emotions.

They’d been on vacation here for four days without any real progress.

Though they were now officially in a relationship, it was still at the level of regular friends.

Far from other couples sharing one room, caught in passionate moments, doing all that lovers typically do, they hadn’t even kissed.

Wen Jin saw admiration and a kind of anticipation in Ou Yihan’s eyes.

Standing so close, the unique feminine fragrance from Ou Yihan lingered by his nose, causing his gaze to darken slightly.

With a smile, he turned towards his suitcase, “Yi Han, give me a call when you head back, and I’ll pick you up at the airport.”
