Chapter 1378: 1377 in the name of Bai Yiyi

Chapter 1378: 1377 in the name of Bai Yiyi

Gu Kai frowned, his gaze heavy as he looked at Fang Zhiwei. “Zhiwei, the dead can’t come back to life. You have to face reality. Just because you can’t accept it doesn’t mean Uncle Fang can wake up.”

Fang Zhiwei’s expression froze abruptly, her eyes dull as she stared at him.

Seeing her quiet down, Gu Kai softened his voice slightly. “Uncle Fang mentioned donating his body before he passed. If you’re willing—”

“I’m willing.”

Fang Zhiwei bit her lip tightly, choking back sobs as she cut him off before he could finish.

Her swollen, red eyes fixed firmly on Gu Kai. “That was my dad’s wish, and I’ll agree to it. But, Gu Kai, my dad was killed by you and Bai Yiyi.”

At her words, Gu Kai’s handsome face darkened instantly. “Zhiwei!”

Fang Zhiwei shook off his hand, stood up, and her face of grief was replaced by a thick hatred. She spoke through gritted teeth, her words sharp and deliberate, “Ah Kai, I hate you. From this moment on, I hate you and Bai Yiyi.”

“Uncle Fang passed due to illness, Zhiwei. Calm down.”

“Calm down?” Fang Zhiwei laughed coldly. “Do you know why my dad fell ill? Because he received a package—a package containing intimate photos of you and Bai Yiyi along with a letter from her!”

Gu Kai’s expression changed multiple times, his face clouded with gloom. “Zhiwei, give me those photos and that letter.”

“Fine, I’ll go back and get them for you now.”

Fang Zhiwei pushed him away and staggered out of the hospital room.

Gu Kai frowned and turned, following after her.

Gu Kai and Fang Zhiwei entered the elevator. In the adjacent hospital room, Wei Jingshan walked out, a faint cold smile flickering in her eyes. “This is perfect. Gu Kai, Fang Zhiwei not only hates Bai Yiyi but also despises you. That old man Fang really died at just the right time…”

To figure things out.

Gu Kai personally drove Fang Zhiwei home. The ride was silent. Once they reached the Fang residence, Fang Zhiwei got out of the car and said to Gu Kai, “Wait here.”

Two minutes later, her housekeeper came out.

Gu Kai opened the car door and stepped out. The housekeeper, who evidently had been crying as well, her eyes red, said, “Doctor Gu, this is the package and letter Professor Fang received. Miss asked me to give them to you.”

“Where’s Zhiwei?”

Gu Kai’s gaze darkened as he took the envelope from the housekeeper.

The housekeeper, seeing he had taken the envelope, then said, “Miss is on the phone, making arrangements for Professor Fang’s funeral. Doctor Gu, you should leave.”

Gu Kai glanced at the front door behind her and then lowered his head, staring at the envelope in his hand. Narrowing his eyes, he said in a deep voice, “Housekeeper, hand over the package envelope as well.”

The housekeeper blinked in confusion, nodded, and went back into the house to retrieve the package envelope for him.

Sitting back in the car.

Gu Kai pulled out the photos from the envelope, and his face instantly turned as tumultuous as stormy skies, dark clouds converging and biting cold brewing in his ink-black eyes. He cursed furiously, “Damn it!”

The photos had been doctored.

He and Bai Yiyi had never shared those kinds of intimate acts in public, and naturally, no one could have photographed them.

After scanning the photos, he turned his eyes to the letter.

When he read its contents, Gu Kai was instantly enraged.

The letter was written in Bai Yiyi’s name. No wonder Professor Fang suffered shock upon seeing both the photos and the letter.

Gu Kai took a deep breath, suppressing the anger burning within. He vowed to find the culprit and make them regret their actions.

He took out his phone and dialed a number.

Putting on his Bluetooth headset, he started the car engine and hit the road. On the other end of the line, Mo Xiuchen’s voice came through, “Hello, Ah Kai.”

“Xiuchen, have Qing Feng and Qing Yang help me investigate something.”

Gu Kai stared straight ahead, his voice icy.

“What’s the matter?” Hearing the suppressed fury in his tone, Mo Xiuchen queried curiously.

“Someone sent a stack of photos and a letter to Fang Zhiwei using Bai Yiyi’s name. Her father saw them, was triggered, fell ill, and passed away. Fang Zhiwei now hates Bai Yiyi and me.”

“That serious?”

Mo Xiuchen’s voice turned grave.

“Yes. I just dropped Fang Zhiwei off at home and got the package. I’m heading to the police station soon. Ask Lu Zhiyan to help investigate, but he’s quite busy lately…”

“Come to my company first. Fang Zhiwei’s hatred won’t dissipate right away, so there’s no rush.”

Mo Xiuchen calmly analyzed the situation for him.

Finding the person responsible wouldn’t be solved in mere minutes. With his experience, such matters, especially tracing packages, would take time and wouldn’t yield immediate results.

Nonetheless, it was a crucial clue.

For now, the package was the only lead.

“Alright, I’ll be there soon.” After hesitating briefly, Gu Kai agreed.

Twenty minutes later, Gu Kai arrived at Haochen Group.

He stepped out of his car and looked up at the towering skyscraper, then strode towards the company’s entrance.

Just as he entered the building, Qing Feng, who had been waiting, approached him.

“Young Master Gu, Young Master Mo asked me to wait here for you.”

“Hmm, where’s Xiuchen?”

Gu Kai glanced at Qing Feng and asked indifferently.

“Young Master Mo is in his office.” Qing Feng’s gaze swept over the package Gu Kai was carrying. “Young Master Gu, may I take a look at it?”

Gu Kai handed him the package and stepped into the elevator, with Qing Feng following him inside. Instead of examining the photos, Qing Feng studied the stamp and handwriting on the package.

“This was sent from out of town.”

Qing Feng frowned, his sharp eyes fixed on the package.

Gu Kai nodded. “Last time, Fang Zhiwei received a package sent locally. This time, it’s different. The handwriting on this package doesn’t match the previous one’s either. It’s definitely not from the same sender.”

He had already checked earlier.

The elevator arrived at the top floor, and Gu Kai and Qing Feng stepped out together, heading to Mo Xiuchen’s office.

“Qing Feng, have you looked at it?”

Mo Xiuchen walked out from behind his desk, his gaze sweeping over the package in Qing Feng’s hand. His tone was steady.

Qing Feng handed the package to Mo Xiuchen. “I’ve checked. Young Master Mo, this was sent from out of town. I’ll start investigating now.”

“Hold on.” Mo Xiuchen accepted the package and spoke calmly.

He took out the photos and letter inside, called his secretary in through an intercom, and instructed her to make copies of the letter before handing one to Qing Feng. “Take this.”

Qing Feng replied with a quick “Got it,” and left the office. Gu Kai and Mo Xiuchen sat down on the couch.

After examining the photos, Mo Xiuchen’s lips curled into a mocking smile. “Fang Zhiwei’s father was provoked by these photos and the letter?”

“Yes.”

Gu Kai’s expression was somber, his entire aura cold.

“Do you have any suspects?” Mo Xiuchen looked at Gu Kai and asked, his tone calm.

After asking, he reexamined the photos. “Fang Zhiwei’s father must have poor eyesight to be deceived by these doctored photos. It’s also possible that the letter was what truly triggered him. Regardless, with Fang Zhiwei blaming you and Bai Yiyi, you’ll need to provide her with an explanation.”

“I previously suspected Wei Jingshan.” Gu Kai’s dark eyes sparked with icy glints, his voice sharp with restrained fury spilling from his lips.
