Chapter 1373: 1372 Accompany her to find a house

After leaving the living room, Gu Kai stopped and waited for Bai Yiyi to catch up.

“You hold Tongtong, I’ll go get the car.”

Bai Yiyi silently took Tongtong into her arms and walked to the door to wait for Gu Kai.

Gu Kai got in the car but didn’t start it immediately. He took out his phone and dialed Wen Ran’s number.

Earlier, Bai Yiyi had refused to go to Wen Ran’s house. He had some guesses about what she might be feeling. The phone rang twice before Wen Ran’s lively voice came through: “Brother, how did your conversation with Yiyi go?”

“You knew?”

Gu Kai’s eyes flashed with surprise, but he quickly caught on: “Did Dad call you?”

“Mm, Dad told me that Yiyi is back. Brother, did you argue with Yiyi again? I think she’s the most innocent one here; you’re supposed to be the man…”

“Don’t think your brother is so petty. I didn’t argue with her. She didn’t sleep well last night, so I’ll drop her off at your house. Let her rest there for half a day, and this afternoon, she’ll be looking for a new place.”

“Looking for a place?”

Wen Ran asked in surprise over the phone.

Gu Kai made a sound of acknowledgment and explained further: “She doesn’t want to stay at my place anymore. Actually, she’s reluctant to go to your house either. Ranran, later on, be sure to tell Bai Yiyi that you’ll go with her to look for a place this afternoon.”

“Brother, do you already have some sort of arrangement?”

“I’ll call you later.” Gu Kai pressed his lips together and hung up the phone.

“Daddy, car-car!”

At the villa’s entrance, Tongtong saw Gu Kai’s Maybach approaching and immediately pointed it out to Bai Yiyi. “Mommy, car!”

Bai Yiyi smiled and nodded. Once the car stopped, she carried Tongtong forward, opened the door, and got into the backseat.

During the ride, Bai Yiyi chatted with Tongtong while Gu Kai focused on driving, without saying a word.

The first stop was the hotel to pick up luggage, and then he took them to Wen Ran’s house. As they approached the suburbs, they spotted Wen Ran waiting outside the villa from afar.

Gu Kai slowly reduced the speed of the car and stopped in front of her. Wen Ran stepped forward to open the car door for Bai Yiyi and smiled as she reached out: “Tongtong, come to Auntie’s arms.”

“Auntie.”

Tongtong called sweetly and stretched out her hands.

Wen Ran carried Tongtong out of the car, prompting Bai Yiyi to get out.

“Brother, aren’t you going to work?”

Seeing Gu Kai get out of the car, Wen Ran asked with a puzzled expression.

“There’s luggage in the back.” Gu Kai opened the trunk and took out a suitcase. Qing Feng, who was nearby, ran over and took the suitcase from Gu Kai’s hands.

“Rest for a while at Ranran’s house. In the afternoon, let Ranran accompany you to find a place. Don’t settle for anything less. Be sure to choose a neighborhood with a good environment and reliable security.”

Gu Kai gently instructed Bai Yiyi. His calm tone allowed Wen Ran to breathe a sigh of relief.

Earlier in the morning, her father had called to say that Bai Yiyi had returned. She had been worried about whether they might end up arguing, given the current state of things.

Now, it seemed that while the atmosphere wasn’t what it used to be, at least there was some peace.

Bai Yiyi’s expression remained distant. After taking Tongtong from Wen Ran’s arms and setting her down, she said indifferently, “You should head to work. I can handle my own matters myself.”

Seeing his good intentions go unappreciated, Gu Kai’s handsome face showed faint signs of darkening. Wen Ran quickly smiled and said, “Brother, hurry to the hospital. I’ll accompany Yiyi to look for a place.”

“Goodbye, Daddy!”

Tongtong looked up, her little face tilted, waving at Gu Kai.

Gu Kai waved back at Tongtong, then glanced at Bai Yiyi before bending down and getting in the car. He drove away swiftly.

Wen Ran asked Qing Feng to take Bai Yiyi’s suitcase upstairs to the guest room. The two followed behind.

Qing Feng put the suitcase down and left the room, going downstairs.

“Yiyi, let Tongtong go to class with Momo and the others. You can take a nap. I’ll accompany you in the afternoon to find a place.” Wen Ran smiled at Bai Yiyi, speaking gently as usual.

She didn’t treat Bai Yiyi any differently just because of Bai Yuqin’s situation.

Bai Yiyi didn’t decline Wen Ran’s suggestion and nodded lightly.

Wen Ran explained the plan to Tongtong. Being a sensible child, Tongtong kissed her mother when she heard she would be sleeping, then left with Wen Ran to go to class.

Wen Ran took Tongtong to class and didn’t return to the guest room to find Bai Yiyi. Bai Yiyi was indeed tired; she hadn’t slept at the airport during the night.

She had only waited until daybreak.

Not long after, she fell asleep.

Wen Ran went back to the master bedroom and dialed Mo Xiuchen’s number.

“Ranran, did you miss me?” After two rings, Mo Xiuchen’s voice came through. His deep, pleasant tone carried thick affections and hints of mischief.

Wen Ran chuckled lightly and teased back, “Yes, I missed you. Should you leave early and come keep me company?”

“Haha, not today. Ranran, you know I have a signing ceremony to attend. Tonight, when I return, I’ll make it up to you properly.”

The latter remark carried hints of intimacy. Even for an old married couple, Wen Ran’s heart skipped a beat.

She laughed lightly and scolded him, then got back on track: “Xiuchen, Yiyi is back.”

“Bai Yiyi’s back?” Mo Xiuchen sounded a little surprised.

Wen Ran’s soft voice flowed through the line, reaching his ears. “Yes, Yiyi came back this morning. My brother just brought her to our place. I don’t know how their conversation went, but my brother said Yiyi didn’t want to stay at the previous villa and asked me to accompany her to find a place this afternoon.”

“Ranran, take her to the nearest real estate agency. I’ll handle the rest.”

After a brief pause on the other end, Mo Xiuchen gently instructed her. Hearing his offer, Wen Ran’s eyes lit up with joy. “Xiuchen, do you have any vacant properties to offer Yiyi?”

Mo Xiuchen responded with a low chuckle. After his laughter faded, his cheerful voice came through again: “Ranran, isn’t the reason you’re calling me to ask for my help in finding a place for Bai Yiyi?”

“So smart.”

Wen Ran praised him playfully.

“It’s not about being smart but about knowing you well. If I don’t understand what you’re thinking, how could I possibly help solve your problems? Last time, Ah Mu asked me to find a place for him. Later, he and An Lin left G City, so the property has been vacant all this time. Coincidentally, it’s not far from the Gu Family residence.”

Having Bai Yiyi live there would make it easier for Gu Kai to take care of them.

“Xiuchen, you’re the best. It’s settled then. But is there a nearby agency that has listings for that property?”

“It’s not that far, don’t worry. Just take Bai Yiyi there.”

Wen Ran was satisfied with this solution. She cheerfully agreed, “Alright, I’ll take Yiyi to the agency in the afternoon. I’ll call my brother now to put his mind at ease.”

“By the way, Ranran, I heard you arranged for Jing Xiaocha to work at the pharmaceutical company?”

“Ah, I completely forgot to tell you. Yes, I recommended her for the job there. How did you find out?”

Wen Ran herself had forgotten about this matter and hadn’t mentioned it to Mo Xiuchen.
