Chapter 137: Chapter 137: Cold and Dangerous

Qiao Suluo saw things very clearly. Que Hongjin treated her very well; if he had been there, he definitely wouldn’t have let her get hurt. But he had his own things to do. He also had to study at the academy. She couldn’t expect them to stay by her side every moment of the day, leaving them with no personal space. They had their own passions and their own matters to attend to, and she supported them. Therefore, Qiao Suluo tried her best to comfort Que Hongjin, not wanting him to feel guilty and sad.

Hearing her words, Que Hongjin felt even more guilty and full of self-blame. He lowered his head and kissed her forehead, as if holding her like this was the only way to ease the ache in his heart. Right now, there was nothing he could do to help; he could only watch in helpless anxiety. Qiao Suluo took the initiative to hug Que Hongjin, silently comforting him, before looking over at Gu Songlan, who was currently examining Chu Moyuan.

"Young Master Gu, is Mo Yuan alright? He used a blood sacrifice—can he be cured?" As Qiao Suluo asked the question, her voice choked back a sob.

After finishing his examination of Chu Moyuan, Gu Songlan looked down at Qiao Suluo. Meeting her wet, tear-filled eyes, he masked the emotion in his gaze and said softly, "Don’t worry, he’ll be fine."

Hearing Gu Songlan’s words, the heavy anxiety weighing on Qiao Suluo’s heart finally eased.

Gu Songlan instructed, "Let’s bring him inside first and find a flat surface for him to lie down."

"Alright."

Que Hongjin carried Qiao Suluo inside, while Gu Songlan used his Abnormal Power to move Chu Moyuan indoors as well.

When Yue Hanzheng was at the door, he not only heard what Qiao Suluo had just said, but also saw her leaning against Que Hongjin’s embrace. So this was what she was like in private. She was completely different from the way she used to beat and scold them. Yue Hanzheng didn’t know which side of her to believe. His mind was in absolute turmoil. At some point, Yue Hanzheng quietly turned his wheelchair around and left.

Inside the room.

Gu Songlan took a brush and a box out of his spatial ring. He dipped the brush into an unknown substance inside the box, then began drawing strange symbols in the air right above Chu Moyuan’s chest. Qiao Suluo couldn’t understand what he was doing, but she could feel a faint trace of Spiritual Energy in the air surging toward the tip of his brush. The Spiritual Energy swirled into a vortex, making his sleeves flutter despite the lack of wind. Qiao Suluo held her breath, afraid to make a sound and disturb him, though her heart brimmed with intense curiosity. At this moment, Gu Songlan emanated a sacred and mysterious aura. A faint light seemed to flicker at the center of his forehead, making him look like a banished immortal descending to the mortal realm.

Time trickled by. A faint glow of Spiritual Energy washed over Chu Moyuan’s entire body. This light seemed to be repairing his physical form. Gradually, Gu Songlan’s face turned somewhat pale, but he persisted, never lifting his brush. An unknown amount of time passed before he finally withdrew it and said softly, "He is fine now. The trauma from the blood sacrifice has been completely healed. Once he wakes up, his body will be as good as new."

Immediately after, Gu Songlan looked at Qiao Suluo and offered, "Miss Qiao, let me check your condition as well."

Qiao Suluo shook her head and said, "Young Master Gu, I’m fine for now. However, you don’t look too well. Please sit down and rest for a bit."

Gu Songlan shook his head. "It’s nothing. Since everything is fine, I will take my leave." His power was insufficient; forcing himself to use that method to repair Chu Moyuan’s body had caused him internal injuries. He didn’t want Qiao Suluo and the others to notice, so it was best for him to head back as soon as possible.

To his surprise, Qiao Suluo gently tugged at his sleeve and said, "Young Master Gu, you look quite pale. Let me help you recover some strength first." As she spoke, she pulled Gu Songlan down to sit and infused her Wood Element Ability into his body.

Feeling the energy Qiao Suluo was channeling into him, a warm and comforting sensation flowed through his limbs and bones, soothing his very soul. Gu Songlan’s body trembled slightly beyond his control. Gradually, he felt his depleted strength returning. It was an incredibly miraculous feeling. Gu Songlan looked at Qiao Suluo with a shocked expression.

"Young Master Gu, do you feel any better?"

Qiao Suluo had no idea what Gu Songlan was experiencing. She was just hurrying to use as much of her Wood Element Ability as possible to help him recover while she still could. Once the aftereffects of forcefully using the Blood Array kicked in, she would be completely drained of energy and unable to use her superpowers. However, she just needed to rest for a while to recover, which was why she hadn’t let Gu Songlan expend any more energy on saving her. She had noticed earlier that Gu Songlan’s method for saving Chu Moyuan was extremely draining—his face had turned ashen white. She couldn’t be so selfish as to let Gu Songlan heal her body too. Besides, her life wasn’t in any danger anyway.

Hearing Qiao Suluo’s gentle tone, Gu Songlan felt his heartstrings tremble slightly. He had never seen such a gentle and beautiful female. Meeting her soft, worried gaze, his mind fell into disarray.

"I feel much better. Thank you, Miss Qiao."

After Bai Qianluo finished tending to his stall, he packed up his things and prepared to head home. However, upon arriving at the house, the scent of blood hit him, and his face instantly turned pale. He rushed inside as fast as he could. "Wife, how are you? Are you hurt? Are you alright?"

Bai Qianluo had completely lost his usual composure, a panicked look overtaking his typically cold features. He stared at Qiao Suluo with profound anxiety. Even as he looked at his wife and saw no obvious injuries, he still couldn’t put his mind at ease.

Qiao Suluo shook her head and said, "I’m fine."

Bai Qianluo then looked at the unconscious Chu Moyuan on the bed, as well as Que Hongjin beside him, and asked, "What exactly happened?"

Gu Songlan had already left by this time.

Que Hongjin didn’t entirely understand the full picture himself, but he was certain of one thing. "The Qin Family tried to assassinate our wife."

"The Qin Family. Very well." Bai Qianluo gently stroked Qiao Suluo’s hair and said, "Wife, I’ll be back in a bit."

With that, Bai Qianluo quickly departed.

"Qian Luo... Qian Luo..." No matter how much Qiao Suluo called out to him, Bai Qianluo didn’t return.

Qiao Suluo grabbed Que Hongjin’s hand and pleaded, "Hong Jin, go check on him! What is he doing?"

"It’s nothing. He’ll be back soon." Que Hongjin had a fairly good idea of what Bai Qianluo intended to do. If it weren’t for his worry over their wife, he would have charged into the Qin Family’s estate to slaughter them himself.

Que Hongjin ordered the Fourth Elder and the others to deal with the corpses in the courtyard and clean up the area. The Fourth Elder wanted to have a word with the Young Master, but seeing that his attention was entirely focused on Qiao Suluo, the elder had no choice but to keep his mouth shut and get to work. However, the Young Master’s wife was indeed quite special; they had clearly underestimated her before.

Bai Qianluo felt a bloodthirsty murderous intent surging within his chest. Unable to calm down, his typically cool eyes were dyed with a vicious red hue, and the aura radiating from him was freezing and dangerous. He charged straight into the Qin Family’s estate, unleashing his Water Ability. He massacred anyone in his path while flooding the entire compound. Disregarding his own injuries, Bai Qianluo only wanted revenge. The wife he held in his heart and cherished above all else had almost been killed. He couldn’t forgive himself, and he certainly couldn’t spare these people. Even if it meant destroying himself in the process, he was going to kill these Beastmen.

"AHHH..."

The Qin Family guards were scared witless. Several of their top experts had already fallen at Bai Qianluo’s hands.

Ever since his body had been cured, Qin Wushang had initiated his plan to seize control of the Qin Family, gradually wresting away power. He was steadily reclaiming the family assets that Patriarch Qin had stolen from his mother. He even planned to make his move tonight and assassinate Patriarch Qin and his cronies; he refused to wait a single day longer. But just as his plan was set in motion, Qin Wushang felt the rising water inside the mansion and heard the screams outside. His expression changed drastically as he demanded, "What happened?"
