Five Broken Beast Husbands, One Wicked Female with a Pocket Dimension
Chapter 136: Such a Good Wife
Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Such a Good Wife
Que Hongjin rushed forward and pulled Qiao Suluo into his arms.
As he held her, his arms trembled slightly. His eyes turned red with heartache.
"Wife, what’s wrong with you?"
He carefully wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth, his movements incredibly light and gentle, terrified of hurting her.
"You’re bleeding. I’ll take you to a doctor."
The usually calm Que Hongjin was now filled with sheer panic. Seeing Qiao Suluo in this state sent a sharp, piercing pain through his chest. He didn’t even know what had happened, but looking at the scene, he could roughly guess. At this moment, a bloodthirsty murderous intent surged from the bottom of his heart. However, he tried his best to suppress his hostility, not wanting to frighten her.
Qiao Suluo shook her head and said weakly, "I’m fine. Have you forgotten that I am a Divine Doctor? I can heal myself. I just need some rest.
"It’s just that Mo Yuan used a blood sacrifice to protect me. He’s severely injured. Can you please invite Young Master Gu over?"
With Que Hongjin back, Qiao Suluo could finally breathe a sigh of relief. They should be safe now.
Que Hongjin wiped away her blood and tidied her clothes and hair. His movements were gentle and careful, as if he were handling a precious treasure. "Alright, I’ll go invite Gu Songlan right away."
He carefully set Qiao Suluo down before standing up. He looked at the crippled Qin Siyan and the male Beastman in black lying on the ground. A bloodthirsty glint surfaced in his eyes. "Since you dared to touch my wife, you can die!"
With that, the Peacock Feather in his hand moved like a sharp blade, directly slitting the throats of Qin Siyan and the male Beastman. They collapsed and died on the spot. Qin Siyan’s eyes were wide open in disbelief, but she didn’t even have the chance to utter a single word.
Qiao Suluo blinked as she looked at Que Hongjin standing in the courtyard, his clothes fluttering in the wind, exuding a cold and chilling murderous aura. She had never seen him like this before.
After killing them, Que Hongjin turned to the Fourth Elder. "Guard her well."
His tone was commanding, and the Fourth Elder respectfully complied. "Yes."
Que Hongjin transformed into his true form and disappeared like a gust of wind, rushing to fetch Gu Songlan at top speed.
The Fourth Elder, Que Shan, and the others stared at the scene in a daze. Good heavens, their Young Master had truly recovered! His wings were completely intact. Seeing it with their own eyes, they finally realized how shocking it was.
Suppressing the surging blood in her chest, Qiao Suluo continued to channel her Wood Element Ability and spiritual power into Chu Moyuan. Whether it was effective or not, she didn’t stop. She couldn’t let anything happen to him. She realized that in many dangerous situations, it was always Chu Moyuan who risked his life to protect her.
"Mo Yuan, you must be okay. You have to get better," she whispered. "As long as you recover, I will never be afraid of your snake form again."
Although she was treating him with her Wood Element Ability, which healed his external wounds, his internal injuries were difficult to mend. The blood sacrifice method was far too cruel; it could cost a Beastman half his life.
Meanwhile, Que Hongjin flew to the courtyard where Gu Songlan lived in his true form. However, Gu Songlan wasn’t there. Even his servant was nowhere to be seen.
He only saw Yue Hanzheng. Landing, he asked, "Where is Gu Songlan?" Que Hongjin’s eyes were red with anxiety.
Yue Hanzheng’s gaze trembled as he stared at Que Hongjin’s wings. "Your... your wings have recovered? How is that possible?"
If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, Yue Hanzheng wouldn’t have believed it. Broken wings couldn’t possibly grow back.
"It was my wife who healed my body and repaired my wings," Que Hongjin said hoarsely.
Yue Hanzheng’s expression changed. He wanted to say it was impossible, as he truly didn’t believe Qiao Suluo possessed such an ability. But then he remembered the food she had sent over recently. Every dish was incredibly delicious, unlike anything he had ever tasted. She was supposedly a good-for-nothing, yet she could create such culinary masterpieces. That was why he had been wondering if he had never truly understood her.
"My wife is wonderful. You should believe in her," Que Hongjin urged. "Where is Gu Songlan? My wife and Chu Moyuan are both injured. I have urgent business with him."
Yue Hanzheng’s expression shifted, his cold eyes darkening. "He went to Lu Lin Mountain to gather herbs. I don’t know when he’ll be back."
For some reason, Yue Hanzheng’s heart was in his throat. He wanted to ask more, but before he could, Que Hongjin had already transformed and flown away to search the mountain.
Sitting in his wheelchair, Yue Hanzheng anxiously tried to stand up, but it was impossible. He wondered if that female was in danger.
The more he thought about it, the more uneasy he became. Using his hands, he pushed his wheelchair outside.
Although his legs were crippled, as a Dog Night Beastman, his sense of smell was extremely sharp. He could find Qiao Suluo’s residence just by following her scent. But as he drew near, a thick stench of blood hit him.
Was she hurt? Was she badly injured?
For some reason, Yue Hanzheng felt incredibly tense, his heart pounding with unease. He rapidly spun the wheels of his chair to move forward.
By the time he reached the courtyard, his hands were scraped and blistered, and he had even fallen a few times along the way. Peering inside quietly, he saw Qiao Suluo and Chu Moyuan. His pupils constricted violently at the sight of the assassins’ corpses strewn across the courtyard. Seeing her holding Chu Moyuan tightly, looking utterly heartbroken, Yue Hanzheng clenched his fists.
The Fourth Elder and the others noticed Yue Hanzheng. However, knowing who he was from their previous investigations—and aware that he had a mate contract with this female—they neither stopped him nor took any action.
Soon, Que Hongjin flew back, bringing Gu Songlan with him. As Gu Songlan landed, worry filled his eyes upon seeing Qiao Suluo’s condition.
Hearing the commotion, Qiao Suluo looked up at Gu Songlan and pleaded, "Young Master Gu, I beg you, please save Mo Yuan. As long as you can save him, I’ll agree to any condition."
She couldn’t live without Chu Moyuan.
Looking down at her, Gu Songlan could hardly believe his ears. To think there was actually a female in this world who would say such things to save her Beast Husband. Weren’t females supposed to be self-centered? Weren’t they naturally selfish? He knew she was different from others, but only today did he realize just how truly unique she was.
"Is he that important to you?" Gu Songlan asked. "If he dies, you can always take another Beast Husband."
Qiao Suluo’s face paled. "No, I can’t lose him. Every one of my Beast Husbands is important to me. Young Master Gu, I’m begging you."
With that, she prepared to kneel and kowtow to him.
Gu Songlan quickly helped her up. "Miss Qiao, there’s no need for this. But you’re injured as well. Let me check on you first."
Qiao Suluo refused, saying, "Young Master Gu, please examine Mo Yuan first. I’m fine."
Heartaching, Que Hongjin stepped forward and embraced her, gently wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes. "I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. I wasn’t by your side to protect you."
Consumed by self-blame, he didn’t even know how to make amends. He no longer wanted to go to any academy; he only wanted to stay by her side and guard her.
Qiao Suluo shook her head and comforted him, "It’s not your fault. Someone else came to assassinate us, so how can you be blamed? Don’t be so hard on yourself."
Listening to their exchange, Gu Songlan felt a pang of envy toward Que Hongjin and the others. To have such a wonderful wife was truly a blessing.
