Chapter 126: Chapter 126: Feelings of Yearning

Qiao Suluo thought for a moment before suddenly realizing something was wrong. "Wait, Blood Bone Grass is a highly potent tonic. Even if they were treating Eldest Young Master Qin’s body, they shouldn’t have used it. Since he suffers from a debilitating condition, it would be best to use mild, nourishing medicine."

Chu Moyuan wasn’t clear about this point. "At that time, when the Qin Family formed a team to go to the Ancient Secret Forest to find medicinal herbs, they used the excuse of treating Eldest Young Master Qin’s body. In the eyes of outsiders, Patriarch Qin cherishes this son immensely. She found all sorts of medicinal herbs for him and even personally invited the Valley Master of the Medicine King Valley to treat him."

Pausing for a moment, Chu Moyuan’s eyes darkened. "However, what we hear and see is only on the surface. It might not necessarily be true."

Qiao Suluo spoke up, "I actually think this Patriarch Qin might not truly love her son. The one she genuinely loves is probably her own daughter, Qin Siyan."

While setting up her food stall on the streets, she didn’t just sell food; she also listened to the topics people discussed to understand current events. She would also quietly gather information herself. Knowing more was always useful. She felt it was necessary to go ask Gu Songlan about the situation tonight.

Later that evening.

By the time Qiao Suluo was making the small pancakes, Que Hongjin had already returned from the academy.

"You’re back! We’re having barbecue tonight, it will be ready in a bit."

Que Hongjin had never heard of the term ’barbecue’ before, but he had smelled a delicious aroma the moment he reached the door. He knew without a doubt it would be delicious. "Alright," he replied.

Chu Moyuan and Bai Qianluo were almost done grilling, so they didn’t need much help. Qiao Suluo had exchanged points for a small grill from the Space Mall. By putting charcoal inside, they could grill the meat. It was very convenient. They had skewered a lot of food. Qiao Suluo planned to eat her fill first, then grill a new batch to bring to Gu Songlan and Tushan Feishang. She also wanted to ask Gu Songlan some questions while she was at it.

Que Hongjin put his things down, washed his hands, and went to the kitchen to help. However, looking at Qiao Suluo, he couldn’t help but step forward and gently embrace her from behind, burying his face in the crook of her neck.

Qiao Suluo paused her movements and asked, "What’s wrong?"

Que Hongjin inhaled deeply, taking in her fragrant scent. "I missed you a little," he said in a low, husky voice.

Qiao Suluo turned her head to look at him and smiled. "Weren’t we just together this morning?"

Seeing her smiling face, Que Hongjin helplessly ruffled her hair. "That was still a whole day apart. I still missed you." Que Hongjin never expected that once love took root in his heart, he would become so deeply attached and worried about her. "Isn’t there a saying that a single day apart feels like three autumns? Since my wife doesn’t feel the same way, does that mean you didn’t miss me?"

As he spoke, Que Hongjin lowered his head. He gazed deeply into her eyes, as if trying to see straight into her heart. His body and mind both yearned for her; only by pulling her into his world could he pour out his deep longing.

Qiao Suluo shook her head. "No, of course I missed you too, but I knew you would definitely come home tonight."

"Accompany me tonight, my wife. Alright?" Que Hongjin’s warm eyes gleamed with a tender and deeply affectionate light, carrying a hint of seduction.

Just then, a gust of wind surged past. Chu Moyuan suddenly appeared and pulled Qiao Suluo aside. "Our wife promised to accompany me tonight."

Qiao Suluo, a bit slow to react, looked at Chu Moyuan and asked blankly, "Did I promise that?"

Chu Moyuan wrapped his arm around her waist, gently caressing it. He lowered his head and said hoarsely, "You promised me when you were begging for mercy last night, wife." They had just completed their contract last night, and he had lost control a bit. He was worried that he might have made her feel uncomfortable. But tonight, he was fully prepared and wanted to cherish her properly.

Qiao Suluo’s face flushed red. She had been in a daze last night. She couldn’t even remember what he had said or what she had agreed to.

Que Hongjin usually carried an elegant and gentle aura, but right now, his warm smile vanished. A sharp glint flashed through his eyes, and a hint of oppression radiated from his body. "Chu Moyuan, you already spent last night with our wife. Are you trying to monopolize her again tonight?"

Chu Moyuan’s darkened eyes swirled like black abysses. His imposing aura erupted, causing his sleeves to flutter without wind. "Our wife spends the most time with you. She should share her favors equally, shouldn’t she?" Whenever he thought of how Que Hongjin and his wife were together when he wasn’t around, a stifling feeling would well up in his heart. Not to mention the time in the cave at the Ancient Secret Forest, when she was with Bai Qianluo. As those scenes flashed through his mind, Chu Moyuan wished he could immediately crush his wife into his very flesh and blood.

Qiao Suluo was somewhat at a loss; she had no idea what to do in this kind of situation. She had absolutely no experience with this. Seeking help, she looked toward Bai Qianluo, who was walking over.

Bai Qianluo extended his hand. Qiao Suluo reached out, and Bai Qianluo grasped her hand, pulling her to his side. "Acting like this will only make our wife uncomfortable," he said. "We should let her choose for herself."

As Bai Qianluo spoke, he held Qiao Suluo in his arms and gently patted her back. "Don’t be afraid, wife. I’ll stay with you." In that moment, Qiao Suluo felt that Bai Qianluo gave her the most relaxed and comfortable feeling.

Que Hongjin and Chu Moyuan shifted their gazes to Bai Qianluo. They had momentarily forgotten that although Bai Qianluo appeared cold and indifferent, he was actually the most manipulative and cunning of them all. If they continued fighting, Bai Qianluo would be the one to reap the benefits. Only then did the two men retract their imposing auras.

Qiao Suluo thought for a moment before softly changing the subject. "Um, I’m hungry. Let’s get ready to eat dinner first."

Hearing that she was hungry, none of them could bear to let her starve. They hurried back to their tasks—those grilling went back to grilling, and those skewering went back to skewering.

Qiao Suluo checked the small pancakes in the pan. Fortunately, they were cooked on low heat and hadn’t burned. Just as she was about to take them out one by one, Que Hongjin caught her hand. "Don’t burn yourself. Let me do it," he said.

Even after catching her hand, Que Hongjin didn’t let go easily. His slender fingers gently stroked her palm. Qiao Suluo felt as if an electric current shot through her hand, leaving behind a tingling sensation.

She didn’t dare move recklessly. After Que Hongjin took all the pancakes out and placed them on the grate, he reached out to pluck a stray piece of grass from her hair. Then, he spoke, "I brought something back for you today, wife. Do you want to see it?"

"What is it?" Qiao Suluo asked curiously.

"Come with me, wife."

Still a bit dazed, Qiao Suluo involuntarily followed Que Hongjin into his room. As soon as they entered, Que Hongjin closed the door and took out a wooden hairpin. "I carved this hairpin myself. I don’t have any luxurious items right now, so you’ll have to make do with this for the time being, wife. But in the future, whatever you like, I will get it for you. Whatever you want, I will do my best to fulfill."

Que Hongjin had noticed that Qiao Suluo wore no hair ornaments, and she never seemed to care about such things. Yet, he still wanted to give her everything with all his heart.

Qiao Suluo looked at the peacock patterns carved onto it. It was even decorated with an emerald peacock feather, making it exceptionally beautiful. Her eyes lit up. This was the very first gift she had received since coming to this world. "Thank you, I really like it."

Seeing her happy expression, Que Hongjin finally breathed a sigh of relief. He stroked her cheek with one hand, then lowered his head to kiss her. "As long as you like it." He originally wanted to wait until nightfall, but his wife might not belong to him tonight. Right now, he just wanted to soothe his longing for her.
