First Night with the Army: The Stoic Big Shot Is Done Pretending
Chapter 187: A Tiring Night
Wen Ci thought for a moment, then reached out and took Huo Jingyuan’s large, rough hand. Her gaze was fiery as she looked at him and slowly began to speak, "Huo Jingyuan, you..."
Before she could finish, desire filled his eyes as he leaned in and kissed her, capturing her warm, damp lips.
Wen Ci’s eyes widened.
’I was trying to talk to him about something serious!’
But this is what it had come to. A moment later, Huo Jingyuan released her. He raised an eyebrow, his voice husky. "Honey, what were you about to tell me?"
Wen Ci rolled her eyes at him.
She had been thinking that Huo Jingyuan would rarely get a vacation this long again, so he should take advantage of this time while he was recovering.
He should spend more time with his grandparents. His parents worked for a confidential government unit and rarely had the chance to come back to Hangzhou to visit family.
He should use this time to be a dutiful grandson.
But she was in no mood to talk now. The scoundrel had bitten her lip.
She wiped the corner of her mouth with her thumb, her brow furrowing slightly. She grumbled, "Huo Jingyuan, are you a dog?"
At her words, Huo Jingyuan took her soft, smooth hand. His mind drifted back to the feel of her warm, damp lips, and a flash of desire crossed his eyes.
"It’s the way you looked at me. I couldn’t help myself."
Wen Ci: "..."
’She’d misspoken. He wasn’t a dog, he was some kind of insatiable beast!’
"So you’re saying I was the one who sedu—"
Wen Ci was too embarrassed to finish the word.
Huo Jingyuan remained silent.
He just kept watching her.
Wen Ci raised her hand and gave him a light slap. It was less a slap and more a playful warning.
"All joking aside, why don’t you stay in Hangzhou for a few more days to be with your grandparents? I can go back by myself."
"Hm?"
Wen Ci tried to persuade him, "Your parents are away all the time, and your grandparents need company. As their grandson, you should do your part for them."
Huo Jingyuan’s expression grew serious. He realized she was right; he hadn’t been very considerate. After returning to China and joining the army in the Northwest, the only times he took leave to come back to Hangzhou were for official business or when his parents returned for the New Year. The old couple had been lonely all these years.
Suddenly, an idea seemed to strike Huo Jingyuan. A smile played on his lips. "In that case, we should hurry up and have a daughter. That’ll give the old couple something to do."
Huo Jingyuan’s grandparents were in excellent health.
Wen Ci: "..."
’He wasn’t entirely wrong. The older generation from the eighties all dreamed of a house full of children and grandchildren, of a happy and complete family.’
Huo Jingyuan said, "Alright, I’ll stay in Hangzhou with my grandparents for two more days. I’ll bring the computer back with me then."
"Hm?" Wen Ci blinked. "Can’t I just take it with me tomorrow?"
At that, Huo Jingyuan leaned in close to her ear, his lips brushing her earlobe. His voice was both husky and alluring. "What do you think?"
Wen Ci shivered, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. By the end of the night, Wen Ci was completely worn out.
Early the next morning, after bathing Wen Ci, Huo Jingyuan passed through the living room, glanced at the time, and went back to their room to pack his luggage.
His flight was at eleven.
It was now six-thirty, the sky just beginning to lighten.
’Wen Ci can sleep for another three hours,’ he thought. ’West Lake is a ways from the airport, so she can sleep in the car and on the plane, too.’
Huo Jingyuan yawned and went downstairs.
The Huo family had an unwritten rule: the housekeeper would have breakfast ready at six-forty every morning. Miss that window, and you didn’t get to eat breakfast.
At the breakfast table, Grandpa Huo noticed his grandson’s exhaustion and asked with concern, "Didn’t you sleep well last night?"
"Didn’t sleep."
"What do you mean you didn’t sleep? You’re injured; you need to get proper rest so your body can recover quickly. Finish eating and go get some sleep."
