First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 3134 - Meeting Again

  • Next Chapter

The six Heavenly Sovereign avatars gathered once more.

“Su Yi has so many treasures on him. He must have done something to obscure Ol’ Ku Xuan and block his resonance with the Laws,” Heavenly Sovereign E said with a frown.

The others agreed. As the reincarnation of the Big Boss of Sword Sovereign City, Su Yi had an enormous abundance of secret treasures, all of them with extraordinary origins.

Hiding a Heavenly Sovereign from the Laws really didn’t seem like it’d be difficult for him.

“Strange. They really left the Blackwater Celestial Capital, just like that. What exactly are they up to?” Heavenly Sovereign Wen couldn’t wrap his head around it.

Heavenly Sovereign Ling frowned. “You don’t think Su Yi is really insane enough to try rebuilding the Heart-Tempering Sword House?”

“There’s no way. How would that be any different from suicide?”

“Would you believe me if I said that if he dares try it, the day he succeeds will be the day he dies?”

“Su Yi isn’t stupid, and Ku Xuan isn’t prone to empty boasting, either. What if...I’m just saying ‘if,’ but... What if they’re serious?”

The Heavenly Sovereigns fell silent.

After a while, Heavenly Sovereign E’s eyes flashed. “If he really wants to rebuild the Heart-Tempering Sword House, he’ll have to gather the survivors and establish new sect grounds first. If he does, there’ll be no hiding it, no matter where he chooses to rebuild!”

Heavenly Sovereign Wen pondered out loud. “Are you saying that there’s no need for concern, and that if we just wait, all will become clear?”

Heavenly Sovereign E nodded. “There’s no way Ku Xuan will really just disregard the Taiwu Sect’s survival. All we need to do is stay calm, keep a close eye on the Taiwu Sect, and rally our forces in preparation to wipe Su Yi out.”

The others exchanged glances, then nodded. There was a calm before every storm. Su Yi had returned to the Eternal Heavens Domain, and now, he was brazenly proclaiming his intent to rebuild the Heart-Tempering Sword House.

Was he serious or not? They’d just have to wait and see.

When you killed a snake, you had to aim seven inches below the head. Their targets were no snakes, but the same principle applied. So long as they kept a close eye on the Taiwu Sect, there was no way Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan would stir up any major waves.

They could use the Taiwu Sect to restrict Su Yi, too!

“If we’re really left with no other choice, we can just act in accordance with our original plan and declare war on Su Yi here in the Blackwater Celestial Capital,” Heavenly Sovereign E said coldly. “What need do we have to fear Su Yi refusing to show up?”

The other Heavenly Sovereigns smiled. It was true; they could still threaten the Taiwu Sect. For now, that was enough.

......

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan clicked his tongue with admiration. “Little Brother, this treasure sure isn’t simple.”

After leaving the Blackwater Celestial Capital, Su Yi took out a crescent-moon-shaped hook the size of his palm. A rain of chaos light scattered as it appeared.

It was the hook that let them obscure Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s presence, preventing any kind of reaction from the surrounding Laws.

“This little toy is called the Sky-Stealing Hook,” Su Yi said casually. “Unfortunately, I still need it for several important tasks. Otherwise, I’d have given it to you a long time ago.”

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan laughed and shook his head. “I’m not the type to covet another’s treasures.”

As they conversed, he led the way to the Divine Wandering Continent.

They arrived at a barren stretch of the Divine Wandering Continent a day later. Su Yi was instantly stunned.

Because this was where the Heart-Tempering Sword House had originally stood!

It was here that the Malevolent Sword Venerate destroyed his own sect, reducing its territories and buildings to rubble.

Su Yi had come here in person because of this incident. He would never have guessed that Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan would bring him back here years later.

“Old Man Wen could never have guessed that I’d hidden the survivors of the Heart-Tempering Sword House and the Aberrants here,” Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan said with a hint of a smug grin.

The Divine Wandering Continent was Limitless Palace’s territory. Who could have imagined that Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan would hide people in the ruins of the Heart-Tempering Sword House right under Heavenly Sovereign Wen’s nose?

It was just too gutsy!

“Little Brother, by now, I’m sure you’re aware that while ordinary people might not notice anything, Heavenly Sovereigns can sense each other’s movements. Whenever we go anywhere, the others are sure to know about it,” said Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan.

“When I visited the Divine Wandering Continent, Heavenly Sovereign Wen sensed me immediately. Had I taken the Aberrants or the members of the Heart-Tempering Sword House with me, he and the others would have been able to trace us, no matter where we went.” Here, he paused, then said, “That’s why I chose this place.”

He waved his sleeve through the air, and a radiant jade pearl floated into view, glowing like the full moon.

This was obviously some kind of mystical spacetime treasure. As soon as it appeared, its aura produced strange, unbelievable shifts in the surrounding spacetime.

“This is the Mustard Seed Pearl. It can hide a whole world in even the most minute of places. With it, even if a Heavenly Sovereign showed up and sensed something strange about this place, they’d struggle to actually find the hidden realm I placed here.”

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan tapped the air, and the Mustard Seed Pearl lit up. Flowing spacetime ripples spread outward, and the ruins’ scenery transformed.

A portal to a hidden realm floated into view. It was barely more than ten feet tall.

When Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan poured his strength into the Mustard Seed Pearl, the spacetime ripples flowed, enveloping the entrance, which repeatedly shrank, stopping only when it was the size of a grain of rice. Then, it landed on the pearl and vanished into it.

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan said with obvious relief, “Fortunately, nothing unexpected happened. How about we head straight for the Unfettered Continent?”

They’d retrieved the hidden realm with the survivors of the Heart-Tempering Sword House and the Aberrants safely inside it.

Su Yi forcefully resisted the urge to meet with them immediately, then nodded. “Alright.”

The Divine Wandering Continent was, after all, Limitless Palace territory. Even with the Sky-Stealing Hook to obscure their presence, it was entirely possible that something would go wrong. If it did, they’d be in for endless trouble.

According to their plans, they were to head straight for the Unfettered Continent and prepare for the birth of two new Heavenly Sovereigns.

Su Yi and Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan set off immediately.

Not long after they left, two women, one young, one old, appeared silently in the ruins.

The young woman wore clothes as white as snow, and her features were picture-perfect. This was none other than the famous Lian Yue!

The old woman accompanying her was naturally Granny Snake.

“Granny, do you think this counts as repaying Fellow Daoist Su’s benevolence?” Lian Yue gazed in the direction Su Yi had left and whispered.

“Of course it counts!” said Granny Snake, not even pausing to think. “You’ve personally watched over this place for years. Even though nothing unexpected happened, it still took time and effort.”

Her gaze was somewhat conflicted.

Several years prior, Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan brought that hidden realm here. He thought he’d hidden himself perfectly, but in truth, he couldn’t elude Lian Yue’s senses!

When Lian Yue arrived, she saw through all of his attempts at deception and discovered the hidden realm housing the disciples of the Heart-Tempering Sword House.

However, she did nothing to expose them. On the contrary, she chose to stay here, silently standing guard in case anyone else discovered them and tried to harm them.

Fortunately, nothing of the sort had happened.

On the surface, it seemed like Lian Yue had gone to all this trouble for nothing, but Granny Snake didn’t see it that way.

It was naturally for the best that nothing had happened, but what if something had? Given Lian Yue’s abilities, she could surely have resolved it.

Even if Heavenly Sovereign Wen had come personally, he’d have been helpless against her!

Moreover, Lian Yue had stood guard for years, never resting. How could this not count as repayment of Su Yi’s benevolence?

The mention of Su Yi’s act of generosity filled Granny Snake’s heart with ruefulness.

After the Struggle for Heavenly Fate, Su Yi took out the Toad Palace Pearl and offered it to Lian Yue freely. She’d carved this act of benevolence into her bones, swearing never to forget what he’d done for her.

When she heard about the battle in the Divine Wandering Continent, Lian Yue rushed over. She originally planned to meet with Su Yi.

Unfortunately, by the time she arrived, Su Yi had already left.

Even though she missed him, her trip led to her discovering the hidden realm that Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan had hidden in the ruins. Thus, in the name of repaying Su Yi’s benevolence, she remained behind and silently stood guard.

Several years had passed. Now, Su Yi and Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan had retrieved the hidden realm. That meant that Lian Yue had effectively repaid her debt.

“That would be best,” Lian Yue said with a subtle nod. “Let’s go, then. Let’s... head to the Source of the River of Destiny. I just hope we aren’t too late.”

She’d planned to leave several years prior, but her decision to stay behind and stand guard had delayed her.

“I’m sure there’s still time,” Granny Snake said with staunch conviction. “Master and Mistress have been waiting for you just outside the Source of the River of Destiny all this time, young Mistress.”

“Mm,” said Lian Yue.

But just as she was about to leave, she seemed to sense something, and she gazed into the distance.

She wasn’t sure when he’d gotten there, but Su Yi had appeared in the distance, and he was looking directly at her!

Granny Snake couldn’t help but feel stunned. When did Su Yi discover us?

“Fellow Daoist Su, you don’t think we’re here with ulterior motives, do you?” said Lian Yue, her eyes shining with strange light. She was inwardly quite surprised; not even Heavenly Sovereigns should have been able to sense them.

Yet now, Su Yi had obviously done just that!

“I had my suspicions earlier, but not anymore.” Su Yi smiled and approached. “If I’m not mistaken, you’ve been protecting this place for years. Am I right?”

Granny Snake nodded to herself. The kid isn’t blind after all!

Lian Yue subtly inclined her head. “I had no intention of informing you, but since you’ve already realized it, there’s naturally no need to hide it, either.”

Su Yi clasped his fist. “Many thanks!”

He was quite surprised. He couldn’t even begin to imagine why Lian Yue, the mysterious woman from the Far Shore, would silently take it upon herself to do something like this.

But that was precisely why Su Yi found it so moving.

Lian Yue hadn’t revealed herself, not even when he and Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan left. She’d obviously been planning to let her act of kindness go unnoticed and unrewarded; she didn’t want him to have to feel grateful to her.

She’d done him a good turn without any thought of gratitude. Of course Su Yi was moved!

“No, I’m the one who ought to thank you. By giving me the Toad Palace Pearl, you helped restore my foundations in the Grand Dao, enabling me to finally awaken my innate talent. It will no longer be difficult for me to prove my Dao and become an Ancestor,” Lian Yue said solemnly.

Become an Ancestor? Su Yi couldn’t help but feel stunned. A single Toad Palace Pearl actually had such an enormous impact on her cultivation?

Only now did he truly understand why she’d chosen to stand guard here in silence for the past several years.

Lian Yue suddenly turned to look at Granny Snake. “Granny, please step back for a moment. I have something I’d like to discuss with Fellow Daoist Su in private.”

Granny Snake inclined her head, then left. Soon, Su Yi and Lian Yue were the only ones left.
