First Immortal of the Sword
Chapter 3127 - Kneel
The Bloodsoul Annihilation Formation was like an all-encompassing flood. It enveloped the area outside the city walls completely.
Its blood-red energy ripples emanated shocking, baleful energy.
The golden-robed old man, the woman in gray, and the man in red smiled. All of them gazed playfully at Su Yi. Now that we’ve activated our killing formation, the outcome is clear!
“It’s just as the Threelives Buddha said. A few hostages are all we needed to force Su Yi to come to us,” the golden-robed old man said softly.
He smiled at Su Yi. “How do you feel right now, O Esteemed Chosen?”
“Who has their true names?” said Su Yi, disregarding the question to examine the friends now suspended from the city walls. His gaze was utterly calm, without the slightest ripple of joy or sorrow.
The old man said airily, “True names are a delicacy. We’ve already divided them amongst ourselves and eaten them one by one.”
He stretched out his right hand. “Give me the Medallion of Past Karma, and I’ll let you leave with the hostages.”
All eyes were on Su Yi. The atmosphere was stifled and oppressive.
Against all expectations, Su Yi took out the medallion and tossed it. It blurred through the air like a beam of light, then landed before the old man.
Everyone was flabbergasted. None of them would have guessed that Destiny’s Chosen would be so cooperative!
The old man in gold stared at the medallion, then murmured, “Strange. Since when was Destiny’s Chosen so obedient?”
He was obviously stunned, too.
The woman atop the Bloodsoul Incineration Formation yawned, a disappointed look on her face. She’d assumed that Su Yi would refuse, so she was already prepared to fight.
Who could have guessed that he’d wimp out and give up the medallion without even trying?
“This Su Yi is severely lacking compared to the last Chosen,” said the woman in white. “But the lousier the Chosen, the better for us. This is wonderful news for our people!”
They’d investigated Su Yi and learned that this young sword cultivator had heaven-defying combat strength. Between that and his mastery of the Book of Destiny, no one dared to underestimate him.
Thus, they’d meticulously prepared to ambush Su Yi outside the Spirit Treasure Celestial City, going so far as to place a supreme killing formation.
Now, when Su Yi freely gave up the Medallion of Past Karma, his cowardice and willingness to compromise shifted the Destiny Demons’ attitudes. It seems... Destiny’s Chosen isn’t as terrifying as the rumors say!
“Are you going to let them go or not?” Su Yi asked casually, his gaze still focused on the people hanging from the city walls. He stood alone, with no presence or momentum to speak of. Even his voice was calm, with no sign of an edge.
Many of the Destiny Demons visibly sneered.
“We can let them go,” the old man in golden robes said gravely. “Give us the Book of Destiny, and we won’t just spare the hostages. We can let you leave this place alive, too!”
His companions stirred. Both the woman in gray and the man in red perked up, their eyes glinting playfully as they looked at Su Yi.
The Book of Destiny was Destiny’s Chosen’s most terrifying weapon, as well as the treasure the Destiny Demons dreaded most.
Would Su Yi give up the Book of Destiny just to save the hostages?
Most likely not!
Even a complete idiot would have known that giving up the Book of Destiny was tantamount to offering up his life on a silver platter.
The golden-robed old man was obviously just probing Su Yi to find his limits. He wanted to see how much Su Yi was willing to compromise.
The woman in white stood atop the formation, lips pursed as she looked at Su Yi with great interest. How will he respond in the face of such blatant bullying?
But then, beneath countless eyes, Su Yi took out the Book of Destiny and tossed it to the old man in golden robes.
A deathly silence descended over the crowd. No one spoke, and their eyes widened with disbelief.
He’d given up the Book of Destiny just like that, without a word or any attempt to haggle!
Who’d have believed such a thing?
The golden-robed old man was visibly flabbergasted. He stared intently at the Book of Destiny, then confirmed that it was the real deal and not a trick or illusion.
But this realization only made the situation seem all the more absurd. How could Destiny’s Chosen possibly be so cooperative?
Rumor had it that he was extraordinarily domineering, and he dared oppose even the Heavenly Sovereigns. They said he’d never once backed down or retreated!
So why was he suddenly such a pathetic wimp?
“Strange. Is he perhaps a fake Destiny’s Chosen?” The woman atop the formation was stunned, too.
“Hahaha! Countless years have passed, and it turns out the new Chosen is completely pathetic!” Someone threw back his head and laughed. Uproarious laughter filled the area.
They’d rallied their forces, setting an inescapable net over the entire area, all because Destiny’s Chosen was too terrifying to underestimate.
Who’d have thought he’d actually be this wimpy?
“It really feels like we’re dreaming. I can’t even imagine how Destiny’s Chosen sank so low,” someone said with a sigh.
There was only one person on the River of Destiny whom the Destiny Demons feared, and that was Destiny’s Chosen!
It was the previous Chosen, Xiao Jian, who’d defeated their people long ago, confining them to the Silent Annihilation Forbidden Zone.
Who could have imagined that when they broke free, the new Chosen would be this wimpy and inept?
“Let me look,” said the man in red, stretching out his hand and grabbing the Book of Destiny. He looked it over, his gaze heating up.
“It really is the Book of Destiny. There’s no mistaking it!” the man in red said softly. Then, he looked at Su Yi and broke into a hideous grin. “We already carved out the hostages’ true names and placed Bloodspirit Worms in their bodies. That’s a power unique to our race!
“If you want us to remove them, get down on your knees and beg!” He pointed to the ground beneath his feet. “Remember, I want to see you wag your tail and simper like a dog!”
The crowd stirred. Everyone looked eager for a spectacle.
“Kneel!” someone bellowed.
“Kneel!”
“Kneel!”
Their voices rose and fell in waves.
The woman standing atop the formation sighed. This was far too absurd and anticlimactic. The new Destiny’s Chosen was so weak that she couldn’t help but feel disappointed!
This is all he amounts to, yet Demon Sovereign Ling Zhao is trying to convince us to submit to him? She’s simply sick in the head! The woman shook her head. When I go back, I’ll have to let her see just how pathetic Su Yi is for herself!
She’d only just thought this when Su Yi’s voice rang out.
“Are these little fellows the Bloodspirit Worms you told me about?” Su Yi extended his right hand, and little red worms each the size of a grain of rice floated into the air.
The commotion instantly died down. Everyone looked over and saw that indeed, those were the Bloodspirit Worms!
They could slip directly into enemies’ vital source energy. Once there, there was no removing them on your own, no matter who you were. The worms would gradually eat away at your vital source energy until nothing remained. Then, you’d simply die.
“You... Where did you get those?” The golden-robed old man’s expression darkened as he realized that something wasn’t right here.
Su Yi drew his fingertip through the air, and the Bloodspirit Worms exploded and dissipated, one by one.
He clapped his hands and said casually, “Naturally, I found them in River Ancestor Lu Shu and the others’ bodies.”
Everyone gaped in obvious disbelief. How is that possible? We’ve been watching him this entire time, but none of us saw him move!
Besides, the method for removing Bloodspirit Worms is one of the secrets of our people. There’s no way an outsider could have learned it, so how did Su Yi manage it?
“I understand. You were just stalling for time earlier, all for the sake of secretly removing the Bloodspirit Worms from the hostages’ bodies,” the old man said with shock and fury.
Su Yi nodded. “You’re not so stupid after all.”
The others instantly came back to their senses. Su Yi’s concessions were all an act!
The woman in white realized the same thing. Her beautiful face shifted, and her eyes narrowed. She couldn’t tell how Su Yi had managed to remove the worms, either.
“Ludicrous! So what if you removed the Bloodspirit Worms? The hostages are still in our hands, and you... cannot possibly escape!” the man in red said with a cold laugh. He gripped the Book of Destiny, his eyes full of despair.
The others were instantly reassured. That’s right. The inescapable net we placed over the area is still here. It’s not like Su Yi can overturn the heavens!
Su Yi looked on calmly and said nothing. There was no need for him to say anything.
He looked around, then raised his right hand. The Book of Destiny rumbled, boomed, and erupted with a terrifying rain of inscrutable light, shattering the red-robed man’s hand. It then flew back to Su Yi.
At the same time, the Medallion of Past Karma hovering in front of the old man blurred into a beam of light and shot back into Su Yi’s sleeves.
The red-robed man cried out in agony, his face contorting with fury.
The golden-robed old man was startled, too. He bellowed, “Attack together and kill him!”
Boom!
All of the Negative Karma Destiny Demons took out their treasures and attacked, stirring up a flood of destructive power. All of it hurtled toward Su Yi.
But the woman in white was the fastest of all. She swung her blood-red scythe, activating the Bloodsoul Incineration Formation. Countless thick red arcs of the power of the Laws descended upon Su Yi with enough force to effortlessly eradicate even a River Ancestor!
Su Yi just stood there, unmoving save for his right hand, which gripped the Book of Destiny. He said softly, “Suppress!”
A ripple of inscrutable Dao Light emanated from the Book of Destiny, manifesting an abyss so enormous as to blanket the sky and blot out the sun. It seemed vast beyond measure and bottomlessly deep.
It was like the sudden appearance of a black hole. All treasures and abilities shattered before it, the fragments falling like rain.
The blood-red power of the formation was blocked and neutralized, instantly rendered harmless.
Everyone looked on in astonishment and disbelief. What kind of power is this? It actually managed to suppress us all at once?
It even blocked the Bloodsoul Incineration Formation?
The woman in white felt a thrill of terror course through her. She tried to pour her strength into the formation, but it was useless. The massive black hole was too taboo and strange. It ground away anything and everything they threw at it!
It was then that Su Yi spoke once more, whispering just one word. “Kneel.”
He was like a ruler issuing a decree. When he spoke, the world obeyed.
Everything went black before the Negative Karma Destiny Demons’ eyes. All of them felt a terrifying pressure bear down on their hearts, souls, and bodies.
Their knees thudded to the ground, and their foreheads slammed into the dirt!
