First Immortal of the Sword
Chapter 3082 - Venting My Anger, but Not My Hatred
A grandmaster-level figure’s avatar had been destroyed in a single punch, blasted into powder!
Su Yi and the others couldn’t stay calm. Just what kind of power was contained within that fist? How could it have been so unreasonably tyrannical?
The gray-robed old man stood there in a daze.
His Daoist title was Zhi Yue. He was Ling Jue’s martial great-uncle and the senior apprentice brother of the current leader of the Supreme Purity lineage of Three Purities Temple.
His position was so lofty and his authority so great that everyone in the All-Profound Dominion knew his name.
Yet now, he’d just watched Guan Shui and Ling Jue die right in front of him, and he’d witnessed the destruction of Grandmaster Kong Che’s avatar. Worse, he... could do nothing to stop it!
All of this came as an enormous shock. His will to fight wavered.
“Do you have any cards left?” Ruo Su fixed her bright eyes on Zhi Yue. “I’ve got plenty of time, so I’ll accompany you to the very end.”
Zhi Yue’s gaze was conflicted. “You’re a Dao Ancestor, so why... aren’t you known throughout the All-Profound Dominion?”
It was truly strange. What Dao Ancestors hadn’t left their mark on the All-Profound Dominion? Yet try as he might, Zhi Yue couldn’t think of any Dao Ancestor who matched Ruo Su’s description.
Ruo Su’s brow furrowed slightly. “If you have no cards left, fine, but cut the idle chatter.”
Zhi Yue’s expression was unsightly. His lungs threatened to burst from fury.
Something suddenly occurred to Ruo Su, who laughed. “Actually, I’ve got to thank you people for breaking the rules. Otherwise, I couldn’t have slaughtered you even if I wanted to. As an expression of my gratitude, I’ll grant you an opportunity."
Zhi Yue’s brow furrowed. He had no idea what this madwoman was talking about, but he responded instinctively. “Please speak directly."
Ruo Su gazed into the dome of heaven. “I’ll let you die by the Secluded Ones’ hands as a warning to other would-be rulebreakers.”
Zhi Yue froze, then looked stricken. Only now did he realize what kind of "opportunity" Ruo Su was talking about.
But then, he sighed in relief, his thoughts racing. The Mountain of the Secluded Ones was home to secluded experts from many different factions, including many from Three Purities Temple.
Zhi Yue refused to believe that this unknown Dao Ancestor could force the Secluded Ones to kill him!
Cultivation wasn’t just a matter of fighting and killing. You had to understand the intricacies of human affairs, too.
Could the Secluded Ones really bear the consequences of offending Three Purities Temple by killing him?
This was the source of Zhi Yue’s confidence!
Ruo Su seemed to see right through him, but she just shook her head. She couldn’t be bothered to argue.
Instead, she walked over to Su Yi and said warmly, “Have you vented your anger, Fellow Daoist?”
Su Yi nodded. “My anger, yes, but not my hatred.”
Ruo Su instantly understood. “They really were over the line this time. I absolutely won’t let this go until I’ve gotten a satisfactory explanation.”
Heavenly Sovereign Qingyi and the two River Ancestors stood there in silence. Ling Jue, Guan Shui, Zhi Yue, and fifth-generation Grandmaster Kong Che’s avatar had all sloughed off the shackles of destiny and transcended Eternity. To people like them, neither River Ancestors nor Heavenly Sovereigns were even worth looking at.
As for Ruo Su... Well, she was even more terrifying. This seemingly gentle, tranquil beauty was actually a mysterious and terrifying Dao Ancestor. They couldn’t even imagine just what terrifying heights her strength had reached!
Yet this terrifying existence addressed Su Yi as her fellow Daoist. Who wouldn’t have been astonished?
“You’re already here, so why not show yourself?” Ruo Su said suddenly. “Are you unsure of what to say, or are you too afraid of Three Purities Temple to intervene?”
A figure silently appeared beneath the dome of heaven.
“Three Purities Temple was in the wrong this time, but you’ve already killed several of them. Why not just let this end here?” said a venerable-looking old man in blue. His long hair was as white as snow.
Zhi Yue’s spirits soared. He recognized the old man as one of the Secluded Ones, and an extraordinarily capable one at that!
“Who cares who was in the wrong? They broke the rules. According to the Secluded Ones’ rules, they ought to be severely punished,” said Ruo Su, her gaze cold and clear. “Yet here you are, talking about nothing but right and wrong. Isn’t that overly shameless?”
The old man in blue froze, visibly enraged. He hadn’t anticipated that Ruo Su would chastise him to his face!
Ruo Su continued, still utterly domineering. “I’ll give you a chance. First, kill the rulebreaker. Then, I demand an explanation from the Mountain of the Secluded Ones!”
The old man in blue furrowed his brow. “They’ve already paid the price. Why keep pushing?”
Ruo Su could tell that the old man was a stubborn sort. Arguing with him was a waste of spit.
Thus, she ignored him and turned her attention to a different stretch of sky. “If you don’t show yourselves, don’t blame me for disregarding the Secluded Ones’ rules completely!”
A spacetime ripple coursed through that stretch of sky, and more figures appeared, one after another.
“Fellow Daoist, calm down. Let’s talk this over,” said a new arrival. “It’s true that Three Purities Temple broke the rules, but surely you don’t plan to take it out on the entire temple?”
Someone else suggested, “Fellow Daoist, you have reason to be angry, but I have a suggestion. Why not let us take Zhi Yue with us? We’ll punish him accordingly, and we’ll guarantee you an answer!”
These new arrivals were obviously all Secluded Ones, old monsters from the early days of the All-Profound Dominion’s history.
Su Yi could tell at a glance that many of them had been there when the curtain fell on the Struggle for Heavenly Fate. There, they’d faced off against his first incarnation’s heart devil!
Even in the face of so many Secluded Ones, Ruo Su showed no sign of dread. Her expression was as tranquil as ever, her attitude utterly unyielding.
She disregarded their suggestions and attempts to dissuade her, then said, “If the Mountain of the Secluded Ones doesn’t take its own suggestions seriously, don’t blame me for disregarding them, too!”
“What do you want from us, then?” A beautiful young man furrowed his brow, his eyes glinting. Ruo Su’s attitude had obviously enraged him.
Ruo Su pointed to Zhi Yue. “I’ll say it one last time. Kill him first. Then I demand an explanation!”
The silver-robed man laughed from sheer fury. “A Dao Ancestor who crawled out of nowhere, that’s all, yet you dare behave so brazenly? Who are you to order us about? Do you really think becoming an ancestor means you can do whatever you want?”
Ruo Su said directly, “How about you and I just fight to the death, then?”
The silver-robed man’s expression darkened. He was just about to say something when the other Secluded Ones dissuaded him. They obviously didn’t want to make this incident any bigger than it already was.
It was then that yet another figure appeared beneath the dome of heaven, a tall, coppery-skinned Daoist with a prominent mustache, martial bearing, and a hibiscus crown.
As soon as he appeared, he said coldly, “A member of Three Purities Temple broke the rules, so it’s naturally up to us to punish him. You’ve already slain several of our members, and I haven’t tried to hold you accountable. That was tolerant enough. If you take an inch and demand a mile, don’t blame me for my poor manners!”
The atmosphere was suddenly as stifled and oppressive as could be.
Zhi Yue inwardly relaxed. The man in the hibiscus crown was one of the grandmasters of the Greater Purity lineage. His Daoist title was Song Lan.
Song Lan was also one of the Secluded Ones. He’d left Three Purities Temple a long time ago and gone deep into seclusion.
Ruo Su chuckled. “Quit flapping your lips. Why not just show me your so-called poor manners?”
Song Lan’s eyes flashed, and his qi surged, shaking the entire stretch of heaven and earth. It would have been obvious to anyone that he was furious!
Ruo Su stood there, eyes as tranquil as pools of water. “Don’t hold back. If you don’t attack me, it’ll prove your worthlessness, and everyone in the Mountain of the Secluded Ones will look down on you forevermore. You won’t be able to hold your head up high going forward.”
The other Secluded Ones laughed bitterly. Ruo Su was entirely unfamiliar to them, but that only made her origins seem all the more mysterious. They didn’t want to fight her lightly.
Who could have imagined that this seemingly gentle, tranquil woman would have so few reservations when angered?
Many members of the Mountain of the Secluded Ones had once been grandmasters of the Mountain of the Secluded Ones. They represented a major faction in their own right.
Even Secluded Ones like them treated members of Three Purities Temple with respect, and they wouldn’t provoke them under ordinary circumstances.
But this woman obviously didn’t care!
“Hear that, everyone? She stubbornly refuses to let go. She insists on seeking death!” Song Lan said icily. “Don’t try to dissuade me any further. Three Purities Temple will resolve all this trouble on its own!”
Boom!
His robes billowed around him. He took a step forward and was just about to attack when an enraged bellow rang out. “Stop this nonsense!”
Suddenly, a thin old man in Daoist robes appeared before Song Lan.
Everyone present was astonished. All of them stepped forth and bowed with the utmost respect. Because this was none other than Old Lord Gouchen, one of the very first, most ancient members of the Mountain of the Secluded Ones. His position was extraordinarily lofty, and he had enormous influence.
Su Yi and Heavenly Sovereign Qingyi recognized him immediately. They exchanged glances, their expressions shifting.
Old Lord Gouchen was among the Secluded Ones who’d been there after the Struggle for Heavenly Fate, and he was the one who’d initiated their agreement with the Big Boss’s heart devil.
Waves of emotion rippled through Hua Qingyi’s heart, too. She’d agreed to stay by Su Yi’s side precisely because he’d promised to help her find Old Lord Gouchen. Now, here he was!
Ruo Su recognized him, too. Old Lord Gouchen had visited her after the Struggle for Heavenly Fate, and together, they’d discussed the Mountain of the Secluded Ones’ new rules.
In the face of Old Lord Gouchen’s sudden arrival, Song Lan blinked in surprise, then said gravely, “Senior, I’ve already endured more than enough, but that woman keeps provoking us. She doesn’t take Three Purities Temple the least bit seriously!”
Old Lord Gouchen’s gaze was ice cold. “It was one of your people that broke the rules, yet here you are, planning to attack someone for pointing it out? Song Lan, in your eyes, are the rules of the Secluded Ones worth no more than farts? Or does all of Three Purities Temple feel that way?”
Song Lan looked stricken. He shook his head. “Senior, you’ve misunderstood. I...”
Old Lord Gouchen pointed at Zhi Yue. “Kill him! Then we’ll see whether or not I’ve ‘misunderstood’ anything.”
Zhi Yue suddenly felt a chill in his hands and feet.
