First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2764 - How Does He Dare to Show Himself in the Outside World?

Chapter 2764 – How Does He Dare to Show Himself in the Outside World?

Outside the Huaihuang Empire, the atmosphere was stifled and tense.

The experts of the various top factions all suppressed bellies full of fire. Two months had passed, but their targets still hadn’t shown themselves. This was gradually wearing down their patience.

The most troublesome part was that as time passed, the experts of more and more factions arrived!

Someone frowned. “What will we do if those two just stay in the mundane world forever? Will we just keep waiting?”

“I just wish we could fight our way into the mundane world. If we could, I’d love nothing more than to grab those cowardly turtles, pluck their tendons, skin them alive, and refine their souls into a lamp, leaving them unable to live or die!” said Zhu Quan of the Black Cliff Sword Sect, his gaze imposing.

“Mu Qing, why not send someone into the Huaihuang Empire? If they give up the good fortune, we’ll let them live out of consideration for True Martial Sword Court,” said Madam Rao Yun of Symphony of Rains Tower. “Otherwise, I’m afraid that most of our fellow Daoists will be overcome with displeasure. It would be just terrible if they attacked you, too.”

Many of the others’ expressions shifted. Everyone was looking at Mu Qing, Yu Guangjun, and Yang Lingxiao.

“It’s true. If we start with you, Mu Qing, then send someone to make a deal with the two craven bastards who acquired the treasure, that might well solve the problem,” Old Ghost Luo said icily.

From beginning to end, Mu Qing just stood there in silence. Inwardly, his heart was heavy.

He could tell that the gathered old-timers were running out of patience. When it ran dry, he, Yu Guangjun, and Yang Lingxiao would be in even greater danger!

Mu Qing could even sense some of the old-timers conversing in secret. He suspected that they were discussing when best to attack!

“Mu Qing, what do you think of Madam Rao Yun’s suggestion?” An icy voice emanated from afar.

The speaker was a man in silver robes. When he spoke, many of the old monsters’ spirits soared.

Mu Qing was a Sword Monarch of True Martial Sword Court. His strength and position were top-notch. None of them wanted to cast aside all pretenses of cordiality with him unless it was absolutely necessary.

But the man in silver robes was different. Although he was only an Immeasurable Realm Dao Lord, an expert of the fourth realm of Eternity, his status was far beyond the others!

Because he was an elder from a Heavenly Sovereign-level faction, the Court of the Southern Heavens. His title was Yue Ming.

Mu Qing’s brow furrowed. He said gravely, “The Court of the Southern Heavens is one of the leading Daoist factions of the Eternal Heavens Domain. Don’t tell me you plan to abuse your position to bully others?”

The silver-robed Yue Ming said expressionlessly, “Just answer me. Do you accept Madam Rao Yun’s suggestion or not? Don’t waste my time with any other nonsense; none of us want to hear it!”

The atmosphere was tense and oppressive.

Yue Guangjun and Yang Lingxiao stiffened, their expressions more solemn than ever before. They both knew that if Mu Qing answered badly, a battle could break out at any moment!

Mu Qing scanned the group, then laughed. “Let me ask you this. Have cravens afraid to die ever emerged from the ranks of True Martial Sword Court?”

His voice was like the humming of a sword. It echoed in all directions.

The crowd frowned.

Mu Qing was obviously holding nothing back, and he looked utterly calm. “To tell the truth, those two fellow Daoists aren’t members of True Martial Sword Court, but I brought them here, so I’ll bring them away safely even if it costs me my life!”

They aren’t members of True Martial Sword Court? The crowd stirred. This reality was entirely unexpected.

“Come on, then. Who wants to try me first? Go right ahead and do it!” Mu Qing drew his sword, his gaze cold and sharp. The imposing pressure of a Sword Monarch billowed around him. “Watch and see if the sword cultivators of True Martial Sword Court are afraid to die or not!”

Clang!

Yu Guangjun drew his sword, his blood heating up.

After a moment’s silence, Yang Lingxiao slowly drew his sword, too. His gaze was calm, with no fear of death.

Many of those present were stunned by Mu Qing’s sheer majesty.

“Hmph!” Yue Ming of the Court of the Southern Heavens glowered. “Your unyielding stubbornness will get you nowhere. We’ll just have to attack together and teach Mu Qing that sometimes, you have no choice but to lower your head in the face of overwhelming force!

“Yes, we naturally ought to do just that.” Zhu Quan of the Black Cliff Sword Sect grinned.

“Why was this necessary?” Madam Rao Yun sighed.

“You’re asking for trouble!” Old Ghost Luo said with a cold laugh.

One after another, Divine Monarchs stepped forth, their gazes decidedly unfriendly as they looked at Mu Qing.

The air was rife with tension, and battle could break out at any moment.

But it was then that two figures suddenly emerged from the distant Huaihuang Empire.

These were none other than Su Yi and Pu Xuan.

Earlier, Su Yi saw everything that happened clearly. Not even he had anticipated that Mu Qing would make this decision. The Sword Monarch hadn’t simply not retreated; he was even prepared to fight to the death!

“Mu Qing… is really worthy of being one of our own!” Pu Xuan commented.

As the two of them conversed, they flew toward Mu Qing.

The whole area was instantly in uproar. Everyone was ready and raring to go. When they looked at Su Yi, their gazes were heated.

Their targets had finally emerged!

“What did you come out for?” Mu Qing stomped his feet in irritation. Why show up of your own accord at a time like this? How stupid is that?

Yu Guangjun’s gaze was a complicated mix of admiration and shame; just now, he’d questioned whether Su Xuanjun and Pu Xuan would dare to show themselves even if he and Mu Qing died in battle.

He would never have thought that they’d show up at this critical juncture!

Yang Lingxiao pursed his lips and fell silent.

Pu Xuan walked up to him and patted him on the shoulder. “If we survive this, let me treat you to a drink.”

On their way to the Huaihuang Empire, when Pu Xuan had nothing to do, he would chat with Yang Lingxiao.

Seeing that their prisoner hadn’t chosen to flee surprised Pu Xuan. He felt gratified, too.

Yang Lingxiao nodded slightly. He didn’t say anything, but his will to fight increased.

At the same time, Su Yi walked up to Mu Qing and laughed. “All of them are after me. As a sword cultivator, how could I possibly just stand back and watch as you went to your death?”

Mu Qing wasn’t the affectionate sort. When he saw this, he couldn’t help but smile and sigh. “The opportunity to fight alongside you two is an honor indeed!”

“I won’t be polite, then.” Su Yi turned, faced the enemies surrounding them on all sides, and flipped his palm.

A sword floated into the air.

The blade was as white as snow, with blood-red light flowing beneath the surface and a searing peach blossom insignia on its hilt.

This was the sword formerly known as “Great Sorrow.” It had since been renamed “Peach Blossom.”

“I found this sword beneath the Mountain of Bitter Rains. It once belonged to a Heavenly Sovereign, and it was left there following the End of the Devastation. If you want it, you can have it!” said Su Yi.

With that, he flung the sword into the air.

The crowd stirred. Many of them were tempted, and their eyes lit up.

But against all expectations, no one dared to try to seize the weapon!

Mu Qing threw back his head and laughed. “Haha! Meat pies are raining from the skies, but you’re so afraid of a trick that you dare not fight for them!”

The crowd exchanged glances. All of them felt uneasy.

It was just as Mu Qing said. They were worried that this was a trick!

Who could have imagined that the prey they’d been waiting for would toss the Heavenly Sovereign-level sword into the crowd as soon as he arrived?

Who wouldn’t have suspected a trick?

“It really is a Heavenly-Sovereign-level sword. There’s no faking that aura!” said a Heavenly Monarch, his gaze heated as he stared intently at the hovering sword.

“Our sect’s ancient records state that a ferocious sword known as Great Sorrow was left here during the End of the Devastation. Is that it?” someone whispered.

“Don’t be impulsive. Being the first to take action would be little different from suicide!” someone said gravely.

Discussion arose on all sides. Many of the gathered experts looked on with longing and greed, but none of them dared to act recklessly.

They knew that if someone tried to seize the weapon, the others would attack!

“Everyone, since you all have reservations, allow me to see if the sword’s the real deal or not!” Yue Ming of the Court of the Southern Heavens stepped forth and strode up to the sword.

Countless eyes followed. Some frowned, others glowered, and others looked ready to kill.

But most just calmly waited to see what would happen.

None of them would just give up a weapon fit for a Heavenly Sovereign. So what if Yue Ming was backed by the Court of the Southern Heavens?

When the chaotic battle began in earnest, who’d concern themselves with his identity?

The crowd watched as Yue Ming walked up and reached for the sword.

Boom!

Suddenly, a windstorm swept through the entire stretch of heaven and earth, throwing the sky into chaos. Black flames interwove, sweeping toward the crowd.

No one knew who’d attacked. They’d effectively muddied the waters!

“Attack!”

“Which son of a bitch just ambushed me?”

“Die!”

“Careful! Retreat first. Wait! Who threw that Daoist seal?”

All manner of voices rang out. Firelight swept throughout heaven and earth as everyone present attacked. Some flashed through the air, others fought over the treasure, while others tried to pilfer fish from muddied waters or ambush those around them…

Everything was in complete chaos. Just like that, a battle began.

Yue Ming, the silver-robed man from the Court of the Southern Heavens, was dumbstruck.

Relying on his background gave him the confidence to step up first. He’d planned to seize the sword, then use the divine ability he kept in reserve to flee with it.

Who could have imagined that something like this would happen out of nowhere, catching him off guard?

By the time he realized what was happening, all manner of weapons and dazzling divine abilities shone around him, all of them headed his way.

In the face of this lethal threat, Yue Ming’s face paled, and his soul practically left his body from sheer panic.

He turned and fled without the slightest hesitation.

Kaboom!

The entire stretch of sky shattered. Countless rifts formed on all sides, and misty light swept forth in waves.

Yue Ming dodged by a hair, but he was still badly injured and covered in blood, his hair disheveled.

Most wretched of all, some insidious pervert took advantage of the chaos to thrust a flying knife into Yue Ming’s buttock. He quivered with agony and jumped into the air like a screeching cannonball, as wretched and unseemly as could be.

Practically simultaneously, just as Su Yi was about to lead Pu Xuan, Mu Qing, and the others away, something unexpected happened.

Old Ghost Luo didn’t compete for the treasure. Instead, he took advantage of the chaos to lift a black earthenware jar and attack explosively.

Boom!

The black jar took to the skies. A black flood burst forth, blanketing the sky and blotting out the sun.

The black current seemed endlessly vast. Shockingly, it managed to surround Su Yi and his companions. There was nowhere to run and nowhere to hide!

Meanwhile, Old Ghost Luo and two others attacked from different directions, tearing through the sky to attack explosively.
