Chapter 2701 - Like Gazing Down at the Mountains and Rivers in the Palm of His Hand
Chapter 2701 – Like Gazing Down at the Mountains and Rivers in the Palm of His Hand
Su Yi recognized that wisp of a woman’s soul at a glance.
The Heaven-Combating Ancient Fiend!
She was the only Ancient Fiend left in the God Domain, and she’d once suffered a karmic tribulation on the River of Destiny.
Not long ago, Su Yi intervened on her behalf, neutralizing her Karmic Tribulation. At the time, she promised to lead Su Yi Beneath the Nine Abysses in thanks.
But now, it seemed obvious that she’d lied to him.
As an ancestral fiend born of chaos, she could effortlessly enter the Nine Abysses. Naturally, she could find that ancient cauldron, too.
But she’d obviously suffered a backlash when she attempted to subdue it.
Were that the extent of it, it’d be one thing. After all, unclaimed good fortune was up for grabs. Everyone could try their luck.
But what really pissed Su Yi was that she’d thrown a wrench into his plans!
A mysterious power had resisted his attempts to refine Red Pine Mountain’s chaos source. Looking back on it now, that was obviously her doing.
She’d been using Red Pine Mountain’s chaos source to suppress the ancient cauldron. Essentially, she was competing with him for control of the God Domain’s chaos source.
How could Su Yi not be angry?
In the final match of the Battle for Order, Xiao Jian chose to withdraw. Su Yi should have been able to assume control over Red Pine Mountain’s chaos source easily.
Had he succeeded, he would never have had to watch helplessly as Xiao Jian died!
As he pondered, that mysterious cauldron shot toward Su Yi.
“Mine! It’s mine!” The Heaven-Combating Ancient Fiend’s soul suddenly shrieked and lunged at Su Yi.
Su Yi raised his hand and suppressed it in his palm.
Meanwhile, the mysterious ancient cauldron hovered over Su Yi’s head, silent and unmoving.
“Master, could you give that soul fragment to me? I can wipe away its awareness and refine it to give myself a true spirit,” the yellow finch said suddenly.
“Master?” Su Yi said thoughtfully.
“Master, you refined the chaos source of Red Pine Mountain, becoming its master. Now, you can Bring Order to the world and preside over the alternation of the epochs,” said the yellow finch. “As the incarnation of Red Pine Mountain’s natural order, I must naturally obey your commands!”
“Oh,” said Su Yi. “What do you want a true spirit for?”
“I’ll be able to understand you and your intentions better that way. That way, I’ll be able to work more efficiently on your behalf,” said the yellow finch. “The Heaven-Combating Ancient Fiend was born of the primordial chaos, and her soul can fuse into my powers of the natural order, letting me become a true living being.”
“No need for that,” said Su Yi, tightening his grip. The last remnants of the Heaven-Combating Ancient Fiend’s soul vanished.
The yellow finch was stunned. It didn’t understand.
Su Yi said casually, “It’s better that the natural order of the Grand Dao lacks humanity.”
The natural order oversaw the operations of heaven and earth. If it had happiness, sadness, joy, and anger, it would inevitably lead to unforeseeable disaster.
Su Yi would prefer that that didn’t happen.
“I don’t understand your decision, Master, but I’ll respect your decision,” said the finch.
Su Yi shut his eyes.
Earlier, the moment he assumed full control over Red Pine Mountain’s chaos source, he had a wondrous revelation. He felt as if he’d transformed into the ruler of heaven and earth. All of Red Pine Mountain was on full display in his mind, down to its finest details and most deeply hidden secrets.
It was also then that he sensed the mysterious tripod cauldron’s aura. He could tell that it was awakening from its long dormancy and heading his way.
Now, it floated over its head. The rain of endless chaos light flowing over its surface flooded his heart with numerous unbelievable revelations.
He exerted his will, and the ancient cauldron rumbled and boomed.
Red Pine Mountain shook, then all of the Central Divine Continent.
Soon, the other four Divine Continents and the God Domain’s thirty-three auxiliary worlds shook too.
Su Yi felt as if he’d arrived in an endless stretch of void. He sat cross-legged amidst the emptiness, a scroll unfurling before him, like a river of time. Both ends of the scroll extended endlessly into the distance.
He casually picked the scroll up, and a bundle of light, full of flowing chaos power, floated over the palm of his hand.
Red Pine Mountain, the Central Divine Continent, the rest of the God Domain, and its auxiliary worlds appeared within the bundle of light.
Then, he saw a stretch of the flowing River of Epochs.
Beneath it, he saw the vast Immortal Ream.
Beneath that, he saw the endless starscape of the four star domains of the Human Realm.
When Su Yi exerted his will once more, the God Domain’s Sunset Perch Island came into view, everything on full display.
He saw Wan Zitian, Zang Wushu, the Lord of Sleepless Nights, Luo Qingdi, and other old friends. All of them were gazing nervously up at the sky.
He saw Lu Qingmei and her son, Yi Chen, standing together, conversing anxiously in hushed whispers.
He saw the peach blossoms of Sunset Perch Island withering, their branches bare. There was no sign of their typical radiant, silken petals.
Around the island, oceanic winds howled, and fierce waves lapped the shore. Su Yi heard it all.
He felt like the heavens, gazing down at the Human Realm. He saw all of its scenery, and everything happening within, down to the motes of dust floating in the air and the shifting of light and shadow.
A moment later, Su Yi’s focus shifted, and he saw the Immortal Realm.
The Central Immortal Court had undergone an earth-shaking transformation in his absence.
Qing Tang sat cross-legged in clothes whiter than snow, a sword on the ground in front of her as she meditated. She was as icy and aloof as ever.
In a pavilion surrounded by flowers and birdsong, a beautiful young woman in red reclined on a wooden table near the window. Her eyes sparkled like water, and she had a pure, delicate beauty with an innate, extraordinary charm. This was none other than Qing Wan.
Her head bobbed slightly. She was actually asleep, using her soft, fair arm for a pillow.
Su Yi couldn’t help but chuckle.
Then, he saw numerous other familiar faces: Illuminating Emptiness, Ol’ Cripple Wei, the Divine Fortune Teller, the Antique Dealer, the Sword-Bearing Ape, the Red Dragon Dao Monarch, Qing Wei, Immortal Queen Liu Yun, the Sword Fanatic…
Some were old friends from the Eastern Profound Star Domain whom Su Yi had brought to the Immortal Realm to continue their cultivation.
Some were friends and subordinates from the Immortal Realm, as well as his disciples.
Lin Feng, for instance, was now the ruler of the Central Divine Continent. He was currently presiding over a meeting from the throne at the center of the room, utterly dignified.
After a while, Su Yi shifted his gaze to look at the Human Realm.
The Temple Master was once a legend in that endless starscape. Su Yi had left his mark in this lifetime, too.
When Su Yi thought back to his time striving in the Human Realm, he couldn’t help but feel wistful.
The bright sun and moon of those days remained, still illuminating the colorful, returning clouds.
It was only when Su Yi turned his attention to the Dark and Gold Star Realm that he saw nothing at all.
But then, Su Yi didn’t find this at all strange. The Dark and Gold Star Realm had been obscured back when he was still cultivating in the Human Realm. There was no longer any sign of it.
This was the work of a young man from the Chen Family, Chen Pu. Intriguingly, the young man called Su Yi “Uncle.”
It was also then that Su Yi learned that the chaos laws enveloping the Dark and Gold Star Realm were, in fact, his own doing… rather, the doing of his first incarnation.
His first incarnation had done this to prevent his enemies from interfering with his future incarnations’ cultivation.
At the time, Chen Pu mentioned that when his control of reincarnation was enough to adjudicate the gods, he’d be able to sense the chaos Laws enveloping the Dark and Gold Star Domain. He’d be able to find it then.
Now, Su Yi stood atop the God Domain. Its deities could only avert their gazes before him. If he wanted to find the hidden Dark and Gold Star Realm, he could.
But Su Yi decided against it. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to, but that the situation didn’t permit it.
Even so, when he thought back to his experiences in the Dark and Gold Star Realm, Su Yi couldn’t help but feel wistful.
He thought back to his life as Su Xuanjun, the Swordmaster of Abstruse Force, the ruler of the Wilds.
And he thought back to the early years of this lifetime. When he first awakened his memories, he was a measly live-in son-in-law in Guangling City, a backwater in the Great Zhou, a minor nation of the Azure Continent.
Decades had passed in the blink of an eye. When he looked back on it now, he couldn’t help but feel nostalgic.
Shortly after, Su Yi shook his head and examined the bundle of light more carefully.
Heaven and earth were enormous, and the epochs were vast, but to Su Yi, the entire present epoch was like a bundle of light, on full display in the palm of his hand.
All manner of revelations appeared reflected in his heart.
He knew that he was now the ruler of the present epoch, the master of its natural order.
An unknown amount of time passed before Su Yi tossed the bundle of light into that scroll reminiscent of the river of time.
He knew that the “scroll” wasn’t a scroll at all. It was actually the River of Epochs!
Su Yi saw the Path of the Ancient Gods within it, and the Abyssal Ruin at its far end. He knew that that was where Xiao Jian had lain low all those years.
He saw the epoch civilizations that had faded into the past, and the epoch civilizations of the future.
Unfortunately, the natural order of the past and future had collapsed. Time and space were jumbled. Only the present was fully visible, like the only beam of light on the scroll.
Suddenly, a mysterious ancient cauldron appeared. A rain of chaos light poured down around it.
It had four images carved on its sides. Gradually, four indistinct figures emerged from the carvings.
An old man riding on a blue ox. He held a Daoist classic and gazed into the heavens.
A monk on a lotus platform. One hand pointed into the heavens, the other to the earth.
A Confucian standing on the shore of a flowing river, hands behind his back, his sleeves billowing around him.
A sword cultivator facing away from the masses, his sword intent bearing down on the heavens.
All four images were shrouded in chaos mist, preventing Su Yi from seeing their faces clearly.
A sudden revelation appeared in Su Yi’s heart. This treasure was known as the Cauldron of Epochs!
It was born of the River of Epoch’s source. It had appeared in every epoch civilization, bearing witness to both their births and to their ultimate demises.
There was no appraising the Cauldron of Epochs, as it was the only treasure ever born of the River of Epochs.
Anyone who gained control over it would effectively become the incarnation of the Dao. They could rewrite the natural order and Laws of the River of Epochs!
This was the origin of the Cauldron of Epochs. It was the key to becoming the ruler of the epochs.
Typically, the Bringer of Order presided over only the present epoch.
But with the Cauldron of Epochs, he’d preside over the River of Epochs in its entirety, including the epochs of the past and future!
The implications were enormous. It naturally wouldn’t do to diminish this.
And the four indistinct figures floating around the cauldron each had extraordinary origins. Each had used the cauldron before!
