Chapter 2657 - Fanning the Flames
Chapter 2657 – Fanning the Flames
In front of the spatial fault.
A crowd of elites had gathered. Experts were as numerous as the clouds. Pick any one of them at random, and you’d have someone capable of intimidating the whole world.
Such scenes were rare even on the River of Destiny.
And now, all of these experts were watching Su Yi and the Dipankara Buddha.
They naturally understood who Su Yi was, but the Dipankara Buddha was relatively mysterious and unusual.
Most of them knew that this was the founder of the Western Paradise Spirit Mountains, but only a handful knew that the Dipankara Buddha’s origins went deeper than that.
He wasn’t originally from the God Domain. Rather, he was from the Eternal Heavens Domain’s Spirit Mountain Buddhist Court!
In terms of strength and position, the Unfettered Realm Eternals present were far from comparable.
“Lots of people are eager to sever their enmities with you,” the Dipankara Buddha said calmly. “I just hope you’ll live long enough that we get the chance to sever ours.”
“I will,” Su Yi said casually.
The Dipankara Buddha had nothing to say to that. He turned and rejoined his companions, a gray-robed man who looked as delicate as a youth.
When he saw the Dipankara Buddha return, the young monk in gray said softly, “You’re afflicted with anger. That’s not good.”
The Dipankara Buddha froze, stunned, then said, “Even a Bodhisattva can frown, and a Golden Vajra ought to be fierce. An irreconcilable enmity exists between him and I. If I suppress my murderous intent, it’ll create a mental knot and prevent my thoughts from flowing smoothly.”
The young monk in gray pursed his lips and said nothing.
“Su Yi, where is that black sheep? Why don’t I see it anywhere?” Yu Chiyang asked, his eyes glinting coldly.
Many of the others’ expressions grew strange.
Di E furrowed his brow and glowered. You just had to bring that up, huh?
Just a few days prior, the black sheep had forced Di E back.
Later, it intervened and carried Su Yi away before Yu Chiyang’s attack landed, making his ambush attempt hit nothing but air. In the process, Yu Chiyang lost yet another clone.
Others might not have known about these incidents, but the Eternals watching from beyond the God Domain saw it all clearly.
Thus, when Yu Chiyang brought it up, they couldn’t help but be curious.
“It’s right there,” said Su Yi. “If you didn’t notice it, you have only yourself to blame for your poor perception.”
The crowd was stunned, but indeed, when they looked over, they saw a black sheep standing just ten thousand feet away from Su Yi. It was gazing coldly at Yu Chiyang as if saying, “You really are blind!”
The crowd stirred. Many of the prominent experts’ eyebrows rose.
They really hadn’t noticed the black sheep’s presence!
This was far too shocking. After all, given the gathered experts’ cultivation bases, they should have been able to see through all means of hiding one’s presence.
Yet none of them had sensed the black sheep’s presence. That proved one thing beyond a doubt: the black sheep’s cultivation base wasn’t any weaker than theirs!
It might have been even stronger!
Yu Chiyang fell into a daze. He really hadn’t realized that the black sheep had been there this entire time!
“It’s here. Do you have anything else to say?” Su Yi gently reminded him. “If you want to attack, this is a rare opportunity. That is, if you dare to take it.”
Yu Chiyang’s expression shifted erratically. Su Yi was clearly fanning the flames!
The black sheep looked askance at Su Yi. It hadn’t anticipated that Su Yi was so wicked. He obviously wants to see the two of us fight!
It’s just… is that guy worthy of fighting me? The black sheep snorted derisively. It couldn’t be bothered to pay Yu Chiyang any heed.
Meanwhile, everyone else looked at Yu Chiyang, eager to see how he’d respond.
The Master of Legends, Wang Zhiwu, seemed to fear nothing more than peace. He shouted, “Yu Chiyang, you specifically asked to see Fellow Daoist Black Sheep. Why is it that you’re now too scared to even utter a peep?”
Many of the others laughed, their gazes playful.
These experts hailed from different camps. Not all of them were Yu Chiyang’s allies, and many of them were delighted to watch this spectacle.
Yu Chiyang’s expression darkened. He’d already lost two clones in a row. If he lost this one too, he would undoubtedly face a Karmic Tribulation!
And the black sheep’s strength seemed unfathomable. Given the circumstances, how could he dare to attack recklessly?
Yu Chiyang suddenly turned to glare murderously at Wang Zhiwu. “Wang Zhiwu, quit trying to cause trouble. I’ll settle things with you once we’ve reached Red Pine Mountain!”
“Coward!” Wang Zhiwu sneered.
Then, he disregarded Yu Chiyang and turned his attention to Di E. “What about you, Di E? Fellow Daoist Black Sheep sent you scampering off in panic, too. Dare you try for a rematch with our fellow Daoist now?”
The crowd exchanged glances. They hadn’t guessed that the Master of Legends would seize this opportunity to fan the flames with such exuberance.
Di E gazed coldly at Wang Zhiwu. All he said was, “Setting aside the rest, as punishment for what you just said, I’ll break your legs once we’ve returned to the River of Destiny. Let’s see if you can still jump around then!”
Wang Zhiwu’s eyebrows rose. He was just about to say something when Su Yi transmitted, “He’s no longer the original Di E, you know. He’s been possessed by someone called Heavenly Sovereign E.”
A Heavenly Sovereign!? Wang Zhiwu’s expression froze, and he sucked in a breath of cold air.
But then, without any outward change of expression, he transmitted to Su Yi, “I’m not afraid! In any event, I’ve already offended him. I’ll just pretend I don’t know who he is.”
He suddenly pointed at Di E. “If you’ve got the balls, fight Fellow Daoist Black Sheep here and now. If you don’t, shut your mouth!”
Su Yi was stunned. He hadn’t anticipated that Wang Zhiwu would be so gutsy.
Di E glowered. His eyes flashed with irrepressible murderous intent.
But in the end, he said nothing. He just stood there, but his calm expression made Wang Zhiwu’s hair stand on end.
He dared say with certainty that this unknown Heavenly Sovereign had committed him to memory!
But when he realized that he’d already irrevocably offended him, Wang Zhiwu went all out. He pointed at Di E and said, “Listen up! Going forward, I’ll fight you every time I see you!”
“….” The crowd didn’t know what to say.
Di E suddenly laughed and inclined his head. “Alright.”
It was just one word, and his voice didn’t so much as ripple with emotion, yet everyone felt a chill course through their hearts, and all of them sensed formless pressure bearing down on them.
Wang Zhiwu hurriedly transmitted to Su Yi, “Bro, this time, I went all out for your sake. You can’t let anything happen to you on Red Pine Mountain. I’m counting on you to protect me on the River of Destiny later!”
“…” Su Yi didn’t know what to say.
Wang Zhiwu laughed. “I’m joking. Don’t feel any pressure. I’m not afraid just because he’s a Heavenly Sovereign. Worst case scenario, I can cling to the Red-Robed Heavenly Sovereign for protection!”
Su Yi was once more at a loss for words. Still, he remembered Wang Zhiwu telling him about the only Heavenly Sovereign he admired, Lu Hongpao, otherwise known as the Red-Robed Heavenly Sovereign.
There was no doubt about it. Wang Zhiwu didn’t just admire Lu Hongpao. The two were clearly acquainted!
Ripples suddenly arose from deep within the spacetime fault.
Whoosh!
Everyone instantly looked over, then saw an unimaginably ancient, enormous mountain silently drawing closer and closer, swathed in dense chaos qi.
Everyone immediately moved further away.
Before they could even steady themselves, a massive impact rang out, shaking the entire area.
The enormous mountain shrouded in chaos qi was actually forcing its way out of the fault, filling heaven and earth!
Boom!
The entire Central Divine Continent shook violently. The sky quivered, rumbling and booming like thunder.
The chaos qi enshrouding the mountain collapsed like an avalanche.
The experts originally gathered near the spacetime fault instantly retreated. None of them dared to linger.
The mountain extended continuously into the outside world, shattering the sky and bearing down on heaven and earth. Its slopes stretched beyond the cloudy dome of heaven.
The current of chaos power emanating from it was terrifying beyond imagination. Those among the gathered experts who retreated slower than the others were sent flying, repeatedly hacking up mouthfuls of blood!
Countless people looked stricken.
The group had to retreat many tens of thousands of miles before the mountain finally stopped.
The chaos power emanating from it hadn’t subsided. Rather, it transformed into layers upon layers of the power of the natural order, surrounding the mountain on all sides.
Kaboom!
Chaos qi flowed like the tide, coursing along the mountain’s slopes. It rumbled like thunder, booming throughout the nine heavens and the ten earths.
The mountain seemed fast beyond imagination. It filled every last inch of sky, its peak extending beyond the firmament. It seemed endless.
And a gate formed out of chaos power appeared directly before the mountain.
Everyone stopped in place and gazed at the incomprehensibly enormous mountain that had arisen out of the spacetime fault. Everyone looked astonished and eager, and everyone’s eyes filled with longing.
Red Pine Mountain!
The greatest divine mountain in the entire God Domain, and the heart of its chaos source.
No one knew how tall it was, how big it was, or how wide it was. It was impossible to measure!
Rumors of this mountain had circulated since the earliest days of the God Domain’s history.
Those cultivators of the early days of the God Domain who’d managed to reach Eternity practically all made it to the mountain!
It was mysterious and full of mysteries and secrets. One of the God Domain’s two great forbidden zones, Beneath the Nine Abysses, lay at its base.
That was where the Great Extinguishing, the cataclysm that destroyed the Central Divine Continent, had arisen.
Red Pine Mountain was the heart of the God Domain, the origin of its Daos and its Laws of the natural order!
It would also be the site of the Battle for Order!
Now, countless years later, this mysterious mountain had re-entered the world.
Never mind the inhabitants of the God Domain, even the experts of the River of Destiny were moved. They could sense how special this mountain was.
The chaos qi blanketing the mountain even had a hint of Eternal charm!
Beyond the God Domain, those prominent experts watching from across endless time and space looked over, but all they saw was endless chaos.
Not even they could determine just how enormous Red Pine Mountain was.
Because only a portion of Red Pine Mountain was visible. The rest was still hidden within the spacetime fault!
Red Pine Mountain sure is something, thought Su Yi.
Yi Daoxuan and Li Fuyou’s memories contained many rumors surrounding Red Pine Mountain, but both of them had lived and died without ever seeing it.
Because Red Pine Mountain never appeared during their lifetimes.
But now, Su Yi saw it!
He had a sudden, powerful premonition. This will be the place I prove my Dao and enter Eternity!
He was incomparably certain of it.
