Chapter 2601 - The Myriad Daos Alliance
Chapter 2601 – The Myriad Daos Alliance
As he pondered, something suddenly occurred to Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu. Wait, did that unfamiliar sword cultivator come on Su Yi’s account?
That’s most likely the case!
Just a few days ago, Qing Li’s avatar of will killed three of Su Yi’s people. Now, a mysterious sword cultivator came looking for trouble. How could that possibly be a coincidence?
Having realized this, something else occurred to Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu. Was the ‘boss’ that sword cultivator spoke of perhaps yet another of Su Yi’s past lives?
The thought made his heart shake. He couldn’t help but gasp. That would be far too terrifying!
That patriarch of Three Purities Temple already recognized him as someone from the All-Profound Dominion on the Far Shore of the River of Destiny!
If Su Yi’s past life was that man’s boss… how terrifying was Su Yi in that past life?
If the old-timers of the Eternal Heavens Domain knew that Su Yi’s past lives weren’t limited to the Greatest of the Unthroned, and that he had yet another past incarnation even someone like that calls him ‘boss’… what would they think?
The more he thought about it, the more Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu’s heart sank. If his analysis was accurate, it would mean that the vast majority of those on the River of Destiny were severely underestimating Su Yi’s terrifyingness!
It’s good I came and saw this unparalleled battle for myself. I’ve grasped some of the truth. If I hadn’t… I’m afraid I’d still be in the dark and at risk of unpredictable peril.
He quietly celebrated this discovery and resolved to do his utmost to avoid any further conflict with Su Yi.
Not long ago, in Five Lightning Temple, Su Yi erased the Fragment of Heaven’s Will he’d marked and slapped him in the face. He’d taken this for a grave humiliation.
But now, Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu felt that a mere slap was nothing at all.
Just look at Three Purities Temple. Their Lower Court’s sign had been destroyed, and even after their patriarch’s avatar arrived, they failed to stop the culprit from fleeing.
A slap and a lost Fragment of Heaven’s Will were trivial by comparison!
“Fellow Daoist, after everything that happened here, we’re in no mood to entertain. Please leave,” Qing Shi said out of nowhere.
Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu understood. I chose to remain a bystander earlier. That clearly displeased them, so they’re kicking me out without the slightest politeness.
He hesitated briefly, then clasped his fist. “Fellow Daoist, before I go, might I ask the name of Su Yi’s other past life?”
He really wasn’t willing to leave without an answer to this question.
Qing Shi fell briefly silent, then said softly, “Xiao Jian!”
Xiao Jian! Is that that swordsman’s boss? Heaven Sovereign Wuxu silently committed the name to memory, then considerately bade farewell and left without any further questions.
Qing Li watched him fade away, then said suddenly, “He most likely assumes that Xiao Jian is that sword cultivator’s boss.”
Only Three Purities Temple knew it, but Xiao Jian and “the boss” weren’t the same person.
But not even the experts of the Lower Court knew who “the boss” really was.
“So what if he misunderstood? How is that our problem? He chose to remain a bystander today. He’s no ally of ours,” Qing Shi said expressionlessly.
Qing Li couldn’t help but ask, “Senior Apprentice Brother, do you know who that sword cultivator’s boss is?”
Qing Shi shook his head. Only experts on the level of the patriarch knew that.
It was a pity… but the patriarch was extremely tight-lipped. Qing Shi didn’t even know if he was unwilling to discuss it, or if he simply didn’t think they were qualified to learn such information.
“In any event, going forward, let’s do as the patriarch says and avoid further trouble,” said Qing Shi. He was looking directly at Qing Li. “If someone destroys our sign again, the patriarch won’t let us off so easily!”
The warning was readily apparent.
Qing Li’s expression shifted. In the end, he just nodded in silence.
……
The River of Destiny, a world of lava.
“Ol’ Turtle, I brought the sword back!” Li Sansheng reluctantly took out Snow Cap.
Whoosh!
The sword flew into the air and vanished into the lava.
Li Sansheng couldn’t help but feel betrayed. His expression darkened, and he murmured, “Boss’s sword doesn’t acknowledge me at all… Is it because I failed to cut Purple Firmament Mountain in two? That’s got to be it…”
He hung his head in dejection and sighed.
“Cut the crap. How’d it go?” The turtle’s mountainous head emerged from the lava.
“I fulfilled my orders,” said Li Sansheng, pounding his chest. “I sent word to the boss. He even praised me lavishly.”
Li Sansheng had been hanging his head just moments prior, but now, he instantly perked up. He looked downright smug.
“How’d he praise you?” exclaimed the turtle.
“Boss said, ‘Good!’”
“Good?” The turtle froze, stunned, then burst into sputtering laughter. “It was just one word. You call that lavish praise?”
“The hell do you know?” Li Sansheng glared. “Boss is the strong, silent type. The weight of a single word is enough to keep me celebrating for a long time!”
As he spoke, he smacked his butt, then turned to leave.
“You’re injured?” The turtle asked suddenly. “Someone in the Lower Court of Three Purities Temple actually managed to injure you?”
Li Sansheng suddenly looked a bit ill at ease. Still, he seemed to realize he couldn’t deceive the turtle. In the end, he just sighed, “That old charlatan Greater Purity disregarded the Eternal Pact and forcefully sent an avatar of will to Purple Firmament Mountain.”
“No wonder,” said the old turtle. A wisp of fiery spirit medicine appeared in front of Li Sansheng. “Take this to treat your wounds.”
An Eternal medicine!
Li Sansheng accepted it without the slightest politeness. “I’ve got to go! My wife is waiting for me to come home for a drink!”
Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, he vanished.
The old turtle muttered to itself, “You were so badly injured, yet you insisted on putting on a strong front? You haven’t changed a bit, Li sansheng. You’d die before losing face. That said… managing to escape that old charlatan Greater Purity is indeed praiseworthy.”
As it muttered to itself, its massive head silently vanished into the lava.
……
An island floating in a sea of lightning.
“Honey, bring out the wine!” Li Sansheng’s voice emanated from afar.
His wife had been waiting for him this whole time, her heart on tenterhooks. She instantly relaxed, set a jug of wine on the table, and personally filled his cup.
Her man had returned from his journey. It was only right that she comforted him.
Then, no matter how far he traveled in the future, he’d always be thinking of home.
……
Late at night, the streets of a little city were all but deserted. The lights had gone out, and few pedestrians remained on the streets.
Su Yi sat alone in one of the few inns yet to close, the mottled lamplight illuminating his figure.
He was the only customer left, but the proprietor didn’t rush him. He just sat there drinking, humming an indistinct little tune. It was low and hoarse, yet valiant and bold.
“What song is that?” asked Su Yi.
“I don’t know the name,” said the proprietor, “But it’s apparently a song of farewell. It’s been circulating around the city for a long time. Do you like it, sir?”
“It’s quite good,” said Su Yi. He took another sip of wine.
How many could avoid grief when parting?
Yet this nameless song of farewell was valiant and bold. Its extraordinariness was readily apparent.
“Thank you.” After finishing his wine, Su Yi paid, clasped his fist, and left.
“Why thank me?” The proprietor was a bit dazed. What did I do to deserve thanks? What a strange fellow.
He didn’t know it, but all Su Yi had wanted was quiet.
Yet against all expectations, the little song he’d heard while drinking alone at night had soothed his heart.
Su Yi walked alone through the empty streets, his gait gradually growing lighter. He’d regained his usual calm.
The dead were gone, but there was still a future to look forward to!
Mu Bai, Ji Heng, and Jian Dushan were dead. Now it was time to steady his heart and strive to advance higher and further in his pursuit of the Dao!
Although Su Yi didn’t know it, someone had destroyed the Lower Court of Three Purities Temple’s sign.
The heart devil didn’t say anything to him. All he’d wanted was to vent.
Only that and nothing more.
If the old charlatans of Three Purities Temple bullied his reincarnation, weren’t they effectively slapping him in the face, too?
How could he possibly tolerate that?
…
Su Yi resumed his journey, exploring the God Domain as before. He was both gathering Fragments of Heaven’s Will and bearing witness to the changes of the Dark Days of Legend.
Soon, a month had passed.
…
The peak of Jiuhua Mountain.
The Heavenly Court of the Five Sovereigns had invited factions from spacetime forbidden zones across the God Domain for an assembly.
They were to discuss an alliance of spacetime forbidden zones, which they’d named the Myriad Daos Alliance.
It was formed primarily of thirteen leading factions of different epoch civilizations, as well as thirty-six other factions of other spacetimes.
These included several that Su Yi was familiar with, like Blue Sparrow Daoist Court, Flying Serpent Daoist Court, and Five Lightning Temple.
Their ranks also included a few ancient orthodoxies of the God Domain’s unknown territories.
And it was the Heavenly Court of the Five Sovereigns that led the alliance!
The establishment of the Myriad Daos Alliance shook the entire God Domain, stirring up massive waves of uproar.
Not long ago, Di E had personally established the New World Alliance. Now, the factions of other spacetimes had established an alliance of their own.
This naturally seemed deliberate, as if the two alliances were created to oppose each other.
The day the Myriad Daos Alliance took shape, its leaders, the Heavenly Court of the Five Sovereigns, made three major public announcements.
