Chapter 2464 - The Qilin Divine Race’s Situation

Chapter 2464 – The Qilin Divine Race’s Situation

The Endless Ocean. Sunset Perch Island.

The peach trees covering the island were in full bloom, their blossoms blazing like fire beneath the light of dawn. Blue waves flapped the white sandy shores, the sound like the music of nature.

Mu Bai sat cross-legged on a seaside boulder, studying the Dao of the Saber.

He’d always been like this. He was intoxicated by his cultivation, fully immersed, to the point of forgetting himself. When he focused, he neither ate nor drank.

Yi Chen had rolled up his pant legs, and he was taking a stroll on the beach. He wore plain clothing, and as he walked, his tall, thin figure exuded an air of transcendent elegance

“Young Master, are you worried about Master?” The River Child asked with a smile.

Sunset Perch Island was covered in numerous wondrous foundations. They blocked the mysteries of the heavens, so the River Child had no need to fear a backlash of the Laws here.

“Does he need me to worry about him?” Yi Chen asked distractedly.

The River Child sighed. “Well, I’m a bit worried about him. It’s been over a year since he left. I wonder how he’s doing?”

Yi Chen pursed his lips. “Asking me will do you no good. You ought to investigate for yourself.”

The River Child smiled. “You want to know too, don’t you, Young Master?”

Yi Chen said nothing. He’d long since gotten used to the River Child’s personality. He knew the River Child was shameless, and that if he paid any attention to him, he’d stick to him like toffee.

“I actually rather hope that when Master returns, you’ll spend a bit more time with him. Just chatting casually would be plenty,” said the River Child. “I’m sure Master would be gratified, and I’m sure his impression of you would change.”

Yi Chen furrowed his brow. He finally couldn’t help but argue. “Why should I have to go out of my way to win his favor? And why should I care if he changes his mind about me?”

Yan Chizhen and Zang Wushu were drinking off in the distance. When they overheard this conversation, they couldn’t help but find the situation a pity.

Yi Chen was stubborn. His unyielding pride was bone deep. In that regard, he and his father were much alike.

Even now, Yi Chen had never once brought up his father with any of them.

Yan Chizhen and Zang Wushu actually rather admired his stubbornness. A little pride wasn’t a bad thing. If Yi Chen were a meek, obedient tagalong of a son, they’d have been disappointed in him.

“Is there any word of Fellow Daoist Su, you two?” A beautiful figure approached from afar.

Luo Xuanji!

Even in a plain black dress with no further adornments, there was no disguising her unparalleled beauty or proud majesty.

“There hasn’t been any news.” Yan Chizhen shook his head.

He and Zang Wushu had already learned Luo Xuanji’s identity. They knew she was a terrifying figure who’d survived the disappearance of a long-vanished Epoch. In terms of strength, she wasn’t at all inferior to either of them.

Zang Wushu said, “Five Desires and Treasure Leaf have been keeping tabs on developments in the outside world. I trust that they’ll inform us as soon as there’s news.”

Luo Xuanji inclined her head, but just as she was about to leave, a burst of laughter emanated from over the horizon.

“Everyone, there’s word of Ol’ Devil Yi!”

The voice went off like a thunderclap, booming beneath the skies over Sunset Perch Island.

Two figures shot over accompanying this voice. They were none other than Demon Ancestor Treasure Leaf and Demon Venerate Five Desires!

At that moment, Mu Bai, who’d been totally immersed in his cultivation, suddenly opened his eyes and got up.

Yi Chen, who was strolling along the shore, stiffened. His eyes silently lit up.

The River Child noticed the shift in his expression, and he couldn’t help but find it amusing. The kid’s got a stubborn mouth on him, but he really does care about Master!

Zang Wushu let out a deep breath and murmured, “I’m just glad he came back.”

Yan Chizhen smiled, too.

Everyone on Sunset Perch Island set aside whatever they were doing and rushed over to hear the news, including Madam Mei and Old Yao White Bones.

The Five Desires Demon Venerate went on to tell them of Su Yi’s return from the Boundless Battlefield, as well as the battle in the Hazy Sea Forbidden Zone. He laid everything out in full detail.

Everyone was in uproar. They were all both delighted and shocked.

Su Yi hadn’t just returned. He’d successfully saved some of his old friends stuck in the Boundless Battlefield!

Moreover, in the Hazy Sea Forbidden Zone, even Di E viewed Su Yi with trepidation, and he and his allies successfully slew Master God God Tian Huang!

Master Gods Yun He and Yun Xiao, the face of the strongest faction in the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent, had been forced to flee for their lives!

Who wouldn’t have been shocked?

As the crowd took in the news with excitement, a group suddenly appeared over the distant seas.

Each had a more terrifying aura than the one before, and wherever they passed, the sea churned, the sky turned color, and the air rumbled like thunder and lightning.

Many of those on the shore looked stricken. Who are they? Don’t tell me we’re under attack?

Everyone looked toward the source of the disturbance.

But when he saw these new arrivals clearly, the typically taciturn Zang Wushu broke into uncharacteristic laughter. He was the first to shoot into the air and clasp his fist in greeting. “Long time no see, fellow Daoists!”

His voice boomed like the roar of a dragon, echoing far and wide.

“Hahaha, Zang Wushu!” Another burst of laughter echoed throughout the firmament.

Around ten people rushed toward the island. By now, many of those on the shore had recognized them. These were none other than Wen Qingfeng, Jian Dushan, Ji Heng, and the others!

As their identities became clear, the crowd sighed in relief, and all of them grew excited.

Before long, the group arrived on the shore of Sunset Perch Island, and everyone got acquainted.

“So, you’re Mu Bai? Brother Fuyou told me about you in the Boundless Battlefield. You’re truly not bad!” Wen Qingfeng looked Mu Bai up and down approvingly.

“Senior Su mentioned me…?” Mu Bai couldn’t help but be flattered. He was steady by nature, and a man of few words. When an old monster returned from the Boundless Battlefield, only to lavish praise upon him, he found it a bit hard to adjust.

“Of course!” laughed Ji Heng. “It’s incredibly rare for the Butcher to think so highly of a youngster.”

Everyone else smiled and nodded. During their year or so together in the Boundless Battlefield, Su Yi had told them a lot, including about Sunset Perch Island.

“Yi Chen, this is your uncle’s greeting gift. Take it!” Jian Dushan took out a spatial ring full of Undying Spirit Crystals and passed it to Yi Chen with a smile.

“Mu Bai, this is for you.” Jian Dushan then took out another identical ring and gave it to Mu Bai, the very picture of generosity.

The other old monsters reacted instantly. All of them took out treasures they’d been keeping in storage as gifts for Mu Bai and Yi Chen.

Both juniors were stunned. A whole group of old monsters was practically forcing them to accept piles of rare and precious treasure. They couldn’t refuse even if they wanted to!

The others watched this play out with a smile.

Madam Mei and the other divine wraiths stood at the periphery.

Admittedly, they’d once been Undying Realm experts, but here on Sunset Perch Island, just about everyone was stronger and more prestigious than them.

Mu Bai and Yi Chen were exceptions, but their statuses were extraordinary. The wraiths couldn’t compare.

When the wraiths saw the old monsters’ gifts, they couldn’t help but gasp. How are those ‘greeting gifts?’ Every… every last one of them is a grand stroke of good fortune, the type that can only be happened upon by chance! They’re enough to make even Undying Realm Master Gods go red-eyed with greed!

Yet now, those old-timers are dumping them on juniors like they’re worthless!

It was immediately obvious how wealthy those who’d made it back from the Boundless Battlefield alive were.

It was also obvious how much weight Su Yi’s face carried!

If Yi Chen was anyone else’s son, or if Su Yi hadn’t taken notice of Mu Bai, how could they have received such generosity?

Mu Bai was flustered. Yi Chen was stunned. Both were totally overwhelmed by the old monsters’ generosity.

The River Child couldn’t help but laugh just watching them.

Finally, Zang Wushu couldn’t help but ask, “Where is Brother Fuyou? Didn’t he come back with you?”

All eyes turned toward Wen Qingfeng and the others.

“He went to the Eastern Victory Divine Continent. He said he needed to visit the Qilin,” explained Wen Qingfeng.

It turned out that after they left the Hazy Sea Forbidden Zone, Su Yi stopped at one of the Qilin Trading Company’s branches in the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent. He’d originally planned to use their transmission array to teleport closer to Sunset Perch Island.

However, when he arrived, Su Yi changed his mind and ordered Wen Qingfeng and the others to head to Sunset Perch Island without him. Su Yi, meanwhile, set course for the Eastern Victory Divine Continent on his own. He said he had urgent business and needed to visit the Qilin immediately.

But he didn’t share any of the details.

Everyone finally understood.

When Yi Chen learned that his father had returned from the Boundless Battlefield, only to head straight for the Eastern Victory Divine Continent, he couldn’t help but feel a bit despondent.

He’d planned to try and have a proper conversation with Su Yi when he got back. Who’d have thought he wouldn’t get the chance?

“The Qilin? Don’t tell me they ran into trouble?” Zang Wushu looked at Demon Venerate Five Desires.

They’d spent the past year or so cultivating on Sunset Perch Island, but they weren’t entirely ignorant of what went on in the outside world.

Demon Venerate Five Desires had been tasked with gathering information in the outside world.

“As the managers of one of the three great trading companies, the Qilin Divine Race’s foundations are incomparably deep. Who’d dare to provoke them lightly?”

Demon Venerate Five Desires shook his head. “I haven’t heard anything about the Qilin Trading Company running into difficulty over the past year.”

Everyone frowned.

But then, it was true that, given the Qilin Trading Company’s status, if they ran into trouble, word would quickly spread across the entire God Domain.

“Isn’t it better that they aren’t in trouble?” laughed Yan Chizhen. “Seems to me that we needn’t worry for nothing. Given Brother Daoxuan’s strength, where in the God Domain can’t he go?”

“That’s right,” said Zang Wushu. “If he really needs our help, I’m sure he won’t be polite.”

Everyone nodded.

That very evening, the Lord of Sleepless Nights arranged a sumptuous banquet to welcome Wen Qingfeng and the others back.

During the feast, they shared tales of Su Yi’s accomplishments in the Boundless Battlefield. Everyone’s hearts quivered, and they were repeatedly astonished.

They were only just now realizing how perilous this trip to the Boundless Battlefield had been!

Yet Su Yi had managed to turn the situation around, and he was the one laughing in the end, the ultimate victor. Waves of emotion coursed through the audience’s hearts, and they sighed and exclaimed repeatedly.

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Victory Divine Continent.

A treasure ship flew beneath the dome of heaven. Su Yi was sprawled out on board in his wicker chair. He held a jug of wine, but even after a long time passed, he never once took a sip.

He was pondering the Qilin Race’s situation.
