Chapter 2352 - The Weapon Remains, but the Owner Has Changed

Chapter 2352 – The Weapon Remains, but the Owner Has Changed

The River Child glanced at the beaming young woman in red, then looked away.

As if he couldn’t be bothered to pay her any heed.

The young woman in red giggled. “Hey, little guy. Big sister has lots of good things to eat. Why not try them?”

As she spoke, she opened her palm, and all manner of snacks and refreshments floated into the air.

The River Child was at a loss for words. Has this little girl really taken me for a little kid?

“No need to be embarrassed. Go on, take them.” The girl walked over, then set the treats in front of the River Child. She raised her hand to tousle his hair, only for him to dodge.

The depths of his gaze flashed with ferocious light, but just as he was about to lose his temper, Su Yi looked at him.

He didn’t say anything, but the River Child wilted like a defrosted eggplant, pursed his lips, and said nothing.

The young woman in red didn’t notice. She had no idea that her inadvertent gesture had almost invited an enormous catastrophe.

However, the scholarly middle-aged man seated nearby seemed to notice something. “Xian’er, don’t be rude. Get back here.”

The scholarly middle-aged man then clasped his fist, faced Su Yi, and said apologetically, “My daughter is rash and impetuous, and she speaks without a filter. I humbly request your understanding.”

Su Yi nodded. “I understand.”

The girl was just about to say something when the middle-aged man broke into hacking coughs. She instantly cast all other thoughts aside and hurried back to him. “Father, are you alright?”

Exhaustion appeared on the man’s face, and his complexion was increasingly pallid. Nonetheless, he waved dismissively. “It’s nothing.”

The young woman said with deep concern, “Father, rest assured. On this trip to Seven-Star City, I’ll definitely help you acquire…”

But before she could finish her sentence, the scholarly middle-aged man said, “Never mind all that.”

The young woman froze, then looked around. When she realized how many people were in earshot, she instantly fell silent.

“Your Excellency, if not for you, I’d have long since taught that foolish little girl a thing for two!” transmitted the River Child. He sounded a bit resentful.

Su Yi found this rather amusing. “She took you for a little kid and even offered you snacks. How could you reject her kindness?”

He could tell that the young woman wasn’t doing it on purpose; she really did just mistake the River Child for an adorable little boy.

“Argh.” The River Child sighed but said no more on the matter. ꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛʀs, ᴘʟᴀs ᴠsᴛ novel⸺fire.net

Su Yi said no more either. He just raised his jug of wine and drank alone.

An hour later, a tall, powerfully built man in gray entered the restaurant, hurried over to the scholarly middle-aged man’s side, and transmitted, “Master, we’ve been tricked. This is a trap. We have to hurry up and leave!”

The middle-aged man’s pupils constricted, but he nodded calmly. “Don’t disturb anyone else on board. We’ll set off immediately.”

“Understood!” The man in gray rushed off.

The middle-aged scholar rose, then said gently, “Xian’er, we have to leave.”

The young woman was stunned. “Where are we going?”

“Home,” the middle-aged man said with a laugh. “Let’s go quickly.”

Then, without leaving her any room to argue, he took her hand and let her outside the restaurant.

“I’m afraid that father-daughter duo has run into a real thorny situation this time,” said the River Child. He sounded a bit gleeful.

Su Yi set down his jug of wine, rose, and said, “Let’s go.”

“What are you going to do, Your Excellency?” exclaimed the River Child.

Su Yi gestured to the snacks placed in front of him. “One good turn deserves another. I’m going to exchange a peach for a pear.”

The River Child was flabbergasted. You’re going to repay them? For that?

But before he could ask any further questions, Su Yi proceeded out of the restaurant.

“Strange. Don’t tell me there’s a problem with that father-daughter duo’s identity, and that they’ve long since been targeted?”

The River Child hurriedly picked up the black umbrella and gave chase.

……

The skies were clear and blue, and the surface of the sea was calm.

The ocean stretched as far as the eye could see. It was impossible to tell where exactly one was.

As soon as Su Yi and the River Child exited the restaurant, they saw a strange scene from the side of the boat.

An enormous skeletal hand had emerged from the depths of that boundlessly vast ocean.

The skeletal hand was fully nine hundred thousand feet across. The snow-white fingers were like divine pillars holding up the heavens, but they were swathed in black divine flames. The hand silently emerged from the water, holding the “merely” ten-thousand-foot-long tower ship aloft.

Looking down from on high, the ship held aloft by the skeletal hand looked like a little box. It wasn’t at all eye-catching.

A moment later, the giant skeletal hand’s fingers closed. It was obviously trying to crush the tower ship to pieces!

But at a critical juncture, a cold snort rang out in a voice that boomed like thunder. “Scram!”

A dazzling, eye-catching streak of purple light rose into the heavens with unstoppable force. It effortlessly cleaved off three of the skeletal hand’s fingers!

The skeletal hand shook violently, then shrank and vanished into the seawater.

Practically simultaneously, an agonized voice emanated from the depths of the ocean.

Su Yi could see that the attacker was a tall, powerfully built man in gray, the same one who’d just reported the situation to the scholarly middle-aged man and the young woman in red.

Three people stood beneath the dome of heaven, their whole bodies swathed in flowing divine flames and emanating misty light.

Boom!

Massive waves churned. The entire stretch of ocean was suddenly turbulent, with massive waves assailing the skies. One figure after another shot forth.

All of them emanated ferocious momentum. There were thirty of them in total, and they worked together to seal the entire stretch of ocean off on all sides.

Startled cries arose on deck. Everyone was frantic, terrified, and ill at ease.

The middle-aged scholar stood beneath the dome of heaven and said in a voice that boomed far and wide, “Don’t panic, everyone. It’s me they’re after. I’ll make sure all of you leave safely.”

“You’re worried about strangers’ lives even at a time like this? You really are big-hearted, Yan Beixue,” a handsome man in golden robes said with a laugh.

He stood in the distance on the back of a skeletal bird. He looked young and promising, and he emanated the characteristic aura of a Greater God.

A group of terrifying experts gathered around him, like stars clustered around the moon. Shockingly, their ranks included two Master Gods!

One was a decrepit elder in Daoist robes. He gripped a black fly whisk.

The other was a curly bearded man in bronze armor. He stood there with his arms crossed, a massive, crudely forged, blood-red halberd on his back.

Everyone working together to seal the area off was a god, and even the weakest of them was in the Limit Realm!

It was a scene of gods marching into battle. Their lineup was so terrifying that countless passengers’ hearts quivered.

“He sure is arrogant,” grumbled the River Child.

Su Yi said nothing. He just stood there and watched, all the while lost in thought.

“Rest assured. I won’t run away, so let the tower ship leave,” said the scholarly middle-aged man, Yan Beixue. “Otherwise, what will the experts of the Endless Ocean think when they find out that the gods of the Spirit Vessel Yao Court wantonly massacred the innocent?”

Spirit Vessel Yao Court!

The passengers were astonished. They finally understood where these people had come from: one of the mightiest, most ancient factions in the Endless Ocean!

Their destination, Seven-Star City, was backed by Spirit Vessel Yao Court! It was thanks to the sect’s protection that almost no one had ever dared to cause trouble in city limits over the years.

“What ‘wantonly massacring the innocent?’ Even if we killed everyone on board, it would be because you implicated them, Yan Beixue!” The golden-robed young man sneered from atop the skeletal bird. “Of course, if you surrender and come quietly, I actually wouldn’t mind being compassionate and letting the tower ship leave.”

Everyone on board felt despair wash over them.

“It seems to me that you people aren’t enough to threaten me,” Yan Beixue said calmly.

“Yan Beixue, no need to bluff any longer,” laughed the golden-robed young man. “Others might not realize it, but you and I both know how severe your Dao Wounds are. If this turns into a fight, you’re sure to lose!

Yan Beixue frowned. “How did you find out about that?”

“I’ll naturally tell you… after we’ve captured you,” said the golden-robed young man. With that, he waved his arm and bellowed, “Attack! Capture him, and remember: leave him alive!”

His voice boomed throughout the surrounding area.

“Got it!” All of the experts gathered nearby attacked at once. From beginning to end, the gods of Spirit Vessel Yao Court paid the life and death of the passengers no heed.

Their cold indifference made all of the passengers give in to despair.

However, Yan Beixue didn’t disregard them. He immediately used an ancient golden Daoist seal to protect the ship.

The seal lit up, emanating one hundred thousand feet of divine radiance and protecting the ship completely.

“By comparison, that Yan Beixue guy really isn’t bad,” said the River Child. “He knows what should and shouldn’t be done. He’s got lines he won’t cross and breadth of spirit!”

Su Yi said nothing.

A grand battle had already begun.

The young man in golden robes hadn’t attacked, but the two Master Gods accompanying him both attacked the scholarly, middle-aged Yan Beixue at once.

The other gods of the Spirit Vessel Yao Court attacked with all their might, attacking the gray-robed man and the young woman in red without a thought in their heads.

Kaboom!

The dome of heaven shook, the seawater churned, and the sky collapsed. The grand battle raged with such intensity that it threatened to overturn the ocean. It was terrifying beyond measure.

Su Yi could tell at a glance that Spirit Vessel Yao Court had come prepared. They’d only just begun their offensive, but they’d already seized an obvious advantage.

The strongest of them were the two Master Gods, the old man with the fly whisk and the curly-bearded man in bronze armor.

Both were Seven-Tribulation Master Gods.

As soon as they attacked, they thoroughly suppressed Yan Beixue!

Yan Beixue was a Seven-Tribulation Master God too, but it seemed his Dao Wounds really were severe. As he fought, he seemed incomparably fierce, but he wouldn’t last long.

Conversely, his daughter, the young woman in red, was the weakest one here. She was a Creation Realm Lesser God, and it clearly hadn’t been long since she’d achieved divinity.

At a critical juncture, it was the man in gray who shielded her.

However, doing so placed him in danger. He was just a Fortune Realm Greater God, and he was up against over thirty people, including more than a dozen other Greater Gods!

Fortunately, the man in gray had a powerful, almost taboo killer weapon: a long, silver spear that glinted like snow. Every time he swung it, it stirred up dancing arcs of electricity brimming with endless destructive power.

Time and time again, he staved off his enemies’ attacks.

Were it not for the spear, he’d undoubtedly have lost a long time ago. He couldn’t possibly have defended himself.

All this time has passed, but the Great Yin Lightning Transformation Spear still exists…. When Su Yi saw the spear, his expression shifted inscrutably, and he couldn’t help but sigh.

When he saw the spear, he couldn’t help but recall its former master, but…

Although the weapon remained, the owner had changed.
