Chapter 811: The Death of Fuqu

“You think I wouldn’t dare?” Xu Luo’s voice turned chilling. He was genuinely provoked by this woman; she was simply too ungrateful. It was one thing for her not to appreciate her parents’ grace, but to push all the blame onto him now? Did she think he was her father? That he would spoil her like that? Keep dreaming!

“You dare, of course you dare. Come on… come kill me!” Yue glared at Xu Luo with a mocking expression. “It only takes one of your fingers to kill a weak little woman like me. Come on!”

“Don’t!” Gu Zongren struggled as he came out of the room. The splitting headache hadn’t faded, but terrified that his daughter would actually be killed, he stumbled out. Looking at Xu Luo, he pleaded, “Don’t kill her… I beg you!”

“Gu…” Yue barely uttered a single syllable before she met Xu Luo’s exceptionally icy gaze. Her heart trembled, and she whispered, “You… you don’t need to care about me. Just let him kill me!”

Gu Zongren stumbled over to Yue’s side and pulled her into his embrace. At this moment, his youthful face was etched with the weariness of a long life. Tears streamed down his cheeks as he said, “Whether you want to be or not, you are my daughter. If you die, what meaning is there left for me in this world?”

“You still have your dream of conquering the world!” Yue bit her lip hard and stared at him with wide eyes, speaking softly.

“Sigh…” Gu Zongren let out a long breath. “There is always a higher mountain, and always someone stronger. In this tiny corner of the world, it’s hard enough just to spread one’s wings, let alone conquer the world. As long as you can live, as long as you can be happy, I have nothing else to ask for.”

These words were spoken with utmost sincerity. The powerful expert in the Celestial Venerable Realm finally showed his true feelings.

Yue could no longer hold back her tears. They slid down her cheeks as she cried, “But I don’t want to see you like this! My father is a towering hero!”

“He’s not,” Gu Zongren smiled bitterly. “He is a coward who fears death and shirks responsibility. He’s not a good man.”

“He is!” Yue argued angrily. “If I say he is, he is!”

Xu Luo exchanged a glance with Lan, and the two quietly departed. Whether good or evil, the bonds of flesh and blood could never truly be severed. If one could abandon even their own flesh and blood, they were no longer fit to be human.

Inside the Divine Maiden Tower, a pale-faced Fuqu knelt before Xue Chuqing, kowtowing frantically. “Miss, I was wrong… I was really wrong. Miss, please, for the sake of our years together, spare me this once!”

Fuqu couldn’t fathom how Xue Chuqing—whose meridians had been sealed and who had been imprisoned—managed to escape. Why wasn’t she afraid of anything? How did she dare to return to the Divine Maiden Tower? At first, Fuqu had tried to act tough, borrowing Gu Zongren’s prestige to threaten Xue Chuqing. She hadn’t expected Xue Chuqing to slap her across the face, knocking out seven or eight of her teeth, before coldly sitting there and smiling at her.

Fuqu wasn’t stupid. Having lived in a place like the Divine Maiden Tower for years and rising to become its master, her wits were as sharp as anyone’s. She immediately realized that, regardless of the reason, Xue Chuqing was free! And as the one who had betrayed her… what would be her fate? Fuqu didn’t dare to imagine it and had immediately dropped to her knees to beg for mercy.

“Heh, don’t you think the tables… have turned a bit too quickly?” Xue Chuqing sneered at Fuqu. Her heart had completely died the moment Fuqu sold her out. Their past sisterhood and all the trust she had given her were entirely washed away.

“Miss… I truly had my bitter difficulties. I had no choice!” Fuqu stared pitifully at Xue Chuqing, her face covered in tears. “With Sir’s level of cultivation, how could this lowly servant resist?”

“You still call him ‘Sir’? Heh, you haven’t given up hope, have you? Do you think I must have compromised with Gu Zongren to buy my freedom?” Xue Chuqing looked at Fuqu with a cold sneer. “Do you think that because Luo Tian died and I was left with no one to rely on, I simply chose to submit to Gu Zongren?”

Fuqu looked up at Xue Chuqing. That was exactly what she thought! Luo Tian’s death was an indisputable fact. She had killed him with her own hands!

Although the Purple Crystal Card and the divine materials were missing, Fuqu didn’t think it had anything to do with Xue Chuqing. Deep down, she even suspected that Gu Zongren had taken them himself! Then he would use both threats and favors to make Xue Chuqing completely loyal to him! Yet, the scene before her made her doubt herself. She wondered, “Is that not the case?”

“To tell you the truth, Luo Tian isn’t dead, and Gu Zongren is finished!” Xue Chuqing stared calmly at Fuqu, though her own heart was anything but calm. She never could have imagined that the stunningly beautiful girl named Lan was actually a giant with unfathomable strength!

She thought to herself, “If I hadn’t met my husband, how would I have resolved today’s disaster?” Thinking of Xu Luo, a wave of sweetness washed over her heart.

“Luo Tian isn’t dead? How is that possible? I… I killed him with my own hands!” Fuqu stared at Xue Chuqing in absolute shock. “Sir is a peak-level Celestial Venerable! How could he possibly lose?”

“There’s no point… in telling you this. End your own life,” Xue Chuqing said flatly. “We were master and servant, and we once loved each other like sisters. I don’t want to kill you myself, but don’t expect to keep living in this world.

“Because… to me, that would be an insult!”

“Miss… I was wrong. Forgive me this once! I swear, I swear on my soul… I will never dare betray you again!” Fuqu looked at Xue Chuqing in terror. She knew that in terms of sheer strength, she stood absolutely no chance against her!

Now, her only option was to play the emotional card. Having been together for so many years, Fuqu knew very well that Xue Chuqing was softhearted and sentimental by nature. As long as her heart softened, then… Fuqu would be safe.

Only this time, Fuqu seemed to have miscalculated. Xue Chuqing simply gazed at her indifferently. In her eyes, Fuqu saw nothing but coldness. The utter coldness of a dead heart.

“Don’t blame me for not warning you. If you end it yourself now, you can at least die with some dignity. When Luo Tian gets here, I’m afraid… even if you want to die… it will be difficult.” Xue Chuqing’s voice was frigid. “You didn’t show any mercy when you tried to kill him, so I’m sure he’ll be delighted to see you!”

THUD.

Fuqu slumped to her knees before Xue Chuqing, begging through her tears. “Miss, I’m still useful! I can do many things! I can help you manage the Divine Maiden Tower, I can help you scheme and plan…”

“Forget it. I wouldn’t dare use you,” Xue Chuqing sneered. “If something like this happened again, you would sell me out without hesitation. I don’t want a second taste of that.”

A flicker of regret flashed through Fuqu’s eyes. She deeply regretted not killing Xue Chuqing at the same time! Lifting her head, Fuqu smiled. Looking at the slightly surprised Xue Chuqing, she said, “It seems… I really must die today.

“It makes sense. I did so many things to anger you. I betrayed you, sold you out, and killed your man with my own hands. It would be strange if you didn’t hate me.

“What sisterhood? What deep affection? It’s all bullshit!

“Xue Chuqing, since we were children, I have been the maid at your side. I was your servant girl, your subordinate.

“Yes, you treated me well. I admit that. But if I’m speaking from the heart, when did you ever treat me as an equal sister?

“You sat high and mighty. You were heaven’s favored daughter, born to a noble family, while I… I was nothing! I was just a lowly maid who needed your charity, your pity, and your favors!

“I refused to accept it! Why?

“Why did your status have to be higher than mine?

“Why were you born to stand above everyone, while I was destined to be a slave and a maid?

“I hate you! I’ve hated you for years!

“Ever since I was little, I swore that if I ever got the chance, I would trample you beneath my feet! I wanted to make you taste what it’s like to look up at someone else!

“Heh, I almost succeeded, too. I was just a little bit short.

“Xue Chuqing, you got lucky this time. But I believe that one day, you will truly fall from your pedestal. When that time comes… you will taste what I am tasting today!”

Fuqu laughed maniacally, like a madwoman, venting all the resentment she had accumulated in her heart over the years in one breath. She felt so much better. Then, looking at the faint sorrow in Xue Chuqing’s eyes, Fuqu sneered, “Don’t put on that sad face. It disgusts me!

“Didn’t you want me to die? Simple! I’ll just die!

“Xue Chuqing, remember this: I hate you!”

As she spoke, Fuqu drew her short sword, but instead of turning it on herself, she thrust it straight at the slightly distracted Xue Chuqing!

A glint flashed in Xue Chuqing’s eyes. With a soft sigh, she sent a burst of hidden energy directly at Fuqu.

SHLUCK!

A soft sound echoed. Fuqu stared blankly at her own chest. The short sword in her hand hadn’t pierced Xue Chuqing; instead, it was buried deep in her own chest.

“Why?” Fuqu murmured.

“From the moment you started acting like a madwoman, I knew exactly what you were planning.” Xue Chuqing looked at Fuqu and said flatly, “Just as you know my softheartedness, I know exactly what kind of person you are.”

“But this time… your heart wasn’t soft…” Fuqu’s body slowly went limp as she collapsed to the floor. She looked at Xue Chuqing and murmured, “I regret it so much… I miss when we were children. Back then… it was so beautiful!”

With those last words, Fuqu’s eyes slowly closed, and a single tear slid down her cheek.

Xue Chuqing took a deep breath, forcefully choking back the tears that were threatening to spill. Looking at the dead Fuqu, she said indifferently, “The you of today… is no longer worth my tears. Why… should I cry?”

With that, she stood up and ordered in a low voice, “Guards!”

Several beautiful women with icy expressions appeared in the room. None of them spared a single glance at Fuqu’s body on the floor.

“Give her a proper burial!”

Having said that, Xue Chuqing turned and left the room. Ultimately unable to hold them back, two streams of clear tears rolled down her cheeks.

“Goodbye… my past!”
