Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All
Chapter 489-The Missus Must Not See Violence
Chapter 489: 489-The Missus Must Not See Violence
Ragnar:
He stood right in front of me, his arm stretched out, a gun aimed straight at my mother.
Tears streamed down my cheeks as my entire body trembled.
Then, right before my eyes, I watched him pull the trigger and shoot her.
The Fox King.
A name that was nothing more than a dangerous myth to most people, but to me, he was real.
A horrifying reality I had witnessed firsthand.
People often wondered where he came from and where he disappeared to, because no one ever seemed to know.
But I knew one thing for certain.
Wherever he came from, he took people’s happiness, their hopes, and everything they held dear, just as he had taken my family from me.
I shook myself back to the harsh reality.
I wanted to go to my brothers, to sit with them and talk about everything, but whenever I faced them, I found myself at a loss for words.
What could I possibly tell them?
Nothing.
I’d always dealt with my problems on my own, handled everything without asking anyone for help.
And perhaps that was why I was still alone.
I mean, I knew perfectly well that Verity didn’t have genuine feelings for any of us.
She was only trying to avenge her brother, and nothing more.
Yet somehow, I found myself heading back to her house.
As I approached the entrance, I noticed something strange.
There were unusual noises coming from inside, and when I reached for the door, I realized it wasn’t even locked.
In fact, she’d apparently left her key in the lock on the other side, because when I inserted mine, I heard hers being pushed out and falling onto the floor.
I stepped into the living room as quietly as possible, then began making my way toward the bedroom when I noticed someone else inside.
And there he was.
A man I had never seen before, threatening Verity.
Unlike the way she usually behaved around my brothers and me, she was standing completely still, obediently accepting whatever he was saying without a word of protest.
But that wasn’t all.
He was crossing every fucking line.
His hand was wrapped around her throat, choking her, and I felt my fingers slowly curling into fists.
I didn’t know what came over me, but all I could feel was anger.
The same uncontrollable fury I’d experienced when the Fox King attacked my family.
I listened to their conversation and gradually understood what was happening.
He wanted Verity to meet him at their usual secret spot, somewhere they apparently visited together, because he intended to take their relationship to the next level.
In simple words, he wanted to force himself on her because of some secrets he held of hers.
It was almost laughable that he thought getting what he wanted would be so easy.
His audacity left me both astonished and furious.
Still, I walked away.
I needed to find out who the bastard was and why Verity, of all people, was standing before him with her head bowed, allowing him to treat her that way.
Then a thought occurred to me.
If there was anyone who truly knew Verity, it had to be this man.
And if I wanted to expose her for who she really was, I might have found the perfect opportunity.
So I left the house and tried following him, only to discover that he kept switching buses.
Following him wasn’t going to be easy, especially when I knew how quickly someone would recognize me if I wasn’t careful.
I couldn’t risk attracting attention and getting caught.
In the end, I decided it would be better to stay back and follow Verity instead.
And that was exactly what I did.
And guess what?
Just as I’d expected, the bastard turned out to be completely useless.
He’d laid his hands on Verity and shot her with Wolfsbane.
And now here I was, standing right in front of him, watching the color slowly drain from his face.
"Your Highness?" he stammered, staring at me in disbelief. "What are you doing here?"
That asshole.
I’d always found it strange how people managed to ask the stupidest questions at the worst possible moments.
"You see that woman you just shot with Wolfsbane?" I asked, pointing toward Verity. "She’s not yours to touch."
I had no idea what was happening to me.
The anger inside me kept intensifying, coming in waves so powerful that I could barely contain myself.
The longer I stood there watching him, the more furious I became.
Even the thought of that bastard being anywhere near her was enough to send another surge of rage through me.
"I didn’t mean to. I... she..."
Of course.
Now that he was terrified, the bastard could barely string two words together.
I slowly stepped farther into the room, casually slipping my hands into my pants pockets.
"Come here," I ordered, curling my fingers toward him as though I were summoning a dog.
He immediately scrambled off the bed and approached me.
When we finally stood face-to-face, I had to lower my head considerably to meet his gaze, while he had to crane his neck just to look up at me.
"Why did you do that?" I questioned, genuinely baffled by his stupidity.
How could someone come snooping around her house several times, see an Alpha King living under the same roof, and still be foolish enough to pull something like this?
"How about we take this to the living room? We can have our little conversation there," I suggested, patting his head as though he were some obedient pet.
"It wouldn’t be appropriate to have you standing around my future Luna Queen while she’s lying on the bed, now would it? I’m very possessive when it comes to my Luna Queen."
Even as those words left my mouth, I could feel my blood boiling with an unfamiliar intensity.
I’d always considered myself a fairly calm and secure man.
I mean, I’d seen Gigi getting a little too friendly with people on countless occasions, especially my own brothers, and it had never bothered me in the slightest.
I’d never felt threatened by any of it.
Which was precisely why I couldn’t understand what the hell Verity had done to me.
How had she managed to get under my skin so deeply that I was suddenly feeling this insecure?
"L—lu—luna Queen?" the man stammered, practically tripping over the words.
"She didn’t tell you?" I asked, glancing toward Verity.
The sight of her lying helplessly on that bed only made my blood boil harder.
"You know what? Let’s talk."
With that, I grabbed a fistful of his hair and dragged him out of the bedroom toward the living room.
"You see, the missus isn’t accustomed to witnessing violence," I whispered, yanking him closer by his hair so that only he could hear me.
I had no intention of letting Verity hear what was about to happen.
Keeping my grip firmly on his hair, I reached back with my free hand and slowly closed the bedroom door, leaving her to rest peacefully while I dealt with this asshole.
