Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All
Chapter 470-Can’t Hide My Hatred Anymore
Chapter 470: 470-Can’t Hide My Hatred Anymore
Bruno:
A Few Hours Ago:
"That’s not even the strangest part. Theodore was absolutely furious when he heard about it," I added, still trying to make sense of his reaction.
The moment I mentioned Theodore, I noticed Jenna’s expression change. Her eyes grew noticeably colder, and the warmth that had been on her face seemed to disappear.
"What happened?" I asked, taken aback by her sudden change in demeanor.
"Nothing." She looked at me before questioning, "But why was Theodore so angry about it?"
That was when something clicked in my mind.
"I think something was going on between Theodore and Verity, and now he’s found out that Ragnar and Verity might have been involved, too," I explained, trying to put together the pieces of what I had overheard.
Jenna continued watching me as I spoke, and I couldn’t help expressing my confusion.
"I’m honestly a little surprised because Verity never struck me as that kind of person. But with everything I’ve been hearing and seeing lately, I can’t exactly vouch for her character either."
The truth was, I genuinely didn’t care whether Verity had slept with Ragnar.
If anything, that would only mean she was ruining Gigi’s relationship, and I certainly wasn’t going to lose sleep over that.
What bothered me was the possibility that she had gotten involved with two brothers at the same time, especially when Ragnar had now gone missing, apparently because of the whole situation.
That was the part I couldn’t quite stomach.
I had never liked people who created unnecessary drama and dragged everyone else into their mess.
"Well, what can we do about it now? I don’t know much about what’s going on, but I refuse to believe Verity is playing some kind of game," Jenna mumbled, still looking thoughtful. "It’s probably those brothers’ fault. I mean, they’re all very good-looking. Maybe she was just exploring her options."
I couldn’t understand why she was suddenly defending everyone involved, especially when we barely knew what had happened.
"And besides, Ragnar isn’t completely wrong either. I mean, anyone would eventually get bored of being with Gigi," she added, a noticeable bitterness creeping into her voice.
That last comment immediately caught my attention.
Throughout our growing friendship, I had learned a few things about Jenna, one of them being that she absolutely despised Gigi.
Apparently, she believed Gigi had known all along what her brother was doing to her.
We had discussed the matter in detail before, and knowing Gigi as well as I did, I was one hundred and one percent certain Jenna’s suspicions were justified.
"Then don’t you think we should play a little part in all this, too?" I suggested, watching her reaction.
Jenna turned toward me with a frown, her eyebrows drawing together.
"What kind of part?" she questioned.
"I mean, if Gigi is really as horrible as we know she is, don’t you think we should try to break her and Ragnar apart? Ragnar deserves someone better than her," I explained, deliberately keeping my tone gentle.
Instead of agreeing, Jenna frowned even more deeply, the wrinkles between her eyebrows becoming more pronounced as she studied my face.
"All I’m trying to say, Jenna, is don’t you think we should get some revenge on Gigi for what she did to you?" I asked, hoping she would understand what I was getting at.
The moment those words left my mouth, I noticed her pupils dilate as she stared at me, visibly shocked by what I had just suggested.
She was staring at me, her eyes wide with shock, and still hadn’t said a single word.
"Come on, tell me what you’re feeling," I urged, desperate to know what was going through her mind because the way she was looking at me was far from reassuring.
It seemed I’d made a grave mistake by opening my goddamn mouth.
"I’m just trying to understand something," Jenna began, looking deeply concerned.
"What?" I asked.
"Do you and Gigi know each other?"
For a moment, my breath caught in my throat. Then I immediately shook my head.
"No. What makes you say that?" I asked, forcing a foolish smile that could have landed me in even more trouble.
It wasn’t exactly the kind of question anyone should be smiling about.
"Nothing. I just thought I should ask," she replied calmly, though I caught a hint of sadness in her voice, almost as if she were disappointed.
"Look, Jenna, I don’t know Gigi personally. I’m only saying this because it makes me angry to hear how she taunted you when you were already going through so much," I began explaining, knowing I had no choice but to defend myself. "And with the way she behaves and treats others..."
My heart was pounding so fiercely that I could practically hear it in my ears as Jenna continued staring at me without blinking.
Thankfully, her phone vibrated, finally breaking that harsh, judgmental stare.
She answered the call and shifted on the bench, turning almost completely away from me as she gave me her back.
I seized the opportunity to release the breath I’d been holding, trying to calm my nerves.
"Okay, we’ll be there right away."
Jenna ended the call and turned back toward me. I studied her face attentively, trying to figure out what had happened.
"What’s going on?" I asked, already sensing that the news had something to do with home.
"Grandma Lucille found out about Ragnar. She’s giving everyone a hard time. We should go," she announced, rising to her feet as though she already expected me to follow.
And I couldn’t refuse. They really needed me.
"You should call Verity, though," I suggested, watching her slow down and turn another questioning stare on me.
"Let’s go," I quickly added, realizing I’d managed to put my foot in my mouth yet again.
We sat in silence during the drive, neither of us speaking for the first few minutes.
Even when I attempted to strike up a conversation, Jenna pretended to be occupied with her phone.
I couldn’t tell whether she’d picked up on something or if the idea of punishing Gigi had bothered her.
Either way, I had no idea what was going through her head.
By the time we arrived home, the situation had gotten completely out of hand.
Lady Lucille was having an absolute meltdown, screaming at everyone and throwing a terrible tantrum.
Yet despite all the chaos, there was only one person she wanted to see.
Verity.
That was when Jenna finally had to call Verity and ask her to come over.
