Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All
Chapter 408-She Is Not So Wanted
Gigi:
I had to go to the office and see the whole mess.
When I got home, I found out from the maids that Verity had left rather abruptly.
All I could think was that she had been kicked out.
Everyone was saying she had called a cab and left in a hurry after Ragnar dragged her from the office back home, furious.
Afterward, he sat down with his brothers, and apparently they all decided that she should leave.
At least, that was how I imagined the meeting had gone.
It made me wonder whether, after everything I had been through, they had started thinking I would be uncomfortable around Verity because she might remind me of my past.
Maybe the brothers had decided it would be better to let her go.
Or perhaps she had made some mistake, my situation had somehow become part of it, and that gave them an easy excuse to get rid of her.
Either way, it proved one thing.
Theodore and Jaguar were not as interested in her as I had thought, despite the way they had defended her before.
I told my mother, and she celebrated. She said it was long overdue.
Maybe after agreeing to get engaged to me, Ragnar had finally come around.
Maybe he was becoming my Ragnar again. My protective man.
But I needed to know what had happened at the office that was so bad Verity had been asked to leave.
So I went there wearing a pure white dress.
I wanted to look innocent, something that reflected my heart, my character, and the purity of my intentions.
As I entered, I acknowledged everyone with a polite nod.
That was simply who I was. I greeted everyone with respect.
Even as Luna Queen, I would never hesitate to smile at others.
People needed to know that I was kind and gentle.
"Come and have a seat. We didn’t know you were coming," Theodore greeted me excitedly.
He was standing in Jaguar’s office.
When I arrived, it looked like they had been in the middle of some disagreement.
Both of them appeared tense and angry, but the moment I stepped inside, their moods changed.
That was how they were.
Seeing me always seemed to make things better for them, and I admired that.
Still, I couldn’t help wondering what they had been arguing about.
"Yeah, I came here to ask about Verity. She was supposed to help me with the engagement, but now I’m hearing from the maids at home that she left. Does she not want to do it?" I asked, pouting as I looked between them in genuine confusion.
The moment I mentioned her name, both brothers exchanged a glance.
It was brief, but it was enough.
I was right.
Something had happened.
"I don’t think she’ll be planning any events," Jaguar replied, stumbling slightly over his words as he reached toward his desk. "You can hire another event planner. There are plenty of good ones. I’ll give you some names."
"Yeah, that’s fine. I can find someone else, but what happened?" I pressed, watching as Jaguar’s hand slowed while reaching for his tablet.
"Nothing, really. I think she was just tired. I don’t know," Jaguar answered awkwardly, avoiding my gaze.
He was lying.
That was when I noticed Jaguar raise his head, his eyes widening as though something behind me had caught his attention.
Theodore immediately followed his gaze.
I turned as well and saw someone hurrying past the office.
Verity.
"Oh, she’s at the office. Seems like she’s not tired after all," I commented.
"Yeah, but that’s..." Theodore hesitated. "Did you want to talk about something, Gigi?"
His entire posture changed.
I already knew he had been pretending everything was fine, but now he seemed almost nervous, especially with the way he asked me that question.
"I’m fine. Yeah, I’ll speak with Verity."
The more I mentioned her, the more anxious he became.
"Verity!" I called, stepping toward the doorway and peeking into the hall.
She stopped, turned around, and looked at me.
Oh, I had forgotten how much I hated the sight of her.
She had squeezed herself into a skirt that emphasized every proportion of her body.
I had never liked women who deliberately sexualized themselves, and Verity clearly knew how to do exactly that.
To be honest, it was obvious why not many men liked her.
Even her boyfriend had turned out to be someone hardly worth mentioning.
Other than him, when had any man ever truly fallen for Verity?
No one.
I straightened my shoulders at the thought.
It didn’t matter how well she maintained herself or how sexy she tried to look.
I was still the woman everyone desired.
Men wanted to sleep with me left and right.
"Can we talk?" I called to Verity, raising my voice enough for it to carry across the hall.
She drew in a deep breath and slowly released it before nodding.
When I turned back toward the office, I was surprised to find Theodore, who had looked so anxious moments earlier, suddenly fixing his hair.
Jaguar had settled into his chair, but his attention remained fixed on the doorway.
What had Verity done that was so terrible that both brothers seemed to hate her this much?
"Yes, what do you want to talk about?" Verity asked as she approached me, her voice unusually gentle.
But I noticed her eyes.
They were restless. That spark and confidence she usually carried were gone.
Then again, getting kicked out by the three Alpha King brothers would probably do that to anyone.
"What’s going on? We were supposed to plan the engagement, but you just up and left. Did something happen?" I asked dramatically, putting extra concern into my voice.
"No," she replied.
I glanced at the brothers.
They were both staring at her.
She must have fucked up somehow.
She had gotten far too comfortable, both at the office and at home.
There was only one thing I needed to do.
I had to leave them alone.
I knew they would stop pretending once I was gone, the way parents wait until a child leaves the room before discussing something important.
If I gave them privacy, I might finally find out what was going on.
Verity would never talk about it in front of me.
Still holding my phone, I pretended it had beeped.
"Ah, I put it on silent. Mom’s calling me," I groaned dramatically. "Guys, wait, okay? I’ll be back."
Then I looked at Verity.
"And you stay here. I have a bone to pick with you," I added playfully before stepping out of the room.
I pressed the phone to my ear and wandered farther down the hallway, pretending to take the call.
