Farming Family's Pocket Dimension: A Charmed Little Lady Comes to Farm
Chapter 251: Buying a Servant Girl as a Concubine
Gu Fei smiled brightly. "Young Master Heir is right. Next time you come for a meal, I’ll be sure to make it a bit lighter."
Xiao Yu shot her a sidelong glance. "Next time I come, you’ll still cook for me yourself?"
Gu Fei nodded. "Of course. Young Master Heir helped me out so much, it would only be right for you to eat here every day."
’With a powerful patron like you around, I won’t have to worry about people showing up and causing trouble anymore.’
After finishing his meal, a satisfied Xiao Yu left with Stone and Zhuzi.
Gu Fei quickly slipped back to her room and took out the silver notes from her space to count them.
One note for one thousand taels, two for five hundred taels, and three for two hundred taels, adding up to a grand total of two thousand six hundred taels of silver. But she refused to believe this was the entire fortune of the Prince Mansion’s Chief Steward.
Holding the silver notes in her hands, Gu Fei chuckled to herself alone in the room.
’I’m rich! I’m finally rich!’
As someone who had been poor for two lifetimes, she was suddenly experiencing what it felt like to be fabulously wealthy.
Once her excitement subsided, Gu Fei thought for a moment. She needed to go buy some jade—the uncarved kind. She was really curious to see what would happen to her space once it had absorbed enough Spiritual Energy.
’But that thought brought a new worry. The space consumes jade. At this rate, no matter how much silver I earn, it won’t be enough!’
Coming out of her room, Gu Fei sent Little Lu out to buy some new bowls and plates, as quite a few had been broken today.
In the evening, Gu Fei was keeping watch at the counter, starting to doze off, when she suddenly saw the Ya Zi she had met before leading a girl of about seventeen or eighteen inside.
Gu Fei stood up. "Uncle Zhang, you’ve come today to—"
The Ya Zi smiled. "I’m looking for Old Huang. He’s inside, right? Could I trouble Manager Gu to have someone call him out for me?"
As he spoke, the Ya Zi sat down with the girl.
Gu Fei curiously sized up the girl, then nodded and called out, "Lian’er, go get Mr. Huang. Someone’s here for him—"
The girl had a large, moon-like face and kept her head bowed, anxiously wringing her fingers.
Lian’er ran to the back courtyard, and a moment later, Old Huang came out.
As soon as he came out, he walked over to the Ya Zi and sat down. The Ya Zi said, "Old Huang, what do you think of this girl?"
Old Huang’s gaze fell upon the girl. After a long moment, he nodded. "She’ll do. How much silver?"
The Ya Zi made a hand gesture. "Ten taels."
"Here, this is the indenture contract."
Old Huang looked at the contract and thought for a moment. "Alright, ten taels it is."
"Take the contract to the government office tomorrow to get it stamped, then bring it back to me."
As he spoke, Old Huang took out a ten-tael silver ingot and also gave the broker a small piece of broken silver.
The broker took the silver, tucked it into his robes with a grin, and said, "Then I wish you a healthy baby boy in the near future!"
Gu Fei, who had been listening from the counter, pricked up her ears. ’A healthy baby boy?’
’Oh, heavens, it can’t be what I think it is!’
The Ya Zi stood up and instructed the girl, "Serve Old Master Huang well. The Huang family is prominent and wealthy. As long as you can bear Old Master Huang a healthy baby boy, you’ll have a good life ahead of you."
The girl, blushing beet-red with embarrassment, gave a quiet "mm" in response.
Gu Fei simply couldn’t contain her curiosity any longer. She came out from behind the counter and looked at Old Huang with a beaming smile. "Mr. Huang, is this—"
Old Huang chuckled. "Ever since you opened this inn, this old man feels like he has a new lease on life."
"So, here we are. I’m buying a girl to be my concubine. It would be good if she could give me a son or a daughter, so the family line doesn’t end with me."
"Otherwise, when I see my parents in the afterlife, they’ll point their fingers at my nose and curse me out."
Hearing this, the girl was so mortified she looked like she wanted to bury her head in her chest.
