Chapter 250: Waiting to Eat With You

Gu Fei’s lips twitched. "I can’t possibly use this much—"

Xiao Yu snorted from the side. "How could you not need it? Your hand is still injured. You’ll need some ginseng and deer antler to recover."

Stone quickly stepped forward, took all the silver notes, and handed them to Lian’er. "Keep these safe for your lady."

Only then did Xiao Yu speak. "What are you still kneeling around like idiots for? Get this shop cleaned up, now. And once you’re done, get the hell out!"

Housekeeper Wu, the servants, and the Government Officials scrambled to their feet. Some began moving tables and chairs while others grabbed brooms.

Stone then turned to Gu Fei. "Miss Gu, my Young Master Heir hasn’t had lunch yet."

Gu Fei felt quite apologetic. It was already afternoon. "What does your master like to eat? I’ll go make it right away."

Stone shot a glance at Xiao Yu. "You’ll be cooking personally, Miss Gu?"

Gu Fei nodded. "Of course. The Young Master Heir helped me out so much; a single meal is nothing."

Stone saw Xiao Yu lean back slightly, clearly listening in on their conversation.

Stone smiled. "Anything is fine. Just make whatever you’re best at, Miss Gu. Our Young Master Heir isn’t picky; he’ll eat anything."

Gu Fei nodded and walked briskly toward the back kitchen.

Sister Hua and Lian’er followed Gu Fei toward the back.

Lian’er hurriedly stuffed the silver notes into Gu Fei’s hand. She was terrified holding so much Silver.

Sister Hua was all smiles. "You scared me to death at first! I never would have guessed that Shopkeeper recognized the Young Master Heir. But everything’s fine now. From now on, no one in Ping’an City will dare to cause you trouble again, Miss."

Gu Fei hadn’t expected Xiao Yu to show up so coincidentally today either, let alone help her to such an extent.

’He can’t still be after that Blood Drop, can he?’

Gu Fei replied distractedly, entered the kitchen, and quickly began to cook. Sister Hua also fired up a stove and started cooking.

The ingredients in the kitchen were already prepped—all washed and chopped.

Gu Fei quickly stir-fried several dishes and had Lian’er serve them. When the last dish was ready, she brought it out herself.

The main hall was mostly cleaned up. The crowd of onlookers who had gathered inside and outside the door had disappeared; she figured they had probably been cleared out by Xiao Yu’s servants.

Most of the inn’s attendants were upstairs tidying guests’ rooms. When Gu Fei came out carrying the dish, she saw Xiao Yu sitting there, not having touched a single bite.

Gu Fei placed the dish on the table. "Why aren’t you eating, Young Master Heir? Is the food not to your liking?"

Xiao Yu coughed lightly, looking a bit awkward, the tips of his ears turning red. "You haven’t eaten either, have you? I figured it would be a hassle for you to cook again later, so I thought we could just eat together."

Gu Fei glanced to the side. Stone and Zhuzi were at another table, eating with gusto. They were enjoying the dishes Sister Hua had just carefully prepared.

For someone of Xiao Yu’s status, servants were not permitted to eat at the same table.

After a moment’s hesitation, Gu Fei sat down. "I truly can’t thank you enough for today, Young Master Heir. Otherwise, not only would I have lost my shop, but I would have been thrown in jail as well."

Xiao Yu waved his hand dismissively. "It was nothing."

"If anyone in Ping’an City is foolish enough to bully you in the future, just mention my name. I’ll make them regret it."

Gu Fei’s eyes lit up. ’Does this mean I’m officially under the Young Master Heir’s protection now?’

She fawningly placed a choice piece of food in Xiao Yu’s bowl with her chopsticks. "The first time I met you, Young Master Heir, I could already tell you were brilliant, mighty, and had the heart of a hero. I see I was right. Having you in Ping’an City is a blessing for common people like us."

Xiao Yu hummed in satisfaction and took a few bites. "The flavor isn’t bad, but it’s a little heavy on the salt and oil. Something to work on for next time."
