Farming Family's Pocket Dimension: A Charmed Little Lady Comes to Farm
Chapter 238: Psycho
Gu Fei composed herself and slipped in through the window.
She squinted to take in her surroundings. The room was small, containing only a table, a bed, and two chairs.
Two people were lying on the bed. Gu Fei crept closer to see. Though the light was dim, she could still distinguish the man on the outer edge—it was Er Laizi, his head still wrapped in strips of cloth.
With a flick of her wrist, a dagger materialized in her hand. She clamped one hand over Er Laizi’s mouth while pricking his arm with the dagger, neither too lightly nor too deeply.
Er Laizi jolted awake. He opened his eyes to a figure looming over him and instinctively tried to shout, but Gu Fei’s hand over his mouth trapped the sound in his throat.
Gu Fei’s voice was a low whisper. "Don’t scream. If you do, this dagger in my hand might slip."
"I’m only here to ask you a few questions. Answer me properly, and I won’t kill you."
Xiao Yu lay prone on the roof, listening intently to the sounds below.
The night was perfectly still, and he could hear Gu Fei’s words with perfect clarity.
When he heard her voice, Er Laizi could finally see clearly that it was Gu Fei.
A wave of panic washed over him. ’I’ve really crossed a tough one this time,’ he thought. ’How in the world did she track me here?’
His eyes went wide, and he blinked rapidly, signaling his agreement.
Gu Fei said softly, "Remember, no screaming. I’m letting go of your mouth now."
The moment her hand left his mouth, Er Laizi’s gaze locked onto the dagger in Gu Fei’s hand. It glinted coldly as it swayed back and forth right in front of his face, and he didn’t dare move a muscle.
Gu Fei said in a slow, deliberate tone, "I just want to ask you... who exactly sent you to cause trouble at my shop?"
Xiao Yu, on the roof, was taken aback. ’Caused trouble?’
’Someone went to her shop to cause trouble?’
’And she came all this way, in the middle of the night, just for this?’
Er Laizi’s voice was laced with terror. "I... I can’t tell you. If I do, that person will never let me go."
Gu Fei gently prodded Er Laizi’s face with the tip of her dagger. "If you don’t talk, you die now. If you do, you might not. The choice should be obvious to anyone."
As the point of the blade pricked his skin, a chill seemed to travel from the dagger straight to his heart. "I’ll talk! I’ll talk! It’s the Chief Steward of the Prince Qi Mansion."
Gu Fei’s brow furrowed. "His surname? His full name?"
"I’m sure the Prince Qi Mansion has more than one steward. How am I supposed to know which one you’re talking about?"
Er Laizi rushed to say, "There’s only one Chief Steward! His surname is Wu, and he’s called Wu Dahai."
Xiao Yu was utterly confused. ’Why would Housekeeper Wu send people to bother Little Fei?’
"And what about the message I told you to deliver yesterday? Did you relay it?"
Er Laizi stammered, "N-no. I figured I’d take your silver first, then go to him for my reward."
Gu Fei tapped his cheek with the flat of the dagger. "See? This is what happens when you don’t listen. If you had just relayed the message, maybe you wouldn’t be in this situation."
"Then do you know why Housekeeper Wu is doing this?"
Er Laizi nodded vigorously, the flesh on his chin bunching up. "I know. He holds a grudge against my big brother. He doesn’t want him to live a good life."
Gu Fei said coldly, "If there’s a grudge, why not just kill him and get it over with? From what I can see, that Old Huang is living well enough. So why not go after him instead of tormenting his tenants? What’s the logic in that?"
"Is he insane?"
Er Laizi shook his head again and again. "No, no, that’s not it. Housekeeper Wu swore an oath that he would never personally harm my big brother. But he doesn’t want my big brother to live a good life, so he can only go after the tenants."
Gu Fei scoffed. "Freaking lunatic."
"So, where does this Housekeeper Wu live?"
