Falling For My Alpha Stepsister (GL)
Chapter 138: Tessa Confront Benny
April and the others were all standing together at the narrow gangway, waiting patiently for Angel to finally arrive. April refused to leave the ship without her mate, and there was currently only one getaway boat available at this late time of night.
CJ and Mary were already sitting safely inside the small boat, holding the cats securely in their carriers.
Benny, who was still fully disguised as her twin sister, stood right beside April while April remained completely restless, pacing back and forth along the deck.
"Should I just go back inside and look for her since you happen to have her cellphone in your pocket?" Benny asked, glancing over her shoulder toward the corridor.
"No, don’t worry about it," April said, shaking her head as she looked down at the dark water below. "She’ll be here very soon. I just genuinely don’t know what on earth she has to do right now that is so important."
Just as the two of them were talking, Tessa Johnson walked out onto the deck while actively finishing a phone call. She caught sight of them near the edge and immediately walked straight over.
"Anita?" Tessa called out, frowning slightly in confusion.
Benny quickly tried her absolute best to stay in character as she turned around to face the confused-looking Alpha.
"Hi, Tessa..." Benny waved her hand, deepening her voice quite a bit as she tried her best to mimic her twin sister’s tone.
"What exactly are you doing here right now?" Tessa asked, stopping in front of them.
"I was em invited, so I decided to come to the anniversary celebration," Benny lied smoothly on the spot. "But right now I have something far more important to attend to back on land."
"Alright then. I just thought you mentioned earlier this week that you were far too busy with work to attend the anniversary," Tessa said, her sharp eyes suddenly noticing that April had been staring at her with total disgust.
However, confronting her prospective business partner was far more important to Tessa than dealing with April.
"Anita, I thought you were currently stuck overseas, but seeing you here in person is great," Tessa said, keeping a completely straight face. "So tell me, how is your wife doing these days?"
Benny forced a faint smile onto her face, her mind frantically trying to think of the right answer.
"Come on now... Did I not tell you about my many wives?" Benny chuckled softly, relying on what she knew about her sister’s harem love life. "Three of them are doing really good. Right now, two of them are actually expecting my little ones..."
Benny was well aware of the exact number of wives her twin sister currently kept around.
"That is really great," Tessa said, her expression shifting into a cold smirk. "I would have actually believed you were the real Anita if I hadn’t just finished having a video call with her a single moment ago. I know it’s really you, Benita."
Benny immediately stopped acting, letting out a heavy sigh as she returned to being herself.
"Don’t worry about it, I won’t cause any problems for you or Anita," Benny said, holding her hands up defensively. "I’m already leaving right now anyway, so just pretend like you didn’t see me here at all."
"Alright, then I will," Tessa replied plainly, giving her a sharp nod. "Good night."
While Benny turned around and went down to join Mary and CJ on the waiting boat, Tessa stepped forward and faced April directly.
"Are you really going to keep giving me that exact same pathetic face every single time you see me?" Tessa asked, folding her arms over her red suit.
"Why did you always pick on me back then?" April blurted out, her jaw tightening as she stared back at the Alpha. "There were so many other students in our high school, but it was always me you picked on. We weren’t even in the same class."
"Do you really want to know why I picked on you back then?" Tessa asked, stepping a bit closer with a cruel look in her eyes. "That was simply because you were so incredibly easy to pick on. My words easily broke your spirit every single time, and watching that gave me a thrilling joy. I also genuinely hated your existence. My parents were constantly comparing you with me back then. You were just a weak Omega, and I was an Alpha, but yet it was always, ’April this, April that. That bright Omega is going to be far more successful than you ever will.’ But look at you today. You are still a complete nobody, and I own a massive pharmaceutical company."
Tessa was deliberately using every single word to bring April’s morale all the way down to the ground.
"Oh, come off it," a loud, sharp voice interjected from the shadows behind them. "You’re just a dirty syndicate using Goodland as a fake uniform to cover up your illegal business."
Angel said this clearly as she walked right up to April’s side, reaching down to grab her hand and lace their fingers tightly together.
"You know absolutely nothing about Goodland," Tessa hissed, her eyes narrowing as she glared at the Young Master.
"You’re completely right," Angel said back, holding April close to her side as she looked Tessa up and down with total contempt. "I don’t know anything about that stupid company of yours, but I know the real owner very well, and your co-owner is absolutely no good. You two are basically trying to nuke the entire world with your bad drugs, but it’s really not my concern to intervene in your mess anymore.."
Angel turned her head and looked down gently at April.
"Come on, April. Let’s go, Talking to these fake people is no use at all."
Tessa Johnson stood entirely alone on the deck, watching the getaway boat pull away into the dark water and leave the massive cruise ship behind.
She had absolutely no idea that Percy was sitting inside one of the pet carriers on that boat. She genuinely thought Charlie was still holding onto the cat back in their cabin.
