Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch
Chapter 368: Escape from crazy woman
Noah leaned forward on his massive ice sword and shot downward toward the city, hoping to find a powerful elf who could help him deal with the woman chasing him.
The wind roared past his ears as he descended, his snow-white hair whipping wildly behind him. The buildings below rapidly grew larger, yet he maintained remarkable control over his flight, adjusting his direction with subtle movements.
Surprisingly, he was moving much faster than he usually did.
Even his control over the ice sword felt smoother, as though his body had gradually adapted to flying at such incredible speeds.
’That’s odd... But I’ll take it!’
Noah had no intention of wasting this opportunity. He leaned forward a little more, pouring additional mana into the ice sword.
Its surface glimmered with a faint glacier-blue light as his speed increased.
However, the woman hovering above him quickly understood what he was trying to do.
She tilted her head, watching him descend toward the city.
Then, with a playful smile, she moved.
Whoosh!
Her body shot downward like a bullet, tearing through the air as she pursued him directly. The blood spears surrounding her followed in formation, their crimson surfaces gleaming ominously beneath the light of the burning World Tree.
Noah glanced over his shoulder.
His expression immediately darkened.
’Damn it! Why won’t she leave me alone?! What’s so interesting about me? Just stay up there and enjoy the view of the burning tree, which was your plan!’
Unfortunately, Noah had never been particularly good at understanding what went on inside the minds of powerful people.
And judging by the woman’s behavior, he suspected that understanding her would require a degree of madness he wasn’t prepared to develop.
The city was getting closer.
He could already make out the rooftops and streets below, where the remaining elves hurried through the evacuation routes.
If he could reach them, perhaps someone powerful enough would notice the commotion and come to his aid.
But the woman was simply too fast.
Despite the distance between them, she was steadily closing in.
"You can’t run away, pretty boy!" she called cheerfully. "Once I set my eyes on someone, they can’t escape me. Hehehe~!"
Her voice carried clearly through the air, reaching Noah despite the tremendous wind pressure rushing past him. For a moment, he couldn’t believe what he’d just heard.
’She’s crazy! This woman is absolutely crazy!’
Noah screamed inwardly.
He had encountered plenty of troublesome people since arriving in this world, but this woman was rapidly climbing to the top of his personal list. ’Is this how women feels when a creepy man fallow them?’
The next moment, his instincts screamed. The woman was already upon him.
Only thirty meters separated them.
Noah immediately turned in midair, shifting his position until he was facing upward. His ice sword tilted beneath his feet as he looked toward his pursuer.
The blood elf was descending toward him with a delighted smile plastered across her beautiful face. Her long hair, streaked with dark navy blue and crimson, fluttered behind her, while her crimson eyes gleamed with unsettling excitement.
Dozens of blood spears hovered around her, their sharp tips pointed directly at Noah.
Despite her beauty, there was something deeply unsettling about her expression.
’Why does she look so happy about chasing me? Who’s not a danger for her.’
Noah swallowed.
He really, really didn’t want to find out.
Just as the woman prepared to launch her spears, something suddenly shot upward from the city below.
A thin black streak tore through the air.
It looked like an arrow made of pure darkness, racing toward the blood elf with astonishing speed.
The woman’s smile vanished.
Her crimson eyes narrowed as she immediately redirected the blood spears surrounding her.
Rather than launching them individually, she gathered them together, forcing the crimson weapons to merge into a single, enormous spear.
The resulting weapon stretched more than fifteen meters in length. Dense blood-red energy churned across its surface, while an oppressive aura radiated from its sharpened tip.
She thrust her hand forward.
The gigantic blood spear shot downward, colliding head-on with the incoming black projectile.
BOOM!
A deafening explosion reverberated through the sky.
Crack!
To the woman’s surprise, the massive blood spear shattered upon impact.
The smaller black projectile had broken through her attack and continued toward her, its dark surface barely showing any signs of damage.
Her eyes widened.
’What?!’
She immediately propelled herself upward.
The black spear grazed past her body and continued into the sky, disappearing into the distance. Only then did she realize how dangerous that seemingly insignificant attack had been.
If she had reacted even a fraction of a second later, it might have pierced her.
Meanwhile, Noah had no intention of wasting the opportunity someone had just given him.
He thrust his right hand forward.
Mana surged toward his palm, and a glacier-blue magic circle rapidly materialized before it. Intricate patterns shimmered across its surface as the temperature around him dropped.
[Snow Mist]
He poured an extra surge of mana into the spell.
The magic circle flashed.
A tremendous wave of cold, bluish-white mist burst from his palm, spreading rapidly through the sky. Within moments, the surrounding area was engulfed in a dense, snowy haze.
The mist spread far enough to conceal both Noah and the blood elf, obscuring their figures from one another.
Noah didn’t hesitate.
The moment the mist covered his surroundings, he turned his ice sword and accelerated away, slipping through the thick haze toward the city.
’Thank you, whoever you are! I’ll repay you someday!’
Of course, that promise depended on whether he survived the next few minutes.
Behind him, the blood elf stopped in midair.
Her expression had darkened.
She could no longer see the boy, and the dense mist interfered with her vision. Although she could still sense the surrounding mana, the sudden disturbance made it difficult to determine his exact location.
"Tch. How annoying."
She lifted one hand.
Mana flowed from her body, gathering around her palm before spreading outward in a rapidly expanding wave.
BOOM!
A tremendous shock wave erupted from her position, sweeping through the sky and scattering the entire cloud of mist.
The bluish-white haze dispersed in every direction, revealing the clear sky once more.
But Noah was already gone.
The blood elf looked toward the city. There, near the rooftops, a tiny figure riding an ice sword was rapidly disappearing among the buildings.
She clicked her tongue.
"He actually escaped..."
Her gaze shifted toward the streets below, where elves were still fleeing the city. She searched the surrounding rooftops and open roads, trying to identify the source of the black spear that had interrupted her pursuit.
However, she couldn’t find anyone.
The attack had come from somewhere within the city, but the streets were crowded with fleeing elves, and the chaos made it difficult to distinguish potential enemies from ordinary civilians.
Her crimson eyes narrowed. ’Whoever launched that attack must be hiding nearby.’
After another moment of searching, she gave up and turned her attention back to Noah.
A strange smile gradually returned to her lips. "He ran away, sigh..."
She sounded genuinely disappointed.
