Chapter 667: Witch Of Gluttony
Chapter 667: Witch Of Gluttony
Neo nodded, smiling faintly.
It was nice to know he hadn’t been completely forgotten.
“So who is she marrying?”
“Jack. That reminds me, Jack is also together with—”
Bael stopped when he noticed Neo’s smile vanish.
“Jack?”
“Haha, you’re actually angry. Layla said the same thing. She told me Jack had said you would kill him when you found out.”
Neo wasn’t laughing. His expression didn’t change.
’Jack? That ancestor fucker is marrying my sister?’
’What the hell is the Nullhour Firmament doing? I told it to protect her. Why hasn’t it killed that bastard yet?’
Even if he wasn’t truly mad at Jack, Neo couldn’t help the irritation rising in him.
Jack must have done protected Earth, maybe even protected his sister, while Neo was away.
But that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to get beaten to half-death when Neo returned to Earth eventually.
Neo sighed and rubbed his brows.
“You should go back. I’ll return after I finish things here,” he told Bael.
Bael nodded and stepped into a portal, disappearing from the Voraka Planet.
He didn’t seem worried about Neo anymore.
’He either had a time limit to leave the castle in Underworld.’
’Or he thinks I’ll reincarnate either way due to the curse, and it doesn’t matter if I die.’
’Or maybe he just trusts me.’
Neo wasn’t sure which it was.
He turned to Kevin after Bael left.
“I have something to talk about with you, so wait here. I’ll be back in a bit.”
Kevin didn’t say anything back.
Neo looked up at the Alliance spaceship floating above the planet.
He could see the people inside scrambling around in panic.
Most of them were trying to contact their higher-ups.
The fact that the Voraka Site had become an actual planet seemed to shock them.
On top of that, Neo’s Stage 5 strength hadn’t gone unnoticed.
He focused his attention on one particular person staring at him through the glass—Dren. The same man who had forced him into the Voraka Site.
He was Neo’s first target within the Alliance.
Their eyes met.
Neo mouthed the words clearly.
’I revived this planet.’
Dren didn’t look away.
’Do you want the information on how to do that?’
A frown formed on Dren’s face.
Neo could practically see the gears turning in his head.
’Come down here, and I’ll let you know the information.’
He watched as Dren remained still, clearly hesitating.
People around him were yelling, trying to make sense of what had happened, but Dren’s eyes stayed locked on Neo.
Even as Neo watched him, he kept one eye on Kevin.
Kevin claimed he wouldn’t interfere, but Neo couldn’t be sure of it.
There was always a chance he would attack while Neo’s guard was down.
“You should come with me,” Kevin finally said. “You’ve grown too quickly. The Alliance can figure out you’ve created a Path. And more than that, you revived a dead planet. That’s something no one’s done before.”
Neo didn’t interrupt him.
“They already wanted to use you as a weapon. Now they’ll try to turn you into something worse. They will keep you locked up, use you to breed more power, and try everything to learn how you brought this place back.”
“I see,” Neo said, nodding slightly.
Kevin narrowed his eyes.
“You don’t look worried.”
“Because I’m not,” Neo replied with a shrug.
If things went south, he could use his Grim Reaper badge and return to the Underworld.
The Alliance clearly hadn’t located Earth yet, so he could get back safely if needed.
The situation wasn’t ideal, but it wasn’t beyond saving either.
“I had a Quest,” Kevin finally said, seeing Neo wasn’t going to budge. “It gave me two choices: help you or kill you. I chose to help. And if I’m going to follow through with that, I need to make sure you are in a safe location and only then will the Quest complete.”
“I don’t need your help.”
Kevin didn’t respond right away.
He just stared at Neo.
When he finally spoke again, his tone was quieter.
“Do you want to know why I chose to help you?”
Neo didn’t answer.
Kevin took that as a yes.
“I didn’t help you before because of your Witch. But now, I think I need to help you because of exactly that.”
Neo stayed quiet, still watching the spaceship.
His attention hadn’t left Dren or the others even for a second. He wanted to be prepared if they were calling a Stage 6 being, or other reinforcements.
“If you come with me, I’ll help you recover the memories of your life with her.”
Neo stiffened when he heard those words.
The life he couldn’t remember.
The memories that refused to return, no matter how much he pushed.
“Aren’t you even a little curious?” Kevin asked. “Why the Witch of Gluttony chose you to be her loved one?”
Neo didn’t say anything, but his shoulders tightened slightly.
Of course he was curious.
It gnawed at him.
“If I wanted to hurt you,” Kevin said slowly, “I could’ve already done that. You’re strong, but you should know you aren’t my match. I’m trying to help, whether you believe me or not.”
Neo finally looked at him.
“What did you mean earlier…. that you chose to help me because of my Witch?”
“You’ll understand when you meet my Witch. That answer isn’t something I can give you on my own. She wouldn’t like it. But…”
He stopped, frowning slightly, like he was debating whether or not to speak further.
After a beat, he added,
“Just know that every Witch hates the Witch of Gluttony. And at the same time, they all fear her. That’s the real reason I didn’t help you when you were in the Alliance’s hands. I had no reason to help someone my Witch hated.”
“And now you suddenly want to help me?” Neo’s voice was flat.
“Like I said,” Kevin replied, “you’ll understand when you get your memories back.”
