Chapter 666: A Weird Guy
Chapter 666: A Weird Guy
“Perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised you know,” the Eternal said.
His voice was calm but faintly distorted.
He looked around, eyes scanning the Voraka Planet.
His gaze lingered on Bael and Neo for a few seconds, then moved on.
“I detected traces of Ashes here. That’s why I’m here,” he explained.
Neo stayed silent, but his aura rippled.
The moment he saw the Eternal, a quiet anger began building inside him.
His fists clenched at his sides.
This was the being responsible for why he had lost memories of people he once held dear.
He wanted to lash out, but Kevin turned to him and shook his head once.
It was a small gesture, but the message was clear: don’t act on impulse.
Neo took a breath and forced himself to calm down.
’Not yet.’
Now wasn’t the time.
If he lost control here, he might throw away the chance to find answers and get revenge.
“So, where are the Ashes?” the Eternal asked again.
“I was testing a new spell. It mimics the presence of Ashes in some ways, but there are no real Ashes here,” Kevin explained.
The Eternal didn’t look convinced.
Kevin opened his palm.
A soft grey light shimmered into existence, forming a ball that pulsed with faint energy.
Neo stared at it.
He couldn’t feel anything himself—his did not had ability to detect Ashes—but judging by the Eternal’s sudden interest, it had worked.
“What sort of spell is that?” the Eternal asked, a slight frown forming on his face.
“You don’t need to know.”
Kevin closed his palm, and the light vanished as if it had never been there.
The Eternal didn’t take kindly to the dismissal.
His frown deepened, and for a moment, he looked like he was going to press the issue.
But Kevin cut him off.
“Don’t overstep your boundaries. That wasn’t an Ash. If you try to use your authority to force anything here, there will be consequences.”
His tone wasn’t loud, but the weight in his voice was unmistakable. It was a warning, not a bluff.
The Eternal didn’t reply, but his expression soured.
The tension in the air thickened until Bael finally spoke.
“So what’s actually going on here?”
The Eternal turned to him, and suddenly a faint gleam of surprise appeared within his gaze.
“A Realm Divinity God within the Golden Domain…?”
“He’s the Grim Reaper of Prime Death,” Kevin explained.
The Eternal paused, then nodded.
“That explains the uncanniness.”
Then his eyes shifted toward Neo.
“And him?”
“An acquaintance,” Kevin said, his voice clipped.
The Eternal seemed to try reading into Neo, but whatever method he used, it failed.
“Your Ward technology is improving. I can’t read his Fate at all,” the Eternal noted.
Kevin didn’t answer.
There was a silence.
Then the Eternal turned to Bael again.
“I apologize for ignoring your question earlier. That wasn’t my intention.”
Bael nodded.
The Eternal went on. “We’re here because we detected the presence of Ashes. Those things speed up the collapse of universes. Their existence goes against the rules set by the Celestial Worthy. We came to eliminate them.”
“We?” Bael asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Yes. Our leader came with me. But…”
The Eternal looked around slowly.
“It seems he diverted somewhere else along the way.”
He didn’t seem surprised by the fact, but Neo noticed something else.
The Eternal was talking politely, but he was clearly holding back.
He hadn’t asked more questions, hadn’t demanded more answers, and hadn’t challenged Kevin’s authority.
But Neo could feel the underlying edge to the Eternal’s tone.
’He’s not worried about Kevin,’ Neo thought. ’Then what is he worried about?’
He didn’t know the full answer, but a possibility formed in his mind.
’Is it the Witch that Kevin is with?’
Neo didn’t have complete information on the Witch’s strength, but from what little he knew, it wasn’t crazy to assume their abilities could rival, or even surpass, that of the Eternals.
Eventually, the Eternal looked at the space around him again.
“I would’ve liked to see the past of this place, but it looks like you’ve hidden it. So, I’ll be taking my leave.”
He glanced at Kevin, his gaze colder now.
“But keep in mind, if I find out later you’ve hidden Ashes from me, this won’t end peacefully next time.”
Kevin didn’t reply.
The Eternal vanished, disappearing as abruptly as he had appeared.
A long silence followed. Bael was the first to speak.
“Alright, that was one weird guy.”
He turned to Kevin.
“So, about my question. Can you get me the person who tortured Neo?”
“She is dead.”
“Then give me—”
“She was the granddaughter of a Witch.”
Bael closed his mouth.
Kevin continued speaking.
“Neo has already returned enough damage to the Alliance. If you want to attack them more, be my guest. I don’t care much about that. But…”
Kevin stopped for a second, as if contemplating something, then he added,
“I will say this for your safety. The Alliance isn’t easy to defeat. Even a Realm Divinity God like you would struggle against them.”
Bael looked like he still wanted to fight, but Neo spoke up first.
“It’s alright, Bael. I’ll deal with my problems myself.”
Bael stared at Neo for a few seconds before sighing and rubbing the back of his head.
“Alright then. I’ll go back.
“But summon me if something happens.
“You should be able to do that with your Grim Reaper badge.
“Also, come home when you get time.
“The little one has been annoying me quite a bit lately, asking to meet you and Henry. She wants both your blessings for her wedding.”
“…What?” Neo blinked. “Are you talking about…”
“Your sister, yes.”
“She wants my blessing?”
Neo felt something strange stir in his chest.
He still had unresolved feelings about anyone with Hargraves Bloodline.
He couldn’t forget the constant betrayals he had received.
However, he couldn’t deny that a part of him really wanted to meet his sister and the others again.
’But…’
Did she actually want to see him?
He had never met her.
If anything, he was more like a stranger than a brother.
“Don’t think too much about it,” Bael said, as if he could guess Neo’s thoughts. “She actually looks up to you quite a lot. You might not be as well-known as some others heroes, but your name and feats are pretty famous back at earth.”
Neo nodded, smiling faintly.
It was nice to know he hadn’t been completely forgotten.
“So who is she marrying?”
