Exchanging Vows: The Swapped Wife Is a Top Shaman
Chapter 137 - 139
Chapter 137: Chapter 139
Alpha Alaric’s Point of View
The doors of my office creaked open as Alpha Gary of the Shadow Claw Pack was ushered inside by the guard. Gary strode into the room, his eyes scanning the space before he took a seat opposite my desk.
"Welcome Gary!" I said, stepping forward to clasp his forearm firmly as we both laughed.
"It has been too long, Alaric," Gary replied warmly, shaking my hand with a firm grip. "Tell me, how is the family holding up? How is Helena doing after everything?"
"She is doing beautifully," I answered, pulling out a chair for him. "And what about your family? How is your wife’s health holding up through this cold?"
"She is as strong as mountain stone, thank the goddess," Gary chuckled, settling into the seat before his expression turned serious. "Though she sends her reprimands for your long absence."
I smiled, leaning back against my desk as I looked at him. "Now, tell me truly, Gary—what exactly brought you all the way out to my pack today? I had no idea you were coming."
"I heard what happened, Alaric," Gary spoke out. "They say you stood before the High Council and executed a decree of divorce against Mrs. Margot on behalf of your late father. To expel your father’s concubine and banish her—it is a not something you should do. Have you gone entirely mad?"
"I have not gone mad, Gary," I said back, my voice dropping to a low that brooked no argument.
"I have finally avenged my mother. For long years, the bloof of her murder stained my floors. Margot poisoned her, and yesterday, the execution was settled."
Gary let out a low, breathy whistle of shock, his jaw clenching. "Heavens... a decades-old poison. If your sister uncovers this, your pack will face a blood purge. But what of the larger crisis? The High Council is whispering that your pack suffered a breach. The iron box is completely gone. If that nation-winning war secret is compromised, a war is standing at our gates."
“The elders can talk all they want, Gary. I am telling you right now that the ancestral iron box has already been successfully found and secured within our pack."
Gary snapped his head up, his eyes widening in amazement. "What? How?"
"It was retrieved," I explained, tapping my fingers against my table with pride.
Before Gary could press further into the how it was retrieved, the door clicked open. Dominic walked in, beside him walked Ivy, her expression serene and a graceful smile playing on her lips.
"Father, Alpha Gary," Dominic greeted, as he stepped into the center of the office. "I heard that Alpha Gary had visited, and I wanted to to greet him before he left the pack."
Gary turned his head toward the door, preparing to offer a polite nod to my supposedly crippled son. But the exact second his eyes mapped Dominic’s posture... seeing him standing tall on his own two feet, completely devoid of his wheelchair... Gary bolted upright from his seat, his chair screeching loudly against the tiles as his face turned pale.
"Dominic?!" Gary gasped out violently, his fingers trembling as he pointed at my son’s perfectly aligned legs. "What sorcery is this? Your legs were completely shattered during the ambush. All the physicians declared that your physical strength was permanently frozen. How are you standing before me?"
"The physicians are blind to the true arts, Alpha Gary," Dominic replied, a confident smirk touching his lips as he casually crossed his arms. "My recovery is not sorcery. It is all thanks to the extraordinary, life-saving grace of the miracle divine doctor.”
Ivy remained standing gracefully by his side, her eyes reflecting a brilliance as she smiled silently on the side, not uttering a single word. Gary looked from Dominic’s legs to his face, as if he’s seen a ghost, as his surprise completely overwhelmed his senses. He rubbed his face, his tone dropping to a whisper as he looked at me.
"This is a miracle, Alaric. To cleanly repair a shattered spinal meridian that has been stagnant for months... it is unheard of across the kingdom. I am profoundly surprised that your pack has managed to forge such a bond with the miracle doctor.
I drew myself up to my full height. I looked straight into Gary’s searching eyes, keeping our voices completely low.
"The divine doctor did not simply patch Dominic bones as an outsider, Gary," I revealed. "The miracle doctor is standing before you. Ivy is her true name, and her true identity is that of a top, legendary high-grade shaman carrying the rarest healing bloodline in the shifter realm."
Gary froze entirely on the spot, his breath catching in his throat as the world-altering revelation crashed over his mind. He looked at Ivy, freezing into shock.
"A top shaman...?" Gary whispered hoarsely. "You are telling me that the mysterious, world-famous divine doctor who has been doing wonders... the one who cured the s lot of great people, even my wife... is actually Ivy? Dominic’s own wife?"
Dominic and Ivy looked at each other, sharing an understanding, before they both nodded in unison toward the stunned alpha.
"Yes, Alpha Gary," Dominic confirmed. "My wife holds the shamanic fire. But as you can see, this truth is the ultimate secret for all of us. If anyone uncovers her true identity or the full recovery of my leg injury it might be a bad idea."
“We have told you this great secret because the Shadow Claw Pack has always bled beside us," I interjected, stepping around the desk to place my hand onto Gary’s shoulder. "We are formally requesting that you lock your mind and use your life to hide Ivy’s true shamanic identity and the recovery of Dominic’s leg injury from the world. Can we trust your compliance on this?"
Gary swallowed hard, looking at the reality before him... a restored broken leg, and a legendary shaman. He gave me a slow nod.
"Your secrets are safe in my heart, Alaric."
