Chapter 891: Class Change
Chapter 891: Class Change
Michael did not hesitate. His fingers closed around the final orb, then he crushed it.
Just like before, it did not shatter. It dissolved. A burst of color exploded outward, brighter than the last. The swirling smoke twisted violently, layers upon layers folding into each other as if something inside was struggling to take form.
Michael’s eyes locked onto it as the colors shifted rapidly. Red. Gold. Blue. Then they slowed before stabilising into a deep, vivid green that carried a strange sense of vitality, almost like something alive.
Michael frowned slightly. "...Green?"
He wondered if the colours meant anything, but he did not dwell on it.
The smoke compressed, condensed, and then instead of forming a weapon or armor, it flattened.
A thin glowing object appeared in midair.
A parchment. Golden and radiant, covered in faint inscriptions that seemed to shift whenever he tried to focus on them.
Michael’s eyes narrowed. "...A paper?"
The moment it stabilized, the description appeared.
[Item]: Class Change Ticket
[Grade]: Legendary
Michael froze.
For the first time, he had obtained a legendary grade treasure. But that was not what shocked him. Not even close. It was the description.
Michael’s gaze sharpened as he focused.
[Description]: A rare item capable of altering the fundamental class of the user. Allows the user to replace their current class and transition into a new one under specific conditions.
[Note]: The new class will be determined by compatibility, existing foundation, and potential pathways.
[Warning]: This process is irreversible if the user takes on the class. If the user does not accept any of the offered classes, nothing will happen.
{Bound to Michael Norman}
Silence.
Michael did not move. "...A class change."
His voice came out quieter than before. He stared at the golden ticket floating before him. This was not like weapons or combat enhancements. This touched the core, the very foundation of everything he was.
His class. Necromancer. Everything he had built, everything he had risked his life for, everything was tied to it. And this item could replace it with something else.
Michael’s eyes darkened slightly. "...Legendary."
Now he understood why it held that grade. There were no stars, no secondary grading beneath it, nothing to subdivide it further. It simply was what it was, and what it was needed no elaboration.
Michael slowly raised his hand. The ticket floated down, landing gently between his fingers. It felt light. Too light for something that could change everything.
Michael frowned slightly, his grip tightening unconsciously around the ticket before loosening again.
He was confused. Truly confused. For the first time since waking up, since checking his stats, his gifts, and his titles, he hesitated. Because this was different. It was a choice that touched his identity.
Michael leaned back slowly, his gaze lowering to the ticket again.
"...Should I even use this?"
The question felt strange. Uncomfortable. Because the answer should have been obvious.
No.
He had just advanced. Just become a Lord Necromancer. Just survived something that should have killed him. Why would he throw that away?
And yet his fingers did not release the ticket, because another thought followed immediately.
"...What if there’s something better?"
The idea crept in quietly. Dangerous. Tempting.
Michael exhaled slowly, his brows knitting together. To be honest, he felt scared. Not of losing power, not of failure, but of losing direction. Everything he had done until now had been based on one path. Necromancer. His undead, his evolution, his control, his growth. It was all connected. If he changed that, would everything collapse? Would everything reset? Or would it evolve into something greater?
Michael’s gaze flickered slightly. "...Tch."
He clicked his tongue softly. This kind of decision, he hated. Too many unknowns. Too many risks.
But then his thoughts began to shift. Slowly. Logically.
"...It’s bound to me."
That was the first point. He could not give it away, could not sell it, could not exchange it. No matter what, it was his. Which meant ignoring it entirely felt like a waste.
Then the second point surfaced. The most important one.
Michael’s eyes narrowed slightly as he recalled the description. If he did not accept, nothing would happen. That changed everything. His grip on the ticket tightened slightly.
"...So I can just look."
No commitment. No forced change. No risk, as long as he did not accept. His heartbeat steadied. That alone removed most of the danger.
Michael leaned forward slightly, his eyes sharpening. "...There’s no loss."
At worst, he would confirm that Necromancer was still the best path. At best, he might see something greater, something he had never considered.
Michael went silent for a moment, then slowly a decision formed.
"...I’ll just take a look."
His voice was calm now. Steady. He had already drawn the line. He would not accept anything blindly. He would not abandon his path without reason. But he would not ignore an opportunity either.
With a belly full of worries and expectations, Michael raised the ticket slightly, his gaze locking onto it. "...Let’s see what you’re hiding."
He lifted the golden ticket and infused a thread of mana into it. For a brief moment, nothing happened. Then the ticket trembled faintly. Light spread across its surface, the inscriptions shifting rapidly as if coming alive. The golden glow intensified before detaching completely from the ticket and unfolding outward.
A panel appeared.
Michael’s eyes sharpened as he looked at it.
