"Michael, what exactly is it that you want to discuss?"

Michael didn't answer immediately. Instead, he briefly examined their surroundings before turning back toward Brian. After a moment of hesitation, he finally spoke.

"Teacher Brian, it's about your daughter."

Brian froze.

His daughter? Isabella?

The relaxed expression on his face disappeared.

"Michael..."

He wanted to ask how Michael even knew he had a daughter.

He hadn't told Michael about her before, had he?

Brian's mood soured, and his thoughts raced, but out of respect for Michael, he remained silent and listened.

Seeing Brian's expression, Michael realized that he had probably approached the subject a little too directly.

"What exactly are you trying to say?"

"Well, it's a little complicated."

Michael scratched his cheek.

"First, I want to ask you something. How much do you know about the relationship between a person's soul and their body?"

Brian stared at him.

"What?"

"More specifically, do you think it's possible for someone to retain certain characteristics of their previous existence even after undergoing a complete transformation?"

"Michael, what does that have to do with my daughter?"

"That's what I'm trying to explain."

Michael sighed.

"Suppose someone dies, but a part of their existence survives. What if that surviving part eventually transforms into something completely different?"

Brian's frown deepened.

"Are you talking about resurrection?"

"Not exactly."

"Then?"

"Well, suppose the original person no longer exists in the conventional sense, but something that once belonged to them continues existing. Would you consider that the same person?"

Brian looked at Michael as though he had suddenly started speaking a foreign language.

Was this young man trying to tell him that he had discovered some method of resurrection?

If so, why couldn't he simply say it?

"Michael, I would appreciate it if you stopped speaking in circles."

"Right."

Michael nodded awkwardly.

"Actually, I think it'll be easier if I show you."

"Show me what?"

Instead of answering, Michael raised his hand.

A spatial fluctuation spread through the surrounding area. The next moment, a tall skeleton appeared silently, violet soul flames burning within its skull and empty eye sockets. It gripped a staff tightly in both hands.

The skeleton stood motionless for a moment, apparently surprised by its sudden appearance in the wilderness. Upon noticing Michael, it lowered its head respectfully.

"Sir!"

Its voice echoed across the wilderness.

Brian watched the scene with a strange expression.

An undead?

Why had Michael suddenly summoned an undead?

He was well aware of Michael's profession as a necromancer. Summoning an undead was hardly surprising.

But what did this have to do with Isabella?

At this point Brian's mood was at its lowest. He wanted to say a lot of things but forced himself to calm down.

"Michael, I don't understand what you're trying to..."

Brian suddenly stopped speaking and hurriedly placed a palm against his chest.

Beneath his clothes, the necklace he had crafted to contain his daughter's Law Seed had suddenly grown warm.

At first, the sensation was faint. However, within moments, the warmth intensified rapidly.

Brian had carried the necklace everywhere for more than a year, yet its Law Seed had never reacted this way.

The necklace was reacting to something.

And the source of that reaction...

Brian slowly raised his head.

His gaze landed on the skeletal undead standing beside Michael.

Brian's eyes widened as an impossible thought crossed his mind.

No. It couldn't be.

Yet the reaction from Isabella's Law Seed only grew stronger.

For a brief moment, Brian's mind went blank.

Then his expression twisted.

"Bastard!"

BOOM!

An overwhelming burst of heat erupted from Brian's body. The temperature soared as a wave of scorching energy surged toward Michael.

Everything happened so suddenly that Michael barely had time to react.

One moment, he had been preparing to explain the situation. The next, he saw an arm surrounded by intense heat shooting directly toward his face.

What the hell?!

Michael's eyes widened.

He had expected Teacher Brian to be shocked. He had even expected disbelief and anger.

But he certainly hadn't expected the old man to attack him before he could say another word!

Michael reacted instinctively, throwing a punch.

BOOM!

His fist collided with Brian's approaching arm, sending the old man flying backward like a cannonball.

A deafening sonic boom followed as Brian tore through the air, smashing through everything in his path.

Trees were uprooted, the ground split apart wherever his body struck, and several hills collapsed as he smashed through them.

In the blink of an eye, he had disappeared beyond the mountains.

Michael remained where he stood, his fist still extended.

For several seconds, he didn't move.

"..."

He looked toward the distant mountains, where a massive cloud of dust was rising into the sky.

Then he looked at his fist.

Wait.

A terrible realization suddenly struck him.

Did I just kill Teacher Brian?

Michael's face stiffened.

Although he hadn't used his full strength, Michael knew that his current physical attributes far exceeded what Teacher Brian could withstand.

Shit!

Michael immediately extended his perception in the direction Brian had flown.

He had only reacted because someone suddenly tried to punch him in the face!

Who would have expected Teacher Brian to attack him like that?

Besides, hadn't they been having a perfectly reasonable conversation just moments ago?

Don't tell me I accidentally murdered the very person I came here to help!

Michael was beginning to panic.

What kind of ridiculous development was this?

Just as Michael prepared to rush after him, a sudden explosion interrupted his thoughts.

BOOM!

An enormous pillar of crimson flames erupted from the distant mountains.

The flames surged upward, illuminating the surrounding wilderness with a deep red glow.

Within moments, the flames gathered high in the sky, forming what appeared to be a miniature crimson sun.

The temperature across the region rose sharply, and even the clouds above began to disperse beneath the terrifying heat.

Michael blinked.

A sun?

Upon closer examination, however, he realized that a familiar figure was floating at its center.

It was Teacher Brian.
