Before anything, Kaelen decided to move to a secluded area to sort his loot. So he chose to check out the cabin at the center of the glade first. If it turned out there was no privacy there, not only would he move to the edges of the walls to review his loot, but he’d also be camping there until there was a better alternative.

He still hoped for the best as he stepped inside the crude infrastructure.

After moving across the ground floor, he discovered it was comprised of three major rooms.

The first and the biggest was the common room, which was the first room you stepped into upon entering the cabin. To the side was an open kitchen, which made the common room look more like a prison cafeteria than living quarters.

The second room was an armoury, which held little to no weapons inside. But from the looks of it, there had been a few weapons inside before the other candidates who came before him probably looted it. This told him the majority of his party were unaware candidates who had been pulled into this world without their consent.

It was already bad as it was, and this realization made it even worse.

Moving on to the third and last room on the ground floor, it was a general bathroom with no plumbing, where the candidates were probably expected to carry water in buckets from a nearby stream.

As far as Kaelen was concerned, there were no streams or any channels of water in the glade, unless they were so small that they had escaped his perception.

So far, there were no bedrooms on the ground floor, and calculating from the space on the ground floor, there possibly couldn’t be enough room for each candidate to stay on the first floor.

It was a lost cause, but he still decided to check it out anyway.

On arriving on the first floor, there was only a narrow corridor with four identical doors and two windows at either end of the hallway, where light streamed inside.

Kaelen didn’t want to waste too much time on that floor, so he swiftly went door to door until he arrived at the last. They were all bedrooms, four of them, spacious enough to have balconies that overlooked either end of the cabin.

Four rooms, six candidates.

Two ladies, four men.

That was what Kaelen remembered from the faces he saw earlier.

If they took the rooms in pairs, one room would be left unoccupied and vacant and could be used for various purposes or kept open for new recruits on the 9th floor.

Except, Kaelen didn’t plan on sharing a room with a stranger. He’d rather sleep outside than get stabbed in the back while cultivating, knowing full well that the human race had accumulated so many enemies that he couldn’t tell his foes apart from the neutral races.

Either way, since the room was still undecided and unoccupied, he was going to sort his loot right there.

He locked the door behind him and dropped down on the wooden cot, which groaned under his weight.

He was about to recall the notifications from earlier when he decided to navigate to his friends list and then Lysandra’s inbox to send her a direct message:

How’s it going over there?

The chat immediately indicated that she’d read it, and the typing dots appeared for a moment before they disappeared, then appeared again and disappeared completely, with no reply from her end.

Kaelen frowned slightly.

Did something happen?

Since he was about to do something, he decided to close their chat for the time being and return to his loot to give her time to reply.

[You have received the Tower Starter Pack (1)]

[10,000 Reward Multiplier Triggered...]

[Quality or Quantity?]

The reason why Kaelen hadn’t rushed to make a choice was simply that he didn’t know what the Starter Pack contained or how useful it might be for the first ten floors.

If it turned out to be survival essentials needed to survive outside the floors, he could always multiply them by 10,000 and list them on the trade platform at an inflated price for other candidates to buy.

That sounded like the best idea, except he was reminded that this was a broadcasted tournament. If he listed 10,000 Starter Packs on the trade platform on the first day of the tournament, that would attract unwanted attention and give away his reward system.

They were fully aware he had a system thanks to his mother, but they didn’t know or understand the nature of that system. If he casually revealed that it was a 10,000 Reward Multiplier, that might do more harm than good and draw so much attention his way.

Under no circumstances could he reveal the reward system. It was going to be his trump card until the very last moment.

With that being said, the way forward became obvious.

"Quality!"

[You have received a Quality-enhanced Starter Pack]:

[Tattered Apprentice Weapon Set has been upgraded to God Slayer Weapon Set (Primordial)]

[Minor Health & Mana Elixirs have been upgraded to Excellent-grade Health & Mana Elixirs (×20)]

[10-Slot Burlap Backpack has been upgraded to 100,000-Slot Burlap Backpack (Primordial)]

[Beginner Waystone has been upgraded to Advanced Hearthstone (Primordial)]

[Basic Riding Steed has been upgraded to Mount of the Supreme War Emperor (Supreme)]

[Scroll of the Fast Learner has been upgraded to Book of Kaelen (Transcendant)]

Kaelen’s brows shot higher with each and every one of the notifications, especially the second-to-last, which made him sit up on seeing that it was a Supreme-tier item, and then the last, which almost made him jump and do a front flip at the edge of the cot.

"Supreme... T-Transcendant??" His hands twitched as he almost grabbed his system panel, except it was intangible.

This was the third Supreme-tier and Transcendant-tier he was receiving after the Heaven-Splitting Twin Blades and Lysandra.

To think they would be coming from a Starter Pack he had almost chosen quantity over.

"To hell with Quantity. Quality all the way!"

Kaelen suddenly paused and leaned into his system panel to see if his eyes were playing tricks on him or if he was actually seeing his name on the Transcendant item.

Wait... what the hell?
