Chapter 298: Ch-298: Joining
After Rina, Amber, Amanda, and the others entered the room, Victor soon stepped forward and looked at the couple and said, "So, you are the ones who seek refuge?"
Victor said as the couple moved their eyes toward Victor and were startled by his appearance, and the first thought that came to their minds was, ’So young.’
As the couple looked at that pair of eyes as blue as the sky, the husband and wife felt that this gaze was as deep as a bottomless black hole. No matter how hard they tried to understand something, neither of them even managed to figure out what the thoughts of the young man in front of them were.
Victor was not only surprised by the strength of the two people in front of him, which was Tier 3, but he was also a little surprised by how beautiful the woman was. Of course, that minuscule surprise was only by comparing her to most "normal" women. In reality, it was impossible for a woman to attract him with her beauty alone. Not after spending so much time with a succubus like Amber and a sinful angel like Rina.
Edward stepped forward and introduced them. "This is Lord Victor, Lady Amber, and Lady Rina, the wives of Lord Victor."
The husband and wife nodded and then looked at Amanda, who seemed to be an important figure too. Edward calmly said, "This is Princess Amanda, one of the current contenders for the Throne."
Amanda’s eyebrows twitched when she heard "one of the contenders," but did not refute it, no matter how much she disliked it.
’What princess?’ Both the husband and wife were startled upon hearing this and looked at Amanda. The husband and wife’s eyes lit up immediately as they thought, ’If we fail to get help from Lord Victor, we can seek royal assistance.’
Seeing Victor looking at the new recruits, Edward interrupted and explained, "They did not give their names to us yet, as they will tell you only in your presence, along with their background."
"Lord Victor, my name is Watson Trigger, and this is my wife, Grace Trigger from the Beast Tamer Clan" Watson, the husband, stood up and bowed to show proper respect and etiquette.
"I see. What is it you wanted to say to me?" Victor said indifferently as he took his seat at the head of the table.
"We would like your help in saving our tribe from a Duchy," Grace said with hatred.
"Oh, which Duchy?" Rina asked with a raised eyebrow.
"It’s the Spark Duchy," Watson said with disgust, as if the word itself were some kind of filth that tainted his mouth.
"Those bastards. Why am I not surprised?" Amanda clicked her tongue.
Amber looked at her with interest and asked, "You know them? It seems they were not good people."
"They were the worst. They would capture women and even sometimes minors and sell them to nobles with weird tastes. They ran the already established slave network. I would have killed them if not for my brother, who also enjoyed their services in forming his harem. Those... bastards even tried to marry me into their family," Amanda said with disgust.
"I see," Amber said calmly, showing no discomfort. She herself had owned slaves before, and if not for Victor, she would have allowed slavery in the Silvernum Territory to use them as cannon fodder.
"What’s so special about your tribe that they even sent pursuers after you?" Rina asked with curiosity.
"Well..." Watson and Grace exchanged glances and said, "You see, we have a special Bloodline which allows us to tame strong beasts. We can even tame beasts above our own Tier..."
"So they wanted to use you to build them an army, right?" Amanda asked.
"Yes, and our blood can also make great healing potions. When they found out... they forced many women to bear children and killed the women to use their blood to make healing potions. When the chief tried to resist, they killed him with poison. Now anyone strong is killed so that we become their cattle... I managed to escape with my children and wife with great luck and difficulty," Watson said through gritted teeth while Grace wiped a tear from her eye.
Hearing this, everyone fell silent. Even the most cold-blooded person had a frown and a look of disgust. Even they found using people as cattle detestable.
"Fine. I will help you, but you need to show me your abilities first. If what you claim is true, I will help you," Victor said as he rose.
The couple’s eyes lit up with joy and said, "If you can save us, we are sure the entire tribe will become loyal to the Silvernum and serve you."
Watson said as Victor nodded with a smile and gestured for them to follow him.
---
"Holy shit," Watson said with wide eyes as he looked at the huge metallic dragon. This was the first time he had seen such a creature, and his heart pounded in shock. He looked at his wife and children, and they had similar expressions.
"Hey, is it alright to bring children with you?" Rina’s voice chimed in with a frown on her face as she pointed at the children.
"Don’t worry, Lady Rina. In our clan, these two are top tamers, and even some adults can’t hold a candle to them," Grace said with a confident smile as she looked at her children.
"Indeed," Reed said confidently as he nodded her little head vigorously.
"Lady, don’t underestimate us. We are not kids," Wanda said with a stubborn look on her face, which caused Rina to give her an amused look.
"Whatever, be careful. None of my soldiers managed to tame the metallic dragons," Victor warned. He had summoned a few more before going to the meeting and gave the task of subduing them to the soldiers. Only a few mages managed to subdue the metallic serpents, while others only managed to subdue other creatures, but none could make the dragons submit.
"I understand," Watson said as he looked at the dragon with a glint in his eyes and cautiously walked toward the first one.
Snap!
The dragon’s large metallic head immediately moved toward the approaching insect. Even though it was a metallic lifeform, it still retained the inherent pride of a dragon.
"Roar!"
The metallic dragon, which was lying on the ground, stood up with a roar, and Watson, in comparison to its giant body, made it look like an ant approaching an elephant.
"Calm down, serve," Watson said in a calm voice, but hearing this, the dragon became agitated and enraged and, without hesitation, launched a powerful breath attack toward him.
"Shit!" Watson’s expression changed when he saw this, and he hurriedly dodged the attack as the ground where he was standing was destroyed.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
As Watson tried to get close to the dragon, the dragon attacked him continuously, as if rejecting his presence.
"See, I told you to be careful," Victor mumbled as he rubbed his temples and then looked at Grace and said, "Didn’t you tell me your tribe can tame animals with a single word? How come he is being chased like a dog?"
"..." Grace opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out as she was also speechless. But after a few seconds, she recovered from her shock and looked at him and said, "Maybe it’s because it’s a mechanical lifeform, and moreover, we still have a unique skill the tribe members are born with..."
"Is that so?" Victor said, his eyes full of skepticism, and started to doubt the quest and whether they were really that good at taming animals like the quest suggested.
"Yes, big brother. You will see," Wanda said seriously, followed by her brother, who also nodded.
Watson looked at the dragon, which was flying in the sky, and suddenly dived down to lunge at his body.
He raised his hand and said in a gentle, soothing voice, "Pacify."
Yellow ripples spread from his palms and struck the dragon, but that did not stop its descent, and Watson did not move.
"What!" Amber exclaimed in disbelief as the dragon, which had seemed to want to rip Watson apart, was lying on the ground like a puppy waiting for scratches.
"Good," Victor smiled, seeing this, and then saw the other trio slowly walking toward Watson.
"Good boy," Watson said with a smile, and then suddenly his wife’s voice interrupted him. "What percentage boost did you get in your stats?"
"Oh, it completely slipped my mind. I will check," Watson said as he opened his status screen.
[Bonded Boost: 100%]
"Ah, what? 100%?" Watson exclaimed with disbelief as he rubbed his hands.
"What? 100%?" Grace said with shock, as most Magical Beasts with purest and strongest Bloodlines at least gave a boost of 50–55%, but 100% was unheard of, and not even the ancestors had gained such a boost.
"You three, go and hurriedly bond with the other dragons," Watson said quickly, and the trio’s faces lit up as they nodded.
