Evolution Online: Building a Kingdom with 100\% drop rate
Chapter 270: Ch-270: Mad King, Alaric
"Nooo!" Alaric said as he felt himself losing consciousness and being replaced by the urge to destroy everything. Soon, his body started to grow larger, wings sprouted from his back, long fangs grew from his mouth, and his pupils turned white as he gave a heart-shattering roar.
ROAR!
"Haha, go and destroy everything!" Isaac said with a manic grin on his face as he shouted at the top of his voice.
Bang!
Alaric landed inside the royal castle courtyard and was desperately trying to fight the mental attack, but each second his expression grew paler as he thought, ’Damn, I am losing control.’
"Kill everyone," Isaac said with a cruel smile.
The moment the words fell, Alaric horrifiedly discovered that his body... was no longer under his control!
His legs moved on their own, striding toward the hall’s entrance. No matter how desperately he struggled with his mind, roaring inwardly to halt his body, it was futile!
The "Power of the Primordial Heart" acted like the highest-level command lock, completely seizing control of his form.
All that remained was his consciousness trapped inside this familiar "shell," forced to watch helplessly as it carried out orders from the void.
"No!!"
Alaric roared madly in his mind, overwhelming despair swallowing him. He could sense royal guards nearby and shouted.
"Someone!! Come quickly!!"
Alaric used the last shred of control over his vocal cords to let out a hoarse, pain-filled roar: "Tie me up! Lock me down! Hurry!!"
The guards outside, hearing their king’s abnormally anguished cry, finally realized something was terribly wrong and rushed in. What met their eyes was their king—his face contorted, his eyes filled with agony and struggle—yet his body moved like a marionette, stiffly and powerfully attempting to attack them!
"Your Majesty! What’s wrong?!"
"Quick! Hold His Majesty down! Be careful!"
Though panicked, the guards’ loyalty to their king overcame their fear. They surged forward, trying to restrain the out-of-control Alaric with chains and brute force while Isaac watched with a mocking smile. He had no intention of interfering as he muttered, "This kingdom is finished. I should leave."
The next second, Isaac vanished from his place.
However, Alaric, now endowed with the "Power of the Primordial Heart," possessed strength far beyond before, approaching Tier 6. Even as his consciousness resisted, his body’s autonomous counterattacks were extraordinarily fierce. Not only that, he had attained self-regeneration that was bordering on near immortality, as every injury was healed instantly.
Swords were drawn, spears thrust. To subdue the rampaging king, the guards were forced to use weapons and all kinds of skills.
"Pfft!"
"Clang!"
The sound of blades piercing flesh and scraping against armor rang out.
Alaric’s body, which had grown due to the influence of the heart, was now the size of a giant and was impaled by several thick spears, pinning him to a pillar in the hall. Blood gushed out in streams.
Agonizing pain surged through him, yet the "Power of the Heart" worked frantically to repair the wounds.
"Father!" Suddenly, an enraged voice came through as the door was swung open and Prince Jack burst into the room.
When Jack violently smashed the gates open, a thick stench of blood assaulted them.
What greeted their eyes was a sight they would never forget in their lives—a scene straight from hell.
Luxem’s most beloved monarch, Alaric, had been pierced through by several massive spears. Head raised, eyes vacant as he stared at the ceiling, his face frozen in extreme pain, unwillingness, and endless regret.
Blood had soaked the ground beneath him, forming a dark red lake.
Around him lay fallen or gravely wounded guards groaning, broken weapons scattered everywhere.
The entire hall resembled the aftermath of a brutal civil war.
"What are you doing?!" Jack’s roar tore through the air.
"Prince Jack, something happened to the King, and he has gone berserk," one of the soldiers hurriedly explained, but before Jack could respond—
"Pfft!"
Alaric, who had completely lost his mind, struck Jack hard as blood poured from his mouth.
A violent, chaotic aura filled with destructive desire erupted like a tangible shockwave from the direction of the royal castle!
---
"Ice Age."
"Sun Beam."
Amber and Rina launched all kinds of attacks at Silent Reaper, and it worked as he was constantly distracted, as he had to dodge them, and Maria took the chance to attack.
"Damn, bitches." Silent Reaper glared, but then not only he, but Maria, Amber, and Rina also looked in the direction of the royal castle.
"This aura..." Maria’s face paled, her movement halting as they all looked gravely toward the castle.
Rumble!
"Ahhhh... so painful. What is this scythe?" Mark looked in horror, as every time Victor struck him with the scythe, he would feel his soul tearing apart.
Victor, who was clad in his Jörmungandr Armor with the scythe in his hand and was fighting Mark, also frowned and looked towards the castle. ’What’s going on? It’s Alaric, but this aura feels off.’
Mark was also confused, but he suddenly got a message in his head. ’Pull back for now, let them go and see the present I left them.’
’Isaac.’ Mark and Silent Reaper both got the message, and even though they were displeased, the fact that he could send them a mental message meant he could control their minds. Still, they obeyed.
Victor let Mark leave and heard the sound of footsteps and saw Amber, Rina, Valerie, and especially Queen Maria running towards him with pale faces.
"Damn, he left. What did that bastard do to Alaric?" Maria said with anger upon seeing her brother flee.
"I don’t think he knows. He seemed just as confused. We should go and see," Victor said, pointing towards the castle. Maria nodded as they ran towards the castle.
---
It was no longer the earlier scene of guards besieging Alaric. The hall lay in ruins—pillars cracked, ground pitted.
At the center of the wreckage, two figures wrestled!
One was Alaric—eyes completely overtaken by chaotic light, face twisted ferociously, issuing meaningless low growls!
His wounds healed at a visible speed, but his sanity had clearly teetered on the brink of collapse.
The other was Jack—desperately holding back his father’s sword, veins bulging on his forehead, teeth gritted as he struggled to endure!
"Wait—Dad! What the hell is wrong with you?!" Jack roared. Under his father’s berserk force, his body was steadily forced back, feet gouging deep furrows in the ground. His eyes were filled with shock and confusion.
What terrified him even more was his father’s current state.
"What the hell am I even supposed to be shocked about right now?! The fact that you got stabbed that many times and still won’t die? Or that you killed so many guards... what is this power?!"
Every clash between weapons and Jack’s weapon erupted with thunderous booms, numbing his arms.
His father’s strength had become abnormally, inhumanly powerful!
More guards rushed in at the hall entrance upon hearing the commotion.
Step Step
"Alaric!!" Maria’s pupils shrank to pinpricks, staring fixedly at the scene!
"Mother." Suddenly, he looked back and sighed in relief when he saw his mother and Victor enter the hall, their faces filled with shock.
Broken weapons, shattered armor, and giant corpses nearly covered the ground. Blood flowed into streams, pooling and spreading freely across the pitted floor.
The air was thick with an iron-rust stench so strong it made people nauseous.
Alaric moved like a tireless, painless killing machine.
Every sword swing, every punch carried devastating force.
Ordinary royal guards were as fragile as paper before him.
Victor gravely scanned the corridor littered with royal guard corpses and bloodstains, then looked at the eerie-auraed, hollow-eyed Alaric, brows furrowed tightly.
"What the hell... happened in this place?"
Victor stared fixedly at Alaric.
"Alaric, snap out of it! Look what you are doing!" Maria pleaded.
"He remembers a bit, like devils. Maybe it was the same method that turned your brother into a devil," Amber analyzed, and Maria, who heard this, had her expression darken as she cursed between gritted teeth, ’Damn, bastard Isaac.’
"Everyone attack together, pin him down, and Victor, try sealing him," Maria shouted reluctantly and looked at Victor, who just nodded.
As the guards rushed towards the King to pin him down, Alaric suddenly yanked the greatsword embedded in the ground and, with a casual swing, unleashed a fan-shaped, razor-sharp sword wave!
"Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!"
The few guards trying to approach him were bisected at the waist or decapitated by the terrifying sword energy!
Blood sprayed like fountains across the ruined hall walls and floor; the thick stench of blood became almost tangible.
Suddenly, his body trembled, and everyone’s face paled.
"Damn, he is breaking through to Tier 6!" Jack’s face paled.
’My daughter, where are you?’ Maria thought, as the vial of blood could be the only thing that could save them, as she looked towards Victor. It seemed like the heavens felt pity, and the next moment...
"Mother!" Seraphina burst into the room with a pale face and a vial in her hand.
"Huh?" Victor’s body jolted as his eyes were intently fixed on the vial, and a new notification popped into his vision.
