Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 532: Clean Kill

"There is no reason to waste such a precious item.", a murmur lingered.

A tremor rushed straight through the entire demi-plane.

The spatial "tentacles" attached to the world’s membrane and supplying it with power were severed. Just like the corpse before it, it was forcibly dragged away.

--

The Hydra Tribe Chief raised his hand. His palm glowed with sacred gold as it grew larger and slapped down.

The bloody figure that had just emerged from the puddle of blood was instantly crushed.

The Tribe Chief breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this. He could sense this was the last one of its kind.

Although he didn’t understand what it was or how it had appeared, he knew that the battle was finally over for now.

However, the Tribe Chief could hardly be happy about this.

Recalling the earlier scene, his expression couldn’t help but turn ugly.

The Tribe Competition had only come to an end when a sea of fresh blood suddenly spread throughout the arena and then expanded throughout Hydra City.

Figures emerged from within that blood and began targeting all Awakeners.

Although the Tribe Chief and the tribe’s elders recovered quickly and took action to suppress them, the casualties and the resulting chaos had both been devastating.

As he lifted his head and his gaze swept around his surroundings, the Tribe Chief’s expression darkened even further.

Looking at the corpses of his fellow tribe members, he scowled.

He couldn’t help but smash the puddles of blood along the ground to vent his anger.

However, he knew that he should remain calm. It was his responsibility to act as a spiritual pillar at times like this.

With that in mind, his expression softened. He turned toward the other grieving tribe members and opened his mouth to speak.

But just then, his expression changed. His body trembled.

He sensed that the detection methods left in their tribe’s sacred grounds had been activated. Someone had gone into the Dragon Blood Pool!

Sensing this, he didn’t dare to waste a single second.

Without saying a word, he instantly vanished.

Within mere moments, he had appeared deep underground.

A golden lake, the Dragon Blood Pool, entered his field of vision.

Yet just as he was about to dive into it and go deeper underground, his pupils shrank.

He noticed a figure standing at the edge of the pool.

With her back facing him and her feet resting within the golden waters, she appeared utterly oblivious to his existence.

Her aura was ordinary. Anyone who saw her would have mistaken her for an ordinary mortal.

However, the Tribe Chief didn’t.

Countless alarm bells rang within his heart.

As a member of the Hydra Tribe, the talent he awakened was dragon-related, just like his son.

As such, his intuition had always been stronger than that of ordinary people.

The moment his eyes landed on the woman, everything about her screamed of danger.

Every instinct of his body yelled for him to flee.

The moment that thought surfaced, the Tribe Chief found it hard to keep his composure.

He no longer cared about what happened in the sacred grounds.

He took a step back while doing his best to conceal his presence, intending to escape before the woman noticed him.

Unfortunately, it was already too late.

A sigh echoed throughout the underground cavern.

Before the Tribe Chief could react, the woman had already risen to her feet and turned to face him.

Such a sudden change left the Tribe Chief stunned.

Not because of the action itself, but by her speed.

He discovered that he was unable to capture the woman’s movements.

One had to know that he was a Rank 7 Awakener.

To be able to move so quickly that he couldn’t even notice it, the woman was far stronger than he, going beyond his expectations.

His expression turned ugly.

"Your Excellency... I.... just happened to be passing by...", he tried his best to give a suitable excuse, though even he knew that this was far from possible.

The woman, Liora, showed no signs of communicating with him.

After letting out a second sigh and shaking her head in regret, part of her body started to transform.

Golden scales materialized all over her right arm as the Sinforce within her body surged.

Following this, she didn’t activate any other skill.

She merely waved her dragon claw forward.

Although the two stood hundreds of meters apart, the warnings in Tribe Chief’s heart became even more obvious as he watched her raise her hand.

However, he had no time to put up a defense or evade.

The next moment, a pain assaulted his senses. Before he could react, his field of vision dramatically shifted.

His vision first spun. A moment later, the only thing he could see was the rocky ceiling.

Struggling to turn his eyes, the Tribe Chief moved his gaze toward the side.

There, he saw his own body.

Or rather, what little remained of it.

Unknowingly, his body had been split in two from the waist up.

Astonishment washed over him. He opened his mouth and tried to mutter a few words, though nothing came out of it.

Only drops of blood split along its corners before he breathed his final breath.

The vitality in his eyes faded.

The blood vessels writhing eerily at the edges of his separated body stopped moving.

Liora watched this scene unfold without any emotion. She turned around.

Clasping her hands behind her back, she approached the exit of the underground cave.

She walked past the Tribe Chief’s remains without sparing them a single glance.

Yet, just as she moved past them, two black holes materialized right above them.

Their devouring force instantly crushed the corpse apart before its essence was sucked dry.

The whole process lasted for only a split second.

If one was not paying attention, they wouldn’t have even noticed that it happened.

Yet, the increased strength in Liora’s body and the newly awakened talent gene made it clear that it was far from being an illusion.
