Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 400: Rewards No. 1

Chapter 400: Rewards No. 1

Liora stared at the five golden lights in front of her while the emotionless voice that was requesting her to choose two of them still echoed in her ears.

Her gaze focused, and she tried to make out the rewards hidden within the golden lights.

Unfortunately, the light around them concealed them completely. Liora discovered that she could not see them clearly.

She could not even see their outline, much less make out their real appearance.

She could only rely on luck to choose what reward she would receive.

…or at least, this was how Assira had previously described this process.

Yet, as Liora came to be in this exact situation, she discovered something different.

Every time her eyes landed on one of the golden lights, a different sensation would assault her mind, while her body would show a different reaction.

A fiery, burning sensation surged through her mind at first, which turned into a heaven-defying sword aura as soon as she moved her head.

A cooling sensation followed, then a chaotic atmosphere, and finally a serene power that possessed the ability to calm minds.

Each golden light gave her a unique feeling.

She didn’t need an introduction.

Obviously, each of these feelings represented the power that the treasures within the golden lights carried.

Although she could still not see their appearance, these sensations were enough to give her a small hint regarding what these treasures might be.

Liora instantly ruled out two of the five golden lights.

The fiery power was obviously related to fire elements, while the sword aura was either a treasure or a sword technique.

Although she had used such powers in the past and even used them in the present, such treasures were not what she was hoping to obtain.

Liora continued staring at the golden lights.

Her consciousness moved, trying to decipher the power and sense which one contained what she needed the most.

Soon, she had an answer.

The soul-related treasure was obviously the most important for her future plans.

As such, she immediately selected it.

Besides it, Liora also selected the treasure exuding the chaotic atmosphere.

Although the other one was interesting, seemingly able to calm her tense nerves, Liora didn’t require such powers at the moment.

What she wanted at present was to deal with the World Devourer ancestor and pave the way for her advancement after she became an Archdevil.

Everything else could wait for later.

As soon as Liora made her decision, her mind communicated with the starry sky around her.

Instantly, the golden light surrounding the rewards blurred until it vanished completely.

Liora was finally able to see what was hiding inside.

The first item was a lotus-shaped fire. Although a white layer surrounded it and sealed its power, Liora could feel an intense threat coming from it.

Beside it floated a small crimson sword, followed by a round, gem-like pill.

Finally, there was a small black seed, as well as a cluster of silver mist.

Five treasures. Each one precious enough to make even Archdevils greedy.

Unfortunately, Liora didn’t have the time to admire them for long.

Shortly after, three of the five items vanished, leaving behind only the seed and the cluster of silver mist.

They immediately shot out and stopped in front of her, as if urging her to collect them.

Before Liora could take a look at their uses and functions, the starry sky began to crumble.

A teleporting force arrived from the space around her. Without giving Liora a chance to rest, it teleported her to the second trial.

In the final moments, Liora only had the time to pick the two treasures and place them in the Space Orb.

While Liora was about to enter the second stage, a beautiful woman sat alone in a dark space.

Several moving images flashed in front of her eyes, as if she were watching several movies at the same time.

However, if Liora were here, she would recognize the protagonists of these scenes.

Alpha, Assira, and even the subordinates of the Commander…

Most importantly, the protagonist of the central scene was none other than her. The images showed her completing the first trial, obtaining the rewards, and then departing for the second trial.

As the woman witnessed it, her eyes were filled with astonishment.

Fury and apprehension flashed across her face as her aura fluctuated, evidence of her confusion.

“How is it possible?! It took me ten months to complete the puzzle, and I managed to obtain an S-rank rating!”

“How could someone complete the first trial so quickly?”

The Zerg Queen had no reason to pretend.

She was truly astonished. Having personally experienced the trial, she knew how difficult it was to complete the puzzle.

A trace of fear arose within her heart. She feared Liora’s current strength and, most importantly, Liora’s future potential.

However, this didn’t lessen her killing intent in the slightest.

If anything, Liora’s future threat only made her resolve to kill her more intense.

With chilling killing intent in her eyes, the Zerg Queen turned around and walked towards a glowing sphere at the other end of this dark void.

Reaching out with her hand, her palm touched its cold surface, and the two communicated.

Immediately, a cold voice echoed in her mind.

“Difficulty adjusted!”

“Highest difficulty test has been initiated! Please proceed with caution.”

Hearing this emotionless voice, the Zerg Queen couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

She had personally experienced the difficulty of the two final trials and understood how difficult it was to pass them.

Even she had almost perished several times during the process.

Now, with the difficulty raised to the highest level, Liora was bound to suffer greatly. Let alone passing the trials, even getting out of this place alive was nearly impossible.

A chilling smile appeared on the Zerg Queen’s face. She turned and stared at the screen, ready to witness the opponent die.

Liora had no way of knowing that the Zerg Queen had secretly adjusted the difficulty of the following trials.

Of course, even if she didn’t know, she could roughly guess that this woman was plotting something.

Since she dared to teleport them to this place, it was apparent that she had a way to get rid of them.

Her obtaining partial control over the inheritance palace was unexpected, but also perfectly logical.
