Evolution by Adding Points

Chapter 128 - 92: Faster, Higher, Stronger

"You’re not a professional athlete, so you don’t need to get bogged down in technical details and strict rules. You can’t go wrong with the most advanced training methods."

"But let’s be clear upfront: moderation is key in sports training. Overtraining can easily lead to injury. If there’s anything you don’t understand, just come and ask me anytime." Li Rui patted Chen Jue’s shoulder, promising to create a training plan for him. This was a huge relief for Chen Jue.

Moreover, the moment he heard about the most professional training methods from abroad, Chen Jue felt a surge of anticipation.

’I got a critical boost of 0.05 attribute points just from jogging for one session this afternoon.’

’If I learn those advanced, scientific training methods, won’t my rate of gaining attribute points just skyrocket?’

However, the thought of the many potential long-term issues from exercise made Chen Jue specifically ask Li Rui where to find a professional sports massage therapist.

"We have professional school doctors and massage therapists right here at the university, but since you’re not on a school team, there’s no way you could hire them."

"How about this, I’ll recommend a place to you. It’s a sports rehabilitation center. You can go try it if you’re interested, but it’s quite expensive, so I’m giving you a heads-up!" After speaking, Li Rui took out his phone and sent Chen Jue a location pin.

...

After Chen Jue thanked him profusely, the two said their goodbyes on the track.

Since he would continue attending classes at Jiang University, he’d be seeing Li Rui frequently anyway. There was no need to rush learning every single sports technique from him all at once.

Besides, after the high-intensity training that afternoon, Chen Jue felt more exhausted than he ever had before.

His legs felt like jelly as he walked out of the Jiang University gate, lugging a large backpack that weighed over twenty pounds. His original plan had been to head back to his apartment and relax with a medicinal bath.

But when he saw Wangyang Apartment, a full two kilometers away, he really didn’t have the energy to walk.

’Quite expensive?’

’Could it be more expensive than the Jingtang Club?’ Chen Jue muttered. He pulled out his phone and started the navigation for the sports rehabilitation center Li Rui had sent him.

He saw that it was all the way in Binjiang District, a drive of over half an hour.

He had no desire to drive that far.

His legs were jelly, so he knew he’d be clumsy with the brake and accelerator. He decided to just call a car using a ride-hailing app.

Once in the car, Chen Jue leaned back in the rear seat and kept his eyes closed for the entire ride, resting. He was too exhausted to even scroll through his phone.

When he arrived, Chen Jue discovered that the place, called the Tianyu Sports Rehabilitation Center, was located right next to the large hospital where he’d had his first physical exam.

It was a standalone, block-shaped building constructed along the river. The place was massive, spanning several thousand square meters, and its facilities seemed comprehensive.

It was only a few kilometers from Huaye Park. Chen Jue had passed this area before but had never paid it much mind, assuming it was some high-end private club and never bothering to go inside.

"Hello, sir. Is this your first time here? Are you in need of post-operative or sports rehabilitation?" a young woman in a nurse’s uniform at the front desk asked.

’Treatment?’

"Isn’t this for massages?" Chen Jue asked, taken aback.

"We are a professional rehabilitation center; massage therapy is just one form of rehabilitation. If you’re not familiar, you can take a look at our center’s price list. We’re currently running a promotion with package deals." The young woman at the front desk handed Chen Jue a brochure and brought him a cup of hot water.

The service was indeed excellent. Inside, Chen Jue saw people of all ages, men and women alike, on crutches.

According to the young woman at the front desk, most of their clients were there for post-operative therapy—patients recovering from childbirth or those with neurological disorders or bone and joint diseases.

In contrast, clients like Chen Jue, who came for recovery after exercise, were quite rare.

When he remembered that a major, top-tier hospital was right next door, Chen Jue couldn’t help but admire the center’s owner. ’These capitalists really know how to do business! With a huge hospital next door, they’ll never have to worry about finding clients!’

However, after finishing the brochure and flipping to the price list on the back pages, Chen Jue couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath.

The most basic rehabilitation and recovery package started at 12,000, and all packages were billed monthly for a four-week period.

’Wouldn’t that be at least a hundred thousand a year?’

’And that’s just for the most basic package!’

If you wanted a rehabilitation expert to assist, there was an additional charge, ranging from 800 to 1,500 per hour.

No wonder Li Rui had specifically warned him that this place was a bit expensive when he recommended it!

’Damn it!’

’Health really is priceless,’ Chen Jue thought as he stared at the price list, a wave of hesitation washing over him. ’But this much money is enough to party at the Jingtang Club for half a month.’

His savings of a little over a hundred thousand really weren’t enough for such an extravagance.

Fortunately, the stats on his Brother of Special Skills account gave him a little confidence. He opened the dashboard and saw that after buzzing online for a few days, his total follower count across all platforms had shot up from 100,000 to over 800,000. The growth wasn’t slowing down, either—several of his "special skills" videos had already surpassed ten million views.

He then clicked on his total accumulated earnings and saw that in just a few short days, they had grown from six thousand to over forty thousand.

This was way faster than the money he’d made slaving away at his old corporate job. The cash was rolling in like it was nothing!

’No wonder everyone complains about online influencers, yet everyone wants to be one.’

’With money coming in this fast, I guess I’ll have to make more ’special skills’ videos,’ Chen Jue thought to himself.
