Chapter 276: The Real Danger, They Won’t Give Up

Chapter 276: Chapter 276: The Real Danger, They Won’t Give Up

“Run! Run! We’re having terrible luck to actually run into Belith!” Irene grabbed Aiden’s arm and started dragging him away as fast as she could.

Aiden’s eyes went wide. He stared at the trembling space around them, stunned.

Is a Top Demon God really that powerful?

They were still three thousand kilometers away from The Black City!

Though his mind reeled in shock, Aiden’s body moved quickly. Without hesitation, he prepared to activate the long-distance teleportation effect of the Ultimate Miko’s Blessing.

“No!” Irene stopped him immediately. “I know what you’re thinking. Belith has already influenced the space here. It’s extremely unstable.”

“If you teleport blindly, we’ll get lost in the chaos. We’ll be completely dead!” she shouted.

Hearing this, Aiden’s pupils shrank sharply.

He had chosen to use the Ultimate Miko’s Blessing one more time to escape quickly, ignoring the AbyssHeartspire invitation, but he never expected such consequences.

Aiden took a deep breath, his mind racing.

If Belith was targeting Irene, then if Aiden just stayed away from her, he should be safe.

He recalled how Irene had just dragged him to run. Was she trying to save him, or was she planning to use him as bait to distract Belith at the last second?

“This is the Abyss. We have to assume the worst,” Aiden thought, his eyes filled with resolve.

He spoke in a low, serious voice. “Irene, run away on your own. I…”

Irene didn’t hesitate for a second. She gripped his arm tightly and said, “Our deal isn’t finished yet!”

“You promised to get me out safely,” Aiden said, his voice tight. “But we aren’t safe yet. You need to find a way out, fast!”

Aiden didn’t hesitate. He drained his mana and unleashed his Mythic Rank Divine Golden Sunflame.

The moment the golden flames appeared, he immediately used the skill Shadow Body Transformation at top speed.

Irene was indeed incredibly strong, equivalent to a human Great Venerable or a Demon Grand Duke.

But in a situation this dangerous, every second wasted brought huge risks.

Aiden released his skill to forcibly break Irene’s grip. It looked like a gamble, maybe even foolish, but he was confident in his plan.

“Sorry,” Aiden said calmly. “I’ve already gotten you out of The Black City safely. Our deal is over.”

That’s exactly what he had promised: to get Irene out of The Black City. Any danger she faced after leaving the city was no longer his problem.

Sure enough, Irene just took one last, deep look at him. Without hesitation, she turned and ran away.

Aiden didn’t waste a second. He activated Shadow Stealth, diving into the shadows and spreading his smoky black wings.

Within moments, he used every speed-enhancing skill and gear effect available to him, fleeing in the exact opposite direction of Irene.

“If Belith hadn’t shown up, this deal would have been perfect,” Aiden thought with a sudden jolt. “But reality always has surprises. I’ve lost big on this one!”

He warned himself strictly: from now on, he had to be much more careful.

Even though he had entered the Abyss several times, it was still filled with deadly dangers.

Aiden had only flown a few kilometers before he suddenly stopped, his eyes wide as he stared at a semi-transparent thread blocking his path ahead.

“The space behind that thread… it seems blocked!” Aiden forced himself to stay calm.

He quickly pulled a useless low-tier item from his storage and tossed it straight above the thread.

Crack!

A sharp slicing sound rang out instantly. The item seemed to be cut by an invisible blade, shattering into pieces immediately!

Aiden didn’t hesitate. He changed course and flew off in a different direction as fast as he could.

But the further he flew, the darker his expression became.

That semi-transparent thread seemed endless, sealing off the entire space around him.

Aiden stopped flying, took a deep breath, and looked up at the sky.

Belith’s massive form slowly pierced through the darkness of the Abyss. Its eyes, the size of houses, stared down at the earth.

“I told you,” a voice boomed, “You cannot escape, Irene.”

Only now could Aiden truly see what Belith looked like.

He appeared to be a giant python with four limbs, but he had no scales. His skin looked smooth at first glance, but upon closer inspection, it was made entirely of semi-transparent threads.

Along his limbs grew things like octopus tentacles, constantly sucking in the surrounding air and then quickly spitting it back out.

At that moment, Irene, who had been fleeing in panic, saw the semi-transparent thread ahead. Her face turned pale, and she stopped flying with heavy hearts.

She slowly turned around. The moment she saw Belith’s body, the fear in her eyes turned into an unmistakable hate.

“Belith!” she shouted. “Everything you are doing violates the rules set by Lord Supreme God!”

“The Swarm became a King Rank race. While Lord Supreme God is part of the reason, the biggest one is that the Swarm, despite having many branches, remains united and works together.”

“Lord Supreme God will find the truth. When he does, you are done for!”

The eyes in the sky, the size of houses, looked filled with mockery and disdain.

Belith replied calmly, “Supreme God? The Swarm isn’t fully recovered yet. The Supreme God is still forced to sleep. By the time he wakes up, I will already be the new Supreme God.”

“Irene, tell me where the artifact is, and I can make your death less painful.”

“The recovery speed of other King Rank races is also accelerating. More talents are emerging from those races, and it’s getting easier to gain power.”

“The myriad races war is about to officially begin,” Belith continued, “and I will use this opportunity to make the Swarm even stronger!”

Deep within the shadows, Aiden remained absolutely still, even holding his breath.

“A race renaissance means more talented individuals are appearing, with faster power growth and lower difficulty?” he mused.

“No, it must also involve the strongest being of a race. Belith said the God-King Rank warrior of the Swarm hasn’t woken up yet.”

“No wonder Luke said the Great Shaw Empire has seen more and more talents recently.”

“Everything fits,” Aiden thought, his mind racing.

Even in the face of such extreme danger, he didn’t stop thinking; instead, his thoughts became sharper than ever.

Common Abyss races and King Rank Abyss races… the weaker a race’s overall power, the fewer talents they have, and the weaker their strongest protector, the sooner they revive.”

Aiden felt a strange sensation, as if this was all about… fairness?

It seemed like a system to limit the strong, giving the weak time and opportunities to grow, leading up to the so-called myriad races rank war.

He felt something odd deep inside, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on exactly why it felt strange.

“Wait, the concept of fairness itself is something proposed by intelligent beings like humans.”

“On Earth, only humans create systems of fairness. In nature, it’s always survival of the fittest and the strong devouring the weak.”

“That’s strange… very strange!” Aiden frowned.

His current information was scattered and disjointed, making it hard to connect the dots.

However, as his strength grew, he was encountering more things and uncovering deeper secrets.

Just as he was thinking, he suddenly sensed the semi-transparent threads nearby start to contract rapidly.

Aiden’s face instantly turned pale. He had thought Belith’s target was only Irene. He planned to stay perfectly quiet until Irene was caught, then slip away safely. But now, with the threads closing in, that plan was in serious trouble.

“Damn it,” Aiden cursed. Belith is an upper-level Demon God. These semi-transparent threads, which come from his body, likely contain the Force of Laws.

“The Blessing from the Supreme God and my phasing effect won’t fully protect me from Force of Laws damage. Should I take the risk?”

The danger Aiden faced now dwarfed anything he had encountered before. Even if he phased and dodged the threads, Belith might still notice him. Aiden didn’t need to imagine what would happen next.

Plans never work out the way you want, do they?

“Fine, I’ll go all out!” Aiden decided. “I’ll activate the phasing effect first, then immediately use my long-range teleportation. Even if, like Irene said, I get lost in chaotic space, it’s better than this!”

Aiden hesitated for less than half a second before making his choice.

But just as he was about to move, a massive pressure suddenly crushed his body.

“Almost forgot… there’s still a human here,” Belith’s voice echoed.

His enormous eyes locked onto the shadow where Aiden hid.

“You,” Belith said coldly, “and The Black City itself, are no longer needed. Anyone who stands in my way must die. Don’t worry, you won’t die alone. I’ll soon return to The Black City, and every Abyss creature there will meet their end.”

Aiden’s eyes widened in shock. He realized now: even if he hadn’t made a deal with Irene, staying in The Black City without leaving immediately would have been fatal.

You simply can’t use normal logic to understand an upper-level Demon God.

“I can’t give up,” Aiden thought, his will hardening. “No matter what happens, I won’t give up. I will survive. I promise!”

Just then, Belith’s massive head snapped around, turning sharply to the right. His gaze turned sharp and wary as he shouted:

“Who are you? How did you manage to hide from my perception?”
