Chapter 242: Killing Demon Arrives, Rhodes’s Request
Chapter 242: Chapter 242: Killing Demon Arrives, Rhodes’s Request
Inside the Elephant Empire Palace, Emperor Xander sat on his throne, his face dark with fury.
He stared at the live broadcast screen, gripping the armrests until his knuckles turned white.
So far, the Abyss Demon side had suffered almost no casualties, while human genius players kept falling one after another.
The Scorpion-Tailed Demon, the Gaunt Demon, and the unknown Demon controlling the black vines from the shadows had all taken zero damage.
Even without reading the comments in the live stream or online posts, Xander knew for sure that the morale of the Elephant Empire’s people had hit rock bottom.
And as the Emperor, he could do absolutely nothing. He could only sit there and watch things get worse, step by step.
That feeling of helplessness was suffocating him.
Just then, his younger brother, Caleb, standing beside him, suddenly spoke up: “Brother, we still have Aiden and the others.”
Xander took a deep breath, shook his head slowly, and his expression grew even heavier.
“Aiden’s team has already used up their Teleportation Scrolls,” he said. “If there are any more Mythic Rank Demon geniuses out there, they’re in real trouble.”
Hearing this, Caleb couldn’t help but feel worried too.
He felt sure there were more than three Mythic Rank Demon geniuses on the Abyss side. Others must be hiding and waiting to show up.
Even if Aiden was much stronger than other genius ReClassers, facing so many Mythic Rank enemies, he’d probably have to just try to run away.
“Brother, since they’re all Mythic Rank, why are these Demon geniuses so much stronger than our players?” Caleb asked, unable to hold back his confusion.
Xander let out a long sigh. “I’m not entirely sure myself, but I’ve heard it might have something to do with race levels.”
“Race levels?” Caleb’s face was filled with questions.
Just as he was about to ask more questions, he saw the comments flying through the live stream.
Caleb’s pupils instantly shrank, and he quickly shouted to Xander, “Brother, look! Rowan is running straight toward where Aiden and the others are!”
Xander snapped his head around, staring fixedly at the live screen.
There was hope. There was still hope.
If Aiden could save Rowan successfully, the strongest players would all gather in one place.
Aiden, Jenna, Nellie, and Rowan.
These four shouldn’t be much weaker than the Scorpion-Tailed Demon and the Gaunt Demon in one-on-one fights.
Especially Aiden. As long as he could defeat one Mythic Rank Demon genius in the shortest time possible, he could go help his teammates.
That would turn the whole situation around.
Just thinking about this, Xander immediately shouted at the staff beside him, “Quick! Switch to the live stream for Aiden!”
The view switched rapidly to a ruined high-rise area.
Xander widened his eyes, searching desperately for Aiden. But he couldn’t find Aiden, and he didn’t see any of the other players either.
“Where is Aiden? Where is he?” Xander asked, his mind full of questions.
At that moment, in a very hidden alley, a towering killing Demon, looking incredibly imposing and fierce, slowly stepped out.
He looked down at his own body and whispered to himself, “From now on, I am Demon Aelris.”
This was indeed Aiden, now wearing the Aberrant Fleshweaver disguise mask.
The reason he had told Victor and the others to hide was to use the identity of the killing Demon to lure the Legendary Rank and Mythic Rank Demons from the front line battlefield into a trap.
In a battlefield where humans and Demons are enemies, fighting one another, no Demon would ever think that a human could perfectly disguise themselves as one of their own to lead them into a trap.
The Aberrant Fleshweaver, a Legendary Rank item, didn’t offer much stat boost, and its effects were quite limited.
But the only way this mask could be spotted was by a human divine powerhouse or a Demon of Demon God rank from the Abyss race.
As long as Aiden was careful and didn’t catch the eye of a Demon God rank expert, he could pull off his plan perfectly.
Even if he did attract such attention, the human divine powerhouses should be able to hold them off.
Still, Aiden wasn’t planning to take unnecessary risks.
He just needed to tell the Demons at the front line that a wounded human genius ReClasser might be nearby.
One more thing: with this identity, he could deal with that annoying guy, Miles, once and for all, leaving no trouble behind.
Using the killing Demon disguise, Aiden didn’t bother using Shadow Stealth. Instead, he strode confidently and quickly through the ruins.
Just as he wondered why he hadn’t seen any other Demons yet, several sharp arrows suddenly whistled out from the ruins on his left.
Aiden dodged them quickly, thinking, “No Demon found, but did I run into some genius ReClassers?”
Sure enough, he saw a few unfamiliar players bursting out of the ruins, shouting at him:
“Die, you damn Demon brute!”
“This guy’s aura is crazy strong! He’s definitely a Legendary Rank Demon genius. Attack him all together, kill him!”
“Quick! Don’t let him escape!”
Seeing this, Aiden had no intention of fighting these players.
He just wanted to find other Demons. So without a second thought, he turned to leave.
But as he turned around, the Demon he’d been desperately looking for suddenly appeared right behind him.
It was Mythic Rank Demon genius Drew, leading dozens of Demon soldiers rushing over.
“Damn humans, daring to ambush my kind! Attack them all!” Drew roared, sending his soldiers to charge at the human players.
The genius players who had just attacked Aiden instantly realized things were going wrong. Without a moment’s hesitation, they turned and dove back into the ruins.
Aiden’s face lit up with genuine joy. He put on no act; his expression was full of excited grins as he shouted, “Lord, save me!”
He didn’t even glance at the soldiers rushing past him.
All his attention was on Demon Drew.
Drew felt something odd. He stared at Aiden for a few seconds and asked casually, “You know me?”
Aiden nodded. “Of course. I know you, and I know Lord Philip. Where is he?”
The moment he heard the name Philip, anger flashed across Drew’s face. He stopped looking at Aiden and instead started replaying recent events in his mind.
“It’s all because of these damn humans. That guy Philip got badly hurt and is currently recovering.”
“What’s your name?” Drew asked offhandedly.
“Aelris,” Aiden replied straight away.
Upon hearing the name, Drew’s eyebrows instantly knitted together. His focus snapped back to Aiden.
Aiden showed no sign of nervousness or panic on the surface, but deep down, he was ready to strike at any second.
He worried that the name might violate Demon cultural traditions.
“Unforgivable sins? How could your parents name you that?” Drew shook his head in disbelief.
In Demon culture, the name Aelris symbolizes a Demon who committed an unforgivable crime.
However, Drew didn’t dwell on it too much, knowing that the Abyss Demons were a diverse race with many cultural differences.
Seeing Drew’s reaction, Aiden let out a silent sigh of relief inside.
He was just about to tell Drew the fake news about finding a wounded genius ReClasser when he suddenly saw Drew’s eyes tremble and bulge.
Instantly, Aiden reset his stance, ready to attack Drew.
He remembered clearly that Drew’s eyes could stretch out like worms to scout for information.
But what surprised Aiden even more was that, after checking the info, Drew suddenly looked at him with admiration and said:
“Aelris, I didn’t expect you to be a Legendary Rank killing Demon. Even if I hadn’t come to help just now, you could have wiped out those human ReClassers all by yourself.”
“Coincidentally, Philip is recovering from his injuries and needs a strong guard.”
“If you do a good job, I can recommend you to Grand Duke Lord.”
A flash of joy crossed Drew’s eyes.
If a Demon could protect Philip, then he could focus entirely on hunting those damn human ReClassers.
Especially the one named Aiden; if it wasn’t for him, Philip wouldn’t be hurt.
“Don’t worry, I keep my word. Your reward won’t be short. As long as you perform well, I’ll even give you a few human children as a treat so you can enjoy a good meal,” Drew said with a grin.
Aiden was smiling too.
He never expected that Drew would ask him to guard Philip.
What did this amount to?
It was like letting a wolf in sheep’s clothing right into a sheepfold.
“No problem. I’ll definitely protect Lord Philip well. No other human ReClasser will hurt him,” Aiden nodded vigorously, fearing Drew might back out.
Satisfied with Aiden’s expression and actions, Drew immediately told him Philip’s location.
He even called back the Demons chasing human ReClassers, ordering them to obey Aiden and protect Philip carefully.
Aiden glanced at these Demons.
He wasn’t really interested, since their tier was quite low.
Soon, everything was arranged. Drew left, leaving only Aiden and the Demon soldiers behind.
Aiden’s mind was now filled with thoughts of the heavily injured Philip.
He ordered the Demons to wait there while he made his way to Philip’s location.
A minute later, Aiden stared at a bank ahead, his excitement impossible to hide.
The injured Mythic Rank Demon genius Philip was inside the bank’s vault.
