Chapter 2857: 1565: Moli's Past
Capítulo 2857: Chapter 1565: Moli’s Past
“Your Excellency’s face always feels somewhat familiar.”
Teresa blinked her long eyelashes, her starry eyes repeatedly surveying Moli’s features with a contemplative demeanor.
“Are you saying you’ve seen me before?”
Moli was clearly caught off guard and began to carefully examine Teresa in return.
Then, she waved her hand dismissively and, in a big sisterly tone, said, “That’s impossible, you seem to have just completed your coming-of-age ceremony, at most a bit over 200 years old, when I traveled among the Ten Thousand Clans, you weren’t even born.”
“Your Excellency is right, it is indeed somewhat puzzling.”
Hearing this, a hint of doubt also slipped into Teresa’s tone.
Seeing this, Leo Ray couldn’t help but feel curious, nodding thoughtfully.
According to the information he had, as Moli mentioned earlier, although Forest Elves are not deadly enemies like Light Elves and Dark Elves, they are rather proud and look down upon the two who constantly fight among themselves, therefore their interactions are extremely limited.
Under such circumstances, as a Dark Elf, Teresa really couldn’t have met Moli, especially since the latter had been trapped in a space crevice for a long time.
“I remember now, I’ve seen Your Excellency in a magic painting within the clan!”
After a moment, Teresa’s starry eyes lit up, blurting out, “No, that magic painting is historical, existing for at least two thousand five hundred years, so what I saw should be your ancestor! It’s just that you look so much like that Forest Elf in the painting!”
“Oh?”
Hearing this, Leo Ray showed a keen interest, continuing to listen intently.
Moli, hearing these words, was first stunned, then evidently realized something, waving her hands repeatedly: “I’m just a common face, you must be mistaken!”
“Is that so? Whether it’s Your Excellency’s face or physique, it is identical to that Forest Elf in the painting.”
Teresa rested her chin on her hand, after staring at Moli a while longer, she asked, “Is there really no connection between Your Excellency and the Forest Language Singer of the Forest Elves?”
“Alright, you’re right, I do indeed come from the Forest Language Singer clan of the Forest Elves.”
Upon Teresa directly revealing her origins, Moli could only nod helplessly, having planned to bluff a bit.
“No wonder this girl kept denying Teresa earlier, she realized Teresa might reveal her identity.”
Leo Ray gently rubbed his chin, nodding slightly.
During his encounter with Moli, he had long detected from her words that she certainly had some status among Forest Elves, but since she kept her identity hidden, he refrained from asking too much.
Now it appears that the Forest Language Singer is evidently Moli’s true identity, and her status among the Forest Elves is special; otherwise, she wouldn’t appear in a Dark Elf’s magic painting.
“I didn’t expect Teresa to gain an unexpected insight here.”
Leo Ray smiled mildly, then asked, “Saintess Madam, what exactly is a Forest Language Singer?”
“Answering Your Majesty, I come from the Priest Family of the Dark Elves, which Your Majesty is already familiar with, and the Forest Language Singer happens to be the Priest Family among the Forest Elves.”
Teresa clearly sensed something too, first giving Moli an awkward smile, then responding to Leo Ray: “During the initial hundreds of years of the Era of Blankness, we Dark Elves once had deep contact with the Forest Elves, and that magic painting was created during that period, depicting my ancestors hosting a Holy Ceremony together with the Forest Language Singer.”
“Dark Elves and Forest Elves’ priests hosting a ceremony together? What kind of ceremony was it?”
Leo Ray’s curiosity on his face deepened, he nodded signaling Teresa to continue.
“Allow me to explain.”
Moli reluctantly pursed her lips, taking over the narrative: “To truly understand the root of it all, we must start from the Silver Moon Era.”
“During that golden age graced by Deity favor, priests’ primary role was not merely hosting celebratory events as they do now, but bearing a more sacred mission, that of listening to divine oracles, following the guidance of the Deity.”
Moli’s delicate face, fair and bright, rare showed an expression of solemnity and reverence as she continued.
“Thus, the Priest Families among the Ten Thousand Clans often emerged as top-tier houses with the most Chosen Sons of God, also producing the most Demigods, and even some newly risen Deities entered the Divine Realm, worshipped by the Ten Thousand Clans ever since.”
“Bathed in the Deity’s blessing, back then, the Priest Families’ status was on par with the Royal Family of the clans, some even surpassed them, truly triumphant.”
At this juncture, Moli sighed lightly, continuing: “But with the sudden arrival of the Era of Blankness, when Deities ceased to favor this land, the result became apparent.”
“The priests unable to hear divine oracles could no longer garner attention from the survivors of the Ten Thousand Clans?”
Leo Ray nodded thoughtfully again, questioning: “Then what became of the ceremony hosted jointly by the Dark Elf and Forest Elf priests later?”
“During the initial hundreds of years following the Era of Blankness, including first-class forces like Forest Elves and Dark Elves, most didn’t believe Deities would abandon the Ten Thousand Clans; instead, they thought perhaps they weren’t devout enough, hence couldn’t continue hearing the Deity’s voice.”
