Chapter 2724 1496: Empty of People
Without any warning, those shadowy silhouettes disappeared into thin air once again, and our Absolute Defense Barrier inexplicably shattered, producing a crisp sound of breaking glass.
Witnessing this sudden scene, everyone, including Moli, was utterly astonished.
One must understand, those shadowy figures were nearby, yet this time, they didn’t make any move to attack, nor was there any energy wave from an attack, making it seem as if the Barrier Wall was forcibly torn apart by an invisible hand.
Before the group could react, a bright gray light flashed by, and when everyone’s vision cleared, they couldn’t help but widen their eyes.
The surroundings, which were originally filled with mottled old buildings, were completely renewed. The damaged and collapsed houses were all restored, and even rows of magic street lamps that had long lost their function were relit, illuminating the entire city brightly.
Staring at the Broken Walls that were previously covered in Magic Moss, not only standing erect again but also freshly painted, with the broken roads leveled, and the street lamps spotless without a trace of rust, the group’s eyes seemed to pop out.
In just a blink of an eye, the ancient city that had been abandoned for a long time was restored to its former glory, something truly unbelievable!
“Still, there’s no sign of any Illusion Technique. What on earth happened?”
Moli didn’t care to hide her face anymore, directly lifting her pink Hooded cap to reveal her long Pointed Ears, looking around in disbelief.
“Could it be that we have traveled back to a time before the Era of Blankness?”
Bruno, with eyes wide like copper bells, exclaimed in disbelief.
“How is that possible?”
Hearing this, the others were equally shocked, all exclaiming out loud.
In the center of the crowd, Leo Ray gazed at a house inscribed with the Silver Fire Kingdom’s emblem that was restored from half-ruin to complete renewal, his frown deepening.
From the current scene, it indeed seemed that we had traveled back through time to when this city was intact before the Era of Blankness.
But it also couldn’t be ruled out that this was an illusion created by that prompting voice, given that the opponent is a Deity, doing all this would be a piece of cake.
“However, it’s not confirmed that all this is the trick of the prompting voice yet, besides, how would one explain those shadowy forms?”
“Truthfully, the two earlier issues remain unresolved, and now such a bizarre event has occurred, leaving us at a complete loss.”
For a moment, Leo Ray felt his mind was a jumble, unable to analyze what exactly happened, ever since receiving unusual Magic Communication from Calvin and others, things have become increasingly convoluted.
“But what is certain is, whether it’s the two earlier problems or the current strange occurrence, there is likely some underlying connection.”
“Right now, the urgent task is to figure out why the surroundings have been restored, it couldn’t be… that we have really traveled to a time before the Era of Blankness, could it?”
Suppressing his doubts and amazement, Leo Ray declared loudly, “Currently everything is unclear, since it’s restored, there might be inhabitants, stay alert, let’s inquire around first.”
Hearing Leo Ray’s words, the shock on everyone’s faces gradually eased, quickly composing themselves and started exploring the surroundings.
It didn’t take long for everyone to discover that indeed, there were signs of habitation everywhere, and in the distance, some houses were even emitting smoke, which got swiftly absorbed by a massive Purification Array located high in the city.
Besides, most of the houses had open doors, with tables, chairs and furnishings in full sight, filled with traces of life.
However, the group soon noticed another peculiar thing, though signs of habitation were everywhere, and even the food on the stoves was still warm, not a single soul was in sight, and even Moli, with her exceptional perception, couldn’t detect any other presence.
In other words, while the place was brimming with signs of life, there wasn’t a single inhabitant, the silence was incredibly eerie.
Upon realizing this, an unease spread among the crew of a hundred explorers.
Only the strongest among them, like the Grey Elder and Calvin, who had a keen interest in history, were curiously examining everything around, hoping to unearth some long-lost secrets from these buildings.
“Youngster of the Human Clan, could it be that there truly isn’t a soul here?”
As they walked, Moli felt a chill, unease creeping over her face as she whispered to Leo Ray, “Do you think we might not be able to return?”
Saying this, Moli felt like the sky was falling, she had just escaped from a spatial rift, and if she got trapped here inexplicably again, it would be too unfortunate.
Thinking of this, Moli wore a distraught look, her Pointed Ears drooping involuntarily.
“If it’s truly the Deity pulling the strings, we can return as long as we accomplish the corresponding goal.”
Also in distress, Leo Ray shrugged, striving to maintain a composed demeanor, replied, “But if it’s not, that’s another story.”
“But if it’s not, who else could create such a terrifying Space Barrier just now?”
Moli appeared on the verge of losing her cool, rubbing her head vigorously, complained, “Everything is too odd, where did all the people go? They couldn’t have also been transported elsewhere, right? And those shadowy forms in the ruins earlier, what about them?”
“Do you have no insight into those forms as well?”
Leo Ray nodded slightly, inquiring, “Are you sure they are not real Space Magic Puppets?”
“Absolutely not, Space Magic Puppets are my forte.”
Moli shook her head, asserting, “Those forms were more like slipping into a space rift than Space Magic Puppets.”
“There is indeed a similarity.”
Leo Ray recalled the Vaporization techniques used by Louise and Catherine of the Blood Clan, musingly nodding, “But slipping into a space rift means being in another space, how does the attack executed or the aura emitted reach us here in the real space?”
“Exactly, that’s what confuses me too, they seem to be in the same space as us, yet not.”
Moli rubbed her head again, messing up her hair, frowned, “Where exactly are they? It’s completely baffling.”
Just as Moli’s voice faded, the group was startled to notice.
At the distant end of the street, a young girl’s silhouette suddenly appeared.
She stood there motionless, her big eyes fixed unblinkingly on our group.
