Everyone Fought for Weapons, I Planted Bean Sprouts

Chapter 219: Untaught Bamboo Amounts to Nothing

  • Next Chapter

Kuang Biao’s romance truly shocked Huai Yu. She looked at the rows of sunflowers, thinking to herself, “Reciting poetry to sunflowers is such a sin!”

But she couldn’t really blame herself, could she? After all, who would have thought that the bamboo next to her was completely love-struck? Besides, too much had happened recently, and she had been too busy. When exactly did Kuang Biao poke a bamboo shoot into her house?! A hole in the house was far more important than romance.

Huai Yu went back and rummaged around. Finally, in the corner between the wardrobe and the wall, she spotted it—a low-profile bamboo shoot growing in the shadows, wrapped in brown sheaths.

The little thing sure knew how to pick a spot. Huai Yu had to squat beside the shoot and find the exact angle to see that it was facing the old, antique washbasin stand by the door, where her large red washbasin still sat. Did bamboo shoots have eyes too? GASP! Huai Yu instantly felt a chill run down her spine.

It was a bizarre feeling. Her first reaction upon seeing the shoot wasn’t to snap it off, but rather to scan the room suspiciously, feeling as if something else in the dark was itching to make a move. Damn it! Kuang Biao was really going to get a beating!

She aggressively grabbed her basket and scissors, ready to charge at the Rose Corridor. On second thought, she turned around and chopped off the bamboo shoot first. However, the concrete floor had already been pierced through, leaving a hole with faint cracks spreading around it. Seeing this, Huai Yu felt helpless and only grew angrier.

“Rose!” she shouted loudly. “Kuang Biao poked a hole in my house!”

Too much had been going on lately, and her schedule was too tight. Ever since Chen Xing came over last time and took away the vase with the bunch of Roses, Huai Yu hadn’t even had the time to replace the bouquet in her home. Now, with the basket containing the bamboo shoot placed at her feet and scissors in hand, she selected suitable soft branches while huffing angrily.

“That stupid love-struck fool just wanted to see how big the washbasin was, and it ruined my house. It has no idea how much effort goes into building a house.

“You need to teach it a good lesson.

“So shameless. It even wants to date the sunflowers and recite poetry to them… Hmph, I can do that too!

“To raise without teaching is my fault. A bamboo un-beaten will never mature.

“But don’t hit it too hard. Big Pup and Second Pup, along with my chicks, still need it to take care of them.

“Also, he can talk. I feel like you can talk too, but you just ignore me…”

She rambled on. Somehow, she felt that after everything they had been through, even though she hadn’t had the time to greet the Rose Corridor or ask it to open a path into the mountains… they felt closer than before.

SNIP, SNAP. The sharp little thorns on the Rose were as soft as a sheep’s fleece. Huai Yu happily stood on her tiptoes to sniff a cluster of tender, pinkish-white flowers high above, while continuing to mutter complaints with her nose crinkled.

After filling her basket to the brim with Rose flowers, she finally realized something. “Wow! You’ve been so good to me lately! At first, you even tricked me into kowtowing to you.”

The Rose branches swayed, showering her head with petals. But Huai Yu wasn’t the least bit terrified like she was in the beginning. Instead, she looked up at the detector nearby. “No alarm went off. Can you control yourself now?”

Having toughened up over the past few days, Huai Yu’s courage had grown significantly. “Even if it sounds the alarm, I’m not afraid anymore.”

Besides, they didn’t really dare to approach, and they wouldn’t be able to investigate anything anyway. Most importantly, Zhou Qian lived nearby. Although he never explicitly said it, Huai Yu just knew that Zhou Qian was willing to keep her secret.

“Zhou Qian is a nice guy. If he comes over, don’t hit him so easily.

“If you want to hit someone, hit Kuang Biao.”

She hugged the basket full of Roses and was just about to say goodbye when she heard the wind howling in midair. The next moment, the sound grew intensely fierce.

SWISH, SWISH, SWISH!

The sound zipped by so fast that Huai Yu was a beat late in looking toward its direction. That wasn’t the wind at all—it was clearly the soft yet steel-wire-tough branches of the Rose Corridor!

Hundreds of thin branches darted rapidly from the upper reaches of the Rose Corridor toward the bamboo forest. They were adorned with lush green leaves and pinkish-white buds, but hidden beneath the dense coverage were vicious Rose thorns of varying lengths, looking like steel spikes.

They whistled through the air, completely defying gravity as they swiftly climbed up the large patch of bamboo at the edge of Kuang Biao’s bamboo forest. Spiraling down from the tips of the bamboo shoots, they coiled and constricted like agile snakes, wrapping tighter and tighter. The long branches were stretched taut in midair like bowstrings, making Huai Yu hold her breath for fear that they might snap.

Once they coiled downward to a certain angle, the thorns—which had been soft and flat during the climb—suddenly sprang up upon finding the right spot and pierced fiercely into the hard bamboo stalks! Then, they locked the branches and the bamboo together in a death grip.

The next moment, Kuang Biao’s wailing and shrieking echoed out.

“Ouch! Oh, my god!

“Why are you stabbing me out of nowhere? I didn’t even take your territory! We’re so far apart!

“Stop stabbing me! Stop stabbing! I’m telling you, just because I’m a bamboo doesn’t mean I don’t feel pain! If you stab me again, I’m going to scream!

“AHHHHHH—”

Kuang Biao’s screams grew increasingly loud. If it weren’t for the louder howling of the wind in the bamboo forest, Huai Yu truly feared that even without the mutation alarm going off, this terrifying screeching would attract the Defense Army.

The next moment, a rustling of leaves and an eerie creaking sound filled the air. The two outermost rows of Kuang Biao’s bamboo were being dragged desperately to one side by the tightening Rose branches. They bent into full C-shapes, as if weighed down by a heavy snowstorm, with their tips touching the very base of the Rose Corridor.

Kuang Biao’s painful groans drifted over. Even though it felt nothing when Big Pup and Second Pup pecked at its bamboo shoots, right now, it seemed to genuinely feel the pain.

Huai Yu’s jaw dropped as she witnessed the scene before her. Between the Rose Corridor and the bamboo forest, a natural arched canopy had been forcibly pulled together, creating what looked like a hidden, secure bamboo tunnel. In terms of aesthetics, it far surpassed her old treehouse.

Huai Yu instantly felt a wave of sorrow. If only she had moved Kuang Biao down the mountain earlier, or grown closer to the Rose sooner, she wouldn’t have had to huff and puff, dragging tree trunks and hauling leaves to build a treehouse… How much she had suffered back then!

However, this suffering quickly transferred to Kuang Biao. Although it was merely bent over, it seemed to be experiencing real agony. Its curses soon broke into a sobbing wail:

“Y-you… don’t think you’re so great! Let me grow for another two hundred years, and I’ll be even greater than you!

“Waaah… you’re not allowed to use your Superpower to stab me!

“Why are you pulling me? Are you jealous because I grew up so tall and straight? Does it bother you…”
