Everyone Fought for Weapons, I Planted Bean Sprouts
Chapter 111 - 102: Time
Chapter 111: Chapter 102: Time
Huai Yu rolled her eyes under the umbrella.
Her fever must have addled her brain. Even though the Rose Corridor wasn’t willing to talk, it would have been better than asking Kuang Biao. That guy had such a foul mouth, and nothing he said had any value whatsoever.
She sighed, then spoke softly to the two goslings. "Big Pup and Second Pup, Mommy’s going back now. Are you cold in the rain? Do you want me to bring over another handful of hay?"
However, she poked her head into their shelter and found a thick layer of dry bamboo leaves, along with a pile of finely mashed bamboo shoots...
Alright, they clearly didn’t lack anything.
She turned and left the bamboo forest, leaving Kuang Biao calling out behind her. "Hey! Don’t go! Give me a little more! I support you not being human! Whatever you want to be, I can lie for you next time! Just give me a little more!"
The rain was falling heavier and heavier. The soil beneath her feet quickly became saturated, squeezing out rings of mud around the edges of her shoes.
Huai Yu looked over at the Rose Corridor again and couldn’t help but ask, "What exactly is the relationship between you and me?"
The Rose Corridor’s branches swayed gently in the wind and rain. Raindrops slid down the wet flowers and plunged to the ground. It acted as if it were just an ordinary plant that couldn’t understand a word she said.
Huai Yu was speechless.
"If you don’t tell me now, I’m not going to kowtow to you anymore," she said in frustration. "We definitely have a connection, and sooner or later, I’ll figure it out."
She held her umbrella and turned to leave, but after a moment’s thought, she felt unsatisfied and turned back. "No way. Don’t tell me... Is the reason you won’t tell me because there’s some unspeakable backstory between us?"
Oh no! Could it be that in the past, she wasn’t just a robust and tough peasant woman, but also had some tragic melodrama with the Rose or Wu Yue? Either possibility was completely absurd!
The Rose Corridor suddenly shuddered, and a SPLATTER of water droplets flew sideways at her, just like a dog shaking off its wet fur. Huai Yu stood there dumbfoundedly holding her umbrella. In the end, it managed to protect absolutely nothing except her head and face.
"Ah!!!" She stomped her foot angrily. "I only have three sets of clothes in total!"
With a SMACK beneath her foot, mud splashed out from a small puddle, successfully plastering itself onto her pants and shoes.
Huai Yu was speechless. She puffed out her cheeks.
Returning to the treehouse in a sorry state, Huai Yu sighed. She couldn’t understand why she hadn’t just stayed in bed on such a lovely rainy day, reading about toads and swans, instead of going out to ask those messy questions.
Now look at her—new chores had arrived. She had to boil water for a bath, wash her clothes, and scrub her shoes. Having just recovered from a serious illness, her body couldn’t withstand staying wet and cold like this.
Looking at her only two remaining buckets of water, Huai Yu paused and glanced at the barnyard grass tree by the pond not far away. Speaking of which, that constantly dropping water orb fell at a fairly high frequency... Could it be used as a shower in the summer?
Maybe she could build a treehouse around it? A brick house would work too. There were plenty of floor tiles left in that abandoned treehouse that she could use. If she bought some cement and river sand and built it slowly, it should be feasible, right?
It would be quite easy to just have Kuang Biao grow some bamboo shoots to build it, but him... He was far too prone to pushing his luck.
Huai Yu thought about it and decided she was better off building one herself. But first, she needed to take a bath and change into her final clean set of clothes!
Then again, why was the Rose Corridor so unwilling to answer?
Carrying this question with her until the rain stopped the next morning, Huai Yu decided to make a trip to Sanqing Mountain. In her hazy memories, she had seen the tree cocoon where she awakened, as well as an ancient Daoist Palace...
She still couldn’t remember where the Daoist Palace was, but she should be able to find the tree cocoon if she searched for it. She could drag it back and examine it. Maybe then the Rose Corridor would be willing to tell her a thing or two?
She got herself ready. This time, she didn’t even carry her woven basket; her sole target was the tree cocoon. But right at that moment, the scheduled daily morning broadcast chimed in.
[Today is April 24, 2066. Sunny. Air mutation index: 6. No anomalies currently reported at Sanqing Mountain. Wilderness mutation index...]
Huai Yu listened, completely dumbfounded.
It wasn’t because the Wilderness’s mutation index was spiking. After all, such spikes had been ongoing since the heavy rain. If not for that, Zhou Qian and the others wouldn’t have been dispatched to the Wilderness. But... the problem was the date!
The day she had dragged her sick body out to water the plants was clearly April 20. She assumed she slept from the 20th to the afternoon of the 21st, then got splashed by the Rose Corridor. Today was supposed to be a sunny 22nd!
How did it become the 24th?!
She just had a cold... okay, maybe a slight fever, but she actually slept for three days straight just from taking a nap?! No wonder her chicks had been starving like that!
