Everyone Can Hear My Thoughts, and Now They're Panicking

Chapter 244: Escort Him Out, We Won’t Be Cooperating Anymore

Jasper Sterling smiled at her. "Senior, why are you looking at me like that?"

Those peach blossom eyes were clear and innocent, as if he weren’t the one who had just blocked Gordon Dawson from every possible contact method.

Jane Lancaster: "..."

’Forget it. Blocked is blocked.’

Jasper Sterling chuckled softly and lowered his gaze.

He certainly wouldn’t allow Gordon Dawson another chance to contact or harass her.

If those high-and-mighty gods wanted to play a game that involved breaking her proud spirit and shattering her dignity, then there was no need to follow the rules.

He gently took Jane Lancaster’s hand, gave a soft tug, and pulled her into his embrace. He braced his hand against the back of the seat, trapping her in his arms to prevent her from escaping.

"Am I not good enough? Senior, why do you have to look at other men?"

Jane Lancaster answered perfunctorily, "I’m not looking at other men. After all, you’re so amazing! All the men in the world couldn’t hold a candle to your little finger!"

’Of course not. No man in the world is as manipulative as you! Okay, can you let me go now?’

"Liar!" Jasper Sterling looked down at her. Their eyes met, and his gaze fell on her earlobes, which were gradually turning crimson. His breath hitched slightly.

Those radiant peach blossom eyes instantly darkened, seeming to stir with a dangerous, hidden desire.

Jane Lancaster’s heart pounded. Finally, unable to take it anymore, she angrily shoved his face to the side. "Pervert!"

Just then, the car stopped. Seizing the moment Jasper Sterling loosened his grip, she opened the door and hastily fled the vehicle.

Her cheeks were still ridiculously red, as if they were on fire.

A muffled laugh rumbled in Jasper Sterling’s throat. He thought for a moment but decided not to chase after her.

He had many things to attend to, so he could only have his bodyguard follow Jane Lancaster.

——

After Gordon Dawson returned that day, he mentally reviewed the situation and admitted to himself that he had been a bit rash and impulsive.

Although he had seen through Jane Lancaster’s true nature and knew she admired him, women... if you’re too good to them, they tend to get arrogant.

So after he got back, he deliberately gave Jane Lancaster the cold shoulder, having decided not to reply to her texts or answer her calls.

The more hot-and-cold he acted, the more insecure and anxious she would become, and the more proactive she would be.

In love, the one who takes the initiative is bound to lose disastrously.

Gordon Dawson was full of confidence. Even though Pauline Shaw was the only serious girlfriend he’d ever had, he had more flings than he could count on two hands. He knew women.

But he had been giving her the cold shoulder for a while now, and Jane Lancaster hadn’t sent a single message. Wasn’t that a bit too strange?

Gordon Dawson thought for a moment. For the sake of her pretty face and the fact that she was spoiled by her father, he... supposed he could be the proactive one again, just this once.

He tentatively sent her a message, only to be met with a bright red exclamation mark!

What was going on? He hurriedly called her, only to find he had been blocked there too!

That morning, Gordon Dawson was so furious he smashed his brand-new phone.

After a while, he calmed down and thought carefully about the suspicious parts.

Pauline Shaw had gone to pick up Luna Morgan this morning, and she had even called him before she left. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

’So Jane Lancaster must have simply forgotten to unblock me, right? That silly, scatterbrained girl!’

Having identified the root of the problem, Gordon Dawson’s mood improved significantly. He called over a subordinate, borrowed his phone, and sent a text to Jane Lancaster.

He sent, "Babe, it’s me. You forgot to unblock me, didn’t you?" and then looked over a project proposal while waiting for her reply.

After a long time with no reply, he found it strange and couldn’t resist calling her, only to discover he had been blocked again!

Gordon Dawson’s face instantly darkened. He smashed the phone once again.

He wasn’t a patient man. Her blocking him time and again made it clear she was trying to dump him.

’Fine. Just fine. I’ve never failed with a woman before, and I certainly won’t let this go!’

"President Dawson, what are you doing...?" his assistant asked, looking at him with alarm and uncertainty. Borrowing his phone was one thing, but how could he just smash it?

"It’s just a phone. I’ll pay you back," Gordon Dawson said, his face as black as ink.

The assistant swallowed the rest of his words and glanced back at the conference room inside.

This bid was very important. Pauline Shaw had pulled some strings to get Gordon Dawson this client. Today was just a formality before they could begin their official partnership.

Even if the deal was already in the bag, there was no need to lose his temper on someone else’s territory. It wouldn’t be good to leave a bad impression.

Gordon Dawson calmed down. The bid was more important.

The noise from the meeting room startled a group of people passing by.

Beverly Lynch stopped in her tracks and frowned. "Smashing things while here for a bid? Escort them out. We won’t be working with them in the future."

——

When she got off work, Pauline Shaw glanced at her phone and saw there were still no calls from Gordon Dawson.

This had never happened before. He had seen all her missed calls; wasn’t he worried something had happened to her?

What’s more, Luna Morgan was with her. Did he no longer care about his ’sister’ Luna, too?

She was supposed to visit Yara Yates at the nursing home today, but a sense of unease drove her to Gordon Dawson’s house instead.

No one was home. He wasn’t at his company either.

It wasn’t until after eleven at night that she finally got a call. "Sister-in-law, we’re at the bar! You have to come quick and tell Joe to stop fighting!"

By the time Pauline Shaw rushed over, the battle was already over.

Gordon Dawson had some scrapes on his face, but the few punks he was fighting had clearly gotten the worst of it. They were all bruised and swollen.

The bar’s security guards had both parties pinned down.

The bar manager had a grim expression, radiating a menacing aura. "You dare cause trouble in my bar?"

Pauline Shaw’s heart dropped. She hurriedly pushed through the crowd and rushed in. "I’m sorry, I’m so sorry! We’re willing to pay for any damages to the bar!"

"Miss Shaw?" A man walked down the stairs from the second floor, smiling as he greeted her. "Long time no see."

"Mr. Leo?" Pauline Shaw understood instantly. "This is your bar?"

Sean Grant turned to the manager and instructed, "Since this gentleman is a friend of Miss Shaw’s, just let it go."

"...Thank you," Pauline Shaw said.

Sean Grant: "Don’t mention it. You’re a good friend of Luna’s. It’s only right that I help you."

He paused, then added, "However, this friend of yours seems a bit hot-headed."

Coming from him, "hot-headed" was not a compliment.

Tonight, Gordon Dawson and his group had booked a booth at the bar. They were drinking and dancing, and with his handsome looks and wild aura, he didn’t turn away any of the women who came on to him, becoming the center of attention.

Then, because he flirted with a woman someone else had their eye on, an argument broke out and they came to blows.

Sean Grant’s words were pointed. Pauline Shaw followed his gaze and saw the lipstick stain on Gordon Dawson’s white shirt, and her heart sank.

In Aethelgard, the comments were flying by.

[Wait, isn’t the first meeting between the villainous boss and Gordon Dawson supposed to be one of mutual appreciation and probing? Why does it seem like he looks down on him now?]

[The plot went off the rails ages ago. What’s there to appreciate? Besides, they were supposed to have met much earlier.]

[I really don’t see the appeal of this character. He’s supposed to have a secret crush on our baby Luna, but what the hell is this now?]
