Chapter 212: Chapter 212: She Covets Everything of Yun Sheng’s, and Wants to Take It All

Yun Sheng’s fingers tightened slightly.

She looked at Xing Che’s profile, at the faint light in his eyes, and a strange feeling suddenly welled up inside her.

"So I constantly honed my spiritual power, pushed my limits again and again, and forced myself step-by-step to S-Class..." He paused, turning to look at Yun Sheng, the corner of his lip curling into a half-smile. "And then to SSS-level."

Yun Sheng opened her mouth, but she suddenly didn’t know what to say.

Comfort him?

’Xing Che probably doesn’t need it.’

’He’s so powerful. Even if he was once weak, he’s long since become indestructible.’

’But not offering comfort would seem a bit cold, as if she didn’t care about his past or was indifferent to the hardships he’d endured.’

"Don’t look at me like that." Xing Che reached out and flicked Yun Sheng’s forehead lightly. The tap wasn’t hard, but it snapped her back to her senses. "I didn’t tell you all this to make you pity me."

Yun Sheng shook her head. "I don’t pity you."

"Then what is it?"

She thought for a moment, then said earnestly, "I admire you."

Yun Sheng knew very well what it was like to face the world with a low Level and weak abilities.

She had lived on the Capital Star, with the Lin Family, wanting for nothing in terms of food or clothing, yet her life had still been incredibly difficult.

Let alone what it must have been like for Xing Che, who was just a child back then in a chaotic place like the Eighth Star Zone.

Xing Che paused, taken aback for a second, then smiled.

It was a faint smile, but it spread from the depths of his eyes, like a lamp suddenly lit in the morning light.

"Admire me?" he repeated, his tone carrying an indescribable nuance. "You’re the first person to ever say that to me."

Yun Sheng looked at him and smiled too.

"Then I’ll say it more often in the future."

Xing Che’s gaze wavered slightly, and he reached out to gently ruffle her hair.

Yun Sheng didn’t pull away. She just stood there quietly, letting his hand rest on the crown of her head, warm and light.

The morning breeze swept by, lifting the stray hairs at her forehead. She suddenly spoke up, "Xing Che, can you teach me?"

Xing Che’s hand froze. "Teach you what?"

"How to improve my spiritual power and combat strength." Yun Sheng looked up, meeting his amber-gold eyes, her gaze earnest and frank. "I’ve learned a lot from Si Jin and Bai Ye, but it’s far from enough."

Xing Che looked down at her for a long moment before speaking.

"You certainly know who to ask." His voice was low, tinged with a bit of teasing. "One Former War God and one current War God aren’t enough for you to learn from?"

Yun Sheng shook her head. "You’re different from them."

"How am I different?"

"You climbed your way up from the bottom," Yun Sheng said, looking at him seriously. "You know how a weak person can become strong. They don’t. They were born as the strongest."

She wasn’t wrong about that.

The original novel clearly stated that Si Jin and Bai Ye had awakened as the most heaven-defying SSS-level powerhouses. They were top-tier experts from the very beginning.

Much of what they taught her was, in fact, a struggle for her to grasp.

Xing Che was silent for a few seconds before flicking her on the forehead again, this time a little harder than before.

"Alright," he said, a hint of laughter in his voice. "I’ll teach you. But I’m very strict. Don’t come crying to me when things get tough."

Yun Sheng rubbed her forehead and curved her lips into a smile. "I won’t cry."

Xing Che watched her. The morning light fell on her face, making her curved eyes and brows seem exceptionally bright.

His heart skipped a beat. He suddenly leaned in, planting one hand on the tree trunk behind her, half-enclosing her in his arms.

The distance between them closed abruptly, so close he could see the lingering trace of a smile in her eyes, so close he could feel the warm puff of her breath.

Yun Sheng froze, her body leaning back slightly.

"What are you doing?" Her voice was a little strained, but she didn’t dodge.

Xing Che looked down at her, his amber-gold eyes reflecting her image. The morning light swirled within them like molten gold, dazzling enough to hold one’s gaze captive.

"Teaching you the first lesson," his voice was hushed, laced with a lazy nonchalance and an indefinable allure. "Reaction time."

As soon as he finished speaking, his hand suddenly swept past her side, his fingertips brushing against the fabric at her waist, stirring a barely-there breeze.

Yun Sheng’s body tensed instinctively. She jerked back, her back hitting the tree trunk, leaving her with no room to retreat.

Xing Che’s hand stopped at her waist, not quite touching her, just an inch away. The distance was so ambiguous it made one’s heart clench.

"Your reaction is too slow." His voice was lazy, laced with a hint of a smile. "If I were a pollutant, you’d be injured by now."

Yun Sheng’s heart was pounding. She glared at him, wanting to push him away, but her hand stopped halfway up.

’I can’t let him lead me by the nose every time.’

She took a deep breath, suddenly reached out, grabbed the wrist of the hand he had propped against the tree, and yanked it to the side.

A flash of light crossed Xing Che’s eyes. He didn’t resist, letting her force pull him half a step to the side.

Yun Sheng used the opening to slip out from his side. She retreated two steps away, then turned to face him, panting slightly.

"How about that?" she asked.

Xing Che glanced down at the wrist she had grabbed, then looked back up at her, the corners of his mouth slowly curling into a smile.

"Much better," he said, his voice holding genuine appreciation. "But..."

He suddenly took a step forward. Yun Sheng instinctively stepped back, but this time she didn’t panic. She steadied herself, her gaze locked on him.

"Not bad, you know not to panic now." Xing Che stopped in front of her, not advancing any further. His hand, however, darted out and quickly tapped the tip of her nose. "You passed the first lesson."

Yun Sheng glared at him. "You did that on purpose just now, didn’t you?"

"What?" Xing Che put on an innocent expression.

"Scaring me on purpose."

Xing Che laughed, his smile both open and infuriatingly smug.

"Yes," he said. "How else would I know what your reaction time is like?"

Yun Sheng gritted her back teeth, suppressing the urge to hit him.

Seeing her looking both angry and helpless against him, the amusement in Xing Che’s eyes deepened.

The morning light fell upon them, stretching their overlapping shadows long. From a distance, the scene looked intimate and sweet.

This exact scene was witnessed by Lin Yueyao, who was just walking out of the command tent.

She had been performing a spiritual cleansing for Qi Yao all night. Qi Yao’s condition had temporarily stabilized, but his spiritual landscape was still in bad shape.

Her spiritual power was severely depleted, and she urgently needed to rest and recover her strength, which was why she had ended the session for now.

Who would have thought that the moment she came out, she would see Yun Sheng standing with a strange man. The man was very close to her, his posture intimate, and although Yun Sheng was glaring at him, she hadn’t actually pushed him away.

Lin Yueyao’s steps faltered for a moment.

She narrowed her eyes, her gaze falling on the unfamiliar man.

From a distance, she couldn’t see his face clearly, but she could keenly sense the powerful spiritual power emanating from him.

’His Level is definitely not low. For me to feel this way, he must be at least S-Class!’

Lin Yueyao’s brow furrowed for a second before smoothing out. She immediately put on her usual gentle and appropriate smile and started walking toward Yun Sheng.

"Yun Sheng, why are you up so early?" Her voice was soft and tinged with concern as her gaze shifted from Yun Sheng to Xing Che, her smile radiant. "And this is...?"
