Every Sentinel I Dreamed of Came Looking for Me
Chapter 201: Dream Entanglement: I’m Sorry, I Lost Control
Chapter 201: Chapter 201: Dream Entanglement: I’m Sorry, I Lost Control
Yun Sheng looked at Bai Ye’s eyes, which were so strained they looked like they might bleed. She saw how he was on the verge of losing control yet desperately holding himself back, and for a moment, her heart softened.
But she quickly suppressed that flicker of softness.
She took a deep breath and pulled her hand from his palm.
"Thank you." Yun Sheng’s voice was a bit hoarse, but steady. "I’m fine now."
Bai Ye’s hand froze in midair. After a few seconds, he slowly pulled it back.
He lowered his eyes and said nothing, but the hesitation and dejection in the way he withdrew his hand were more painful to watch than any words.
Yun Sheng looked away, unable to watch any longer.
She took half a step back, trying to create some distance.
But Bai Ye’s chaotic spiritual power surged toward her like a bursting dam, wrapping around her wrists, waist, and neck, pulling her completely into its scorching turmoil.
Bai Ye’s brows furrowed. He gritted his teeth, trying to retract it, but his spiritual power was completely out of control. In fact, his attempts to suppress it only made it more frantic.
"You..."
Yun Sheng had just started to speak when the force yanked her, causing her to stumble.
Her spiritual power was tightly entangled with Bai Ye’s. Like dry kindling set ablaze, she had no strength to resist. Instead, she actively met his, winding around it even more tightly.
The moment their two streams of spiritual power intertwined, a familiar sensation erupted from the depths of their souls, and both of them shuddered mentally.
Bai Ye’s reaction was even more intense.
Ever since he’d injected those three inhibitors, the side effects had clung to him like a cancer eating at his bones.
Every inch of his bones ached faintly, and his spiritual landscape felt as if it were being constantly scorched by something, never knowing a moment of peace.
He had endured it for so long that he’d begun to think the searing pain would be with him for the rest of his life.
But the moment Yun Sheng’s spiritual power entered him, it was as if a cool spring had washed over the scorched areas. The pain was soothed away bit by bit, the heat extinguished inch by inch.
It was too comforting. So comforting he just wanted to drown in it, so comforting he wanted more. More!
The moment Yun Sheng’s spiritual power delved deep into his spiritual landscape, his reason completely snapped.
He unconsciously took a step forward, grabbed Yun Sheng’s wrist, and pulled her into his arms, lowering his head to kiss her.
His lips were scorching hot, pressing and grinding against hers. Yet it was only grinding, as if he were afraid of hurting her, as if he were desperately restraining himself from doing more.
Bai Ye’s lips were trembling, and his entire body was shuddering along with them. But he didn’t deepen the kiss, just kept them pressed against hers, as if using every last ounce of his strength not to lose control completely.
A moment later, he abruptly pulled away.
His eyes burned even redder, looking as if they were about to bleed. The veins on his temples throbbed, and his whole body was trembling slightly.
His spiritual power was in complete disarray, surging wildly around him, while deep within his spiritual landscape, it felt as if something was turning everything upside down.
His condition was immeasurably worse than before!
"I’m sorry," Bai Ye said in a low voice. His overly hoarse tone carried an irrepressible tremor. "I... lost control."
Yun Sheng had never seen this side of Bai Ye.
The lofty Star Alliance War God, always calm and self-possessed, always in control of everything.
But now, he stood before her with crimson eyes, a trembling body, and a hoarse voice, like a heavily wounded, caged beast.
He was apologizing to her, his posture so humbled it was suffocating to see.
’I must be the first person to ever hear the White War God apologize.’
But she didn’t feel happy at all. In fact, her chest felt terribly tight, as if something were lodged in it.
"You..."
Yun Sheng opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but he cut her off.
"Weren’t you able to wake yourself up and escape the dream before?" Bai Ye spoke extremely fast, as if using his last ounce of strength. "Hurry up and get out! Otherwise, I’m afraid I’ll..."
He didn’t say the words "afraid I’ll do something worse," but those unspoken words were more terrifying than if he had said them aloud.
The moment the words left his mouth, he gritted his teeth and began to forcibly retract, strand by strand, the spiritual power that was intertwined with Yun Sheng’s.
The chaotic energy, like a trapped beast, rampaged around and even inside his spiritual landscape, crashing about until his face turned as white as paper and large beads of sweat dripped from his temples.
Yet he ruthlessly suppressed it, controlling his spiritual power and not letting it approach Yun Sheng by even an inch.
Yun Sheng watched Bai Ye, watched his body that still trembled despite his desperate restraint. The tightness in her own chest grew heavier and heavier, until she could barely breathe.
"In your current state, you can’t inject any more inhibitors, can you?" Her voice was strained. "After I leave the dream, what will you do? Bai Ye, do you want to fall and become a Dark Sentinel?"
Back in Zone 10, if someone became a Dark Sentinel, they might still have a chance to leave, like Si Jin did.
But Bai Ye was now on the Capital Star.
The moment he transforms, the high command of the Star Alliance and the Tower will mobilize all their forces to execute him on the spot.
It wouldn’t be the first time they’d done something like that!
Bai Ye was silent, his jaw clenched tight, his Adam’s apple bobbing violently.
After a long moment, he spoke in a hoarse voice, "I’ll figure something out myself."
"What could you possibly figure out?"
Yun Sheng’s voice rose unconsciously, laced with an anxiety she herself hadn’t noticed.
"You can barely even stand! Your spiritual landscape is countless times worse than before. What could you possibly figure out?"
Bai Ye didn’t speak.
He stood there, his crimson eyes fixed on her, a storm of emotions churning in their depths, but in the end, he just looked away.
"...You should go." His voice was low, so low it was as if he were talking to himself.
Yun Sheng looked at him, at the way he was trying to send her away even though he clearly couldn’t hold on much longer. Suddenly, the tightness in her chest erupted into a blaze of fire that made her ache.
She took a deep breath and stepped forward.
"I’m not leaving," she said. Her voice wasn’t loud, but it was firm. "I’m here. I won’t let you become a Dark Sentinel."
Bai Ye’s head snapped up, his crimson eyes filled with disbelief.
His lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but the words were stuck in his throat, and not a single one would come out.
Yun Sheng raised her hand, gently pressed it to the center of his forehead, and decisively sent her spiritual power into his ravaged spiritual landscape.
"You are Bai Ye, the Star Alliance War God. You’ve killed so many High Order contaminants, protecting all the people of the Star Alliance. I... I can’t just stand by and watch you become a Dark Sentinel."
She paused, her spiritual power roaming deep within his spiritual landscape, tracing over the cracks that were still spreading.
"Only if you live can you kill more contaminants and protect more people."
Bai Ye shuddered, and a violent tremor ran through his gaze. Then, as if something had stolen the last glimmer of light, his eyes dimmed.
He lowered his head and stared at his hands—the same hands that had once wielded a blade to cut down countless contaminants, but were now trembling slightly.
"So that’s why," he said slowly, his low, hoarse voice tinged with a clear note of bitterness.
Yun Sheng heard him but said nothing. She only pushed her spiritual power deeper, pressing down on the turbulent cracks one by one, smoothing them over.
’It felt like something had gently pricked her heart. It didn’t hurt, but the tightness was overwhelming.’
She didn’t know why she couldn’t bring herself to look at Bai Ye, or why her heart felt so heavy.
