Every Sentinel I Dreamed of Came Looking for Me
Chapter 175: Dream Entry: Encountering a Troublesome One
Chapter 175: Chapter 175: Dream Entry: Encountering a Troublesome One
When she opened her eyes again, she was met with a familiar expanse of gray and white.
Yun Sheng froze for a moment before realizing she was standing in that void-like space again.
Grayish-white mist flowed at her feet, boundless and unending. She couldn’t see the path behind her, nor could she see what lay ahead.
She looked up, her gaze piercing through the hazy mist, and vaguely saw a tall figure standing not far away.
Yun Sheng’s heart skipped a beat.
’Is that Si Jin?’
’Please don’t let it be Bai Ye!’
She had just rejected him in the real world. How awkward would it be to run into him again in a dream?
Yun Sheng stood rooted to the spot, not moving for a long while.
The figure remained motionless as well, as if waiting for her to approach.
She bit her lip, hesitated for a few seconds, and finally started walking forward.
The mist parted before her feet and closed in again behind her.
The distance between them shrank, little by little.
The man’s silhouette grew clearer—broad shoulders, a tall and slender frame...
Yun Sheng’s brow furrowed slightly.
’This back...’
’It’s not Si Jin.’
She could recognize Si Jin’s figure even with her eyes closed, and it wasn’t this.
’And it’s not Bai Ye, either.’
When Bai Ye stood, his back was always ramrod straight, like a blade that would never bend.
’Then who is this person in front of me?’
Yun Sheng’s steps faltered as a bad feeling washed over her.
Just then, the person in front of her suddenly turned around.
Yun Sheng found herself looking into a pair of familiar amber eyes.
’It’s the mysterious man!’
Her whole body stiffened.
Her first instinct was to back away.
Seeing her almost reflexive movement, the man’s previously expressionless face suddenly curved into a playful smirk.
"Heh."
He let out a soft chuckle.
"We meet again."
Yun Sheng’s throat tightened, and she subconsciously took another half-step back.
But this dreamscape was endless. Where could she possibly retreat to?
Seeing her guarded look, the amusement in the man’s eyes only deepened.
"Don’t be nervous," he said slowly. "I didn’t expect to see you here either."
He paused, his gaze sweeping over the gray, void-like space around them, a thoughtful glint in his eyes.
"I was just catching up on some sleep during the day. I didn’t expect to end up here the moment I drifted off." He looked at her, one eyebrow raised slightly. "Tell me... what’s going on?"
Yun Sheng didn’t speak.
This was her dream space, but she had no control over when she entered it or who she would meet.
She had no idea why he was here too!
The man saw her obvious reluctance to speak but didn’t get angry.
He simply took a step forward.
Yun Sheng immediately took a step back.
The man stopped, narrowing his eyes at her. The smirk on his lips became even more playful.
"So, this is your hidden secret? Don’t tell me those two War Gods also developed feelings for you because they meet you in your dreams all the time?"
Yun Sheng’s brows knitted together.
The man continued, "And then there’s your strange spiritual power..."
He had previously tried to invade Yun Sheng’s spiritual landscape to probe her secrets, but his spiritual power had ended up entangled with hers.
That feeling—soft, warm, and carrying an indescribable intimacy—was something he had never experienced before.
Besides finding the taste of it addicting, more importantly, the density of his spiritual power had actually increased slightly afterward. Even some of the cracks that were slowly forming in his spiritual landscape seemed to be breaking apart more slowly.
The changes were so subtle that he even wondered if it was just his imagination.
But... now he had another chance to find out for sure!
Seeing that he clearly wanted to do something, Yun Sheng’s back instantly tensed.
"What are you trying to do?"
The man raised an eyebrow, but he didn’t stop walking.
"What am I trying to do?" he repeated slowly, the smile on his lips growing more suggestive. "I just want to try... that feeling from last time again."
Yun Sheng’s heart tightened, and she turned to run.
But she was blocked before she could even take a single step.
The man closed in on her, looking down from his superior height.
"Don’t run," his voice was low, as if coaxing a frightened little animal. "I’m not going to hurt you."
Yun Sheng didn’t believe him for a second.
But she couldn’t escape.
He was an SSS-level Sentinel. Even in a dream, his power was not something she could contend with.
Just then, the man leaned a little closer, raised his hand, and gently tapped his fingertip against the center of her forehead.
"Don’t be nervous," he said. "I just want to confirm something."
As soon as he finished speaking, Yun Sheng felt his spiritual power slowly approaching.
It was very cold.
As cold as a spring in the dead of night, as cold as a thin layer of frost under the moonlight.
But when it wrapped around her, it carried an inexplicable gentleness.
It was probing, waiting for her response.
The man watched her, the amber-gold light in his eyes growing brighter and brighter.
"Last time, when you were the one who actively entangled with me," his voice was a few degrees lower than before, "do you remember what it felt like?"
Of course Yun Sheng remembered.
That feeling of their spiritual powers intertwining was so intimate it was as if their very souls were merging.
She gritted her teeth and said sternly, "Last time was a last resort. I only did it to stall for time... The entanglement of spiritual power is too intimate. I don’t even know you. I won’t do something like that again!"
She no longer needed to steal other people’s abilities in her dreams. Si Jin was by her side now, and she could with him...
Then, her spiritual power would naturally solidify over time, and her strength would grow.
Hearing her words, the man raised an eyebrow slightly.
"Don’t know me? We’ve met twice already. How can you say you don’t know me?"
Yun Sheng was at a loss for words.
’Twice?’
The first time was in the alley when she was being chased by Scarface and his men. He appeared and disappeared for no reason.
The second time was in the dense forest. He abducted her and almost invaded her spiritual landscape.
’That counts as knowing each other?’
"I don’t even know your name. Doesn’t that count as not knowing you?"
Seeing Yun Sheng’s earnest expression, the man suddenly let out a soft laugh.
"Xing Che."
He gave his name freely, his gaze fixed on her face as if waiting for her reaction.
Yun Sheng was taken aback for a moment.
’Xing Che?’
’That name... I’ve never heard it, nor have I seen it in the original book.’
He’d said before that he wasn’t from the Star Alliance. Where on earth did he come from?!
"So, do we know each other now?" he asked.
Yun Sheng snapped back to reality and met Xing Che’s smiling eyes, but the wariness in her heart didn’t lessen one bit.
’So what if I know his name?’
She still didn’t know where he came from, who he was, or why he was interested in her.
More importantly, she didn’t know if he was hostile toward her, or if he would harm her!
"Even if we do," Yun Sheng took a deep breath, steadying her voice, "we still can’t do... that. You’re a Sentinel. If you want to experience the entanglement of spiritual power, go find your guide."
Xing Che held up his hands, his reply unusually blunt. "I don’t have a guide."
Yun Sheng could only bite the bullet and say, "Then go find one."
Xing Che looked at her, and a strange light suddenly flickered in his eyes.
He didn’t answer immediately. He just stared at Yun Sheng with growing intensity, making her skin crawl.
"Then can I find you? You’re a guide, after all. I can pursue you." His voice was slow and leisurely, but it carried a terrifyingly serious undertone. "What do you like? What kind of courtship do you prefer?"
