Every Sentinel I Dreamed of Came Looking for Me
Chapter 162: Only You Are My Sentinel
Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Only You Are My Sentinel
Yun Sheng’s eyelashes trembled lightly.
She hadn’t fully recovered from the dizzy spell. Her consciousness felt hazy, as if submerged in warm water.
But the warm touch on her neck was too distinct. Si Jin’s breath washed over her skin—urgent, domineering, and carrying a hint of inexplicable grievance.
"Si Jin..."
Yun Sheng called his name softly, her voice husky and gentle, as if she had just woken up.
Si Jin’s body stiffened slightly.
He lifted his head and met her eyes, which were still somewhat unfocused.
A thin film of moisture veiled her eyes, and the corners were tinged with a faint red, making it look as though she’d been bullied relentlessly.
"You’re awake?" Si Jin’s voice was extremely hoarse.
Yun Sheng blinked, and her awareness slowly returned.
She remembered what had just happened: the strange man, the intertwining of their spiritual power, and the feeling that had made her whole body go weak...
Then she realized she was being held tightly in Si Jin’s arms.
’Looks like my stalling tactic worked after all. Si Jin came for me.’
"Si Jin, you..."
Yun Sheng was about to ask something, but before the words could leave her mouth, her lips were sealed.
Si Jin’s kiss descended, laced with obvious urgency and jealousy.
Caught off guard by his kiss, Yun Sheng subconsciously tried to push him away. But the moment her hands pressed against his chest, he gripped her wrists and pinned them behind her back.
He deepened the kiss.
It was as if he were trying to confirm something, or perhaps, to declare something.
Yun Sheng’s breathing grew ragged.
Si Jin’s kiss was too hot, his embrace too tight. His scent enveloped her completely, leaving her with no escape.
He only pulled back slightly when she was almost out of breath.
His forehead rested against hers, his scorching breath fanning across her face.
"You smell like him," Si Jin’s voice was unbelievably hoarse, tinged with a mix of grievance and displeasure. "I don’t like it."
Yun Sheng froze for a moment. Before she could react, his lips descended again.
He ravaged her swollen lips, then traced a path down her jawline to the side of her neck, and finally to her gently rising collarbone.
His scorching lips pressed against her skin, leaving a trail of wet, hot marks.
His hands weren’t idle either. They slowly moved up from her waist, feeling her body tremble through the thin combat suit.
"Si Jin..." Yun Sheng’s voice trembled. "Don’t..."
"Don’t what?"
Si Jin lifted his head, his deep, dark blue eyes staring straight at her, swirling with emotions that threatened to overflow.
Displeasure, jealousy, lingering fear, and a hint of grievance he couldn’t hide.
"Yun Sheng, this is the second time I’ve seen you with another man... I can’t take it anymore!"
Yun Sheng was left speechless.
’If he put it that way, it was true...’
First Bai Ye, and now that strange man. Who could possibly endure that?
Seeing her obvious look of guilt, the jealousy in Si Jin’s eyes intensified.
He lowered his head and gave her neck a gentle bite.
It didn’t hurt, but the tickling sensation made Yun Sheng shudder and instinctively shrink her neck.
"You’re mine."
His muffled voice came from the crook of her neck, laced with a childish stubbornness, as if he had suffered the world’s greatest injustice.
"Don’t let anyone else touch you. Don’t act like that with anyone else. Don’t..."
He couldn’t continue.
Because Yun Sheng had suddenly raised her hands to gently cup his face.
He was forced to look up and meet her gaze.
The mist in her eyes hadn’t yet dissipated, but now they were fixed on him with such earnestness that his heart skipped a beat.
"It’s my fault,"
she said softly, her thumb gently stroking his cheek as if soothing a large, bristling cat.
Then, she tilted her head up slightly and took the initiative to kiss him.
Her lips were light, soft.
When the kiss landed, it was like a feather brushing against the surface of water.
Si Jin’s breath hitched instantly.
Yun Sheng pulled back just a bit, her forehead touching his, her nose brushing against his.
Her cheeks were flushed and the corners of her eyes were still moist from before, but those sparkling eyes were focused on him and him alone.
"Only you," her voice was soft, but each word was clear. "Only you are my Sentinel."
Si Jin’s Adam’s apple bobbed violently.
"I’ll only be like this with you," she continued, her fingers gently tracing his brow bone. "With that man just now, I was only stalling for time. Who told you and Bai Ye to be so preoccupied with fighting that you didn’t even notice someone else lurking in the shadows, who then snatched me away?"
Yun Sheng paused, a hint of complaint in her tone.
"His spiritual power almost invaded my spiritual landscape, did you know that?"
Something finally changed in Si Jin’s eyes.
The swirling jealousy and displeasure were washed away by her words, replaced by self-reproach and remorse.
He really had been completely focused on the fight, not noticing someone was hiding in the shadows.
If that man had really done something to Yun Sheng...
Si Jin didn’t dare to think further.
"...I’m sorry," he said hoarsely.
Hearing his unhesitating apology, Yun Sheng’s lips finally curved into a smile.
"Next time you get into a fight, keep an eye on me."
Watching the smile play on her lips, Si Jin felt as if something had gently tickled his heart.
Itchy.
Soft.
It stirred his heart, making it restless.
"It won’t happen again," he said in a low voice, hoarse yet earnest. "I promise!"
The moment the words left his mouth, Si Jin lowered his head again and kissed Yun Sheng’s crimson lips.
This time, it wasn’t to vent his grievance and jealousy, nor was it a declaration of sovereignty. Instead, it was filled with the preciousness of having her back, and a deep-seated desire to merge her into his very bones.
Yun Sheng was breathless from his kiss, but her hands slowly crept up to his shoulders, as if offering herself to him, allowing him to kiss her even more deeply.
Si Jin’s hand clasped her waist, pulling her even closer into his embrace.
They pressed closer and closer, the air growing hotter.
Just then, Yun Sheng suddenly felt something nudge her foot.
She didn’t react at first, but after her foot was nudged several more times in a row, she subconsciously opened her eyes and looked down.
She saw the Holy Light White Tiger had approached at some point and was now nudging the top of her foot with its big, furry head.
Its golden beastly eyes gazed at her pitifully as a low whine rumbled in its throat, sounding utterly wronged.
Nearby, the Abyssal Giant Wolf, not to be outdone, squeezed in, trying to shove the White Tiger aside with its head.
The White Tiger was pushed away slightly but immediately pushed back, using its head to drive the giant wolf away.
The two spiritual bodies jostled back and forth, creating a chaotic scene at Yun Sheng’s feet.
Having been pushed too hard, the White Tiger finally plopped down on the ground, stared pitifully at Yun Sheng, and let out a long whine from its throat.
It sounded even more aggrieved than Si Jin had earlier.
Yun Sheng: "..."
A vein throbbed in Si Jin’s temple.
He turned his head to look at the two spiritual bodies vying for attention, then looked at the still-flushed Yun Sheng in his arms, and suddenly let out a cold snort.
"Yun Sheng, did you see that?"
His voice was cool and laced with a snide, passive-aggressive tone.
"You were kidnapped, and Bai Ye only sent his spiritual body over. What a great guy he is!"
