Eternal Life Starts from Tai Chi
Chapter 707 644: Constant Targeting, A Matter of Course
Han Bingyu did not disappoint Yang Chan. With his help, she passed the examination for First-level Alchemist and had now joined the Spirit Medicine Tower to work for him.
Meanwhile, on Chiyu Peak, Yang Chan had already arranged for Xu Gaocen and others to join and occupy several key positions. He was also gradually arranging spots for the Merak Saintess's people.
Yang Chan began placing his personnel by starting with high-level positions, replacing the previous staff. This caused some issues at first, but with Yang Chan's methods and Fang Zhi'an's assistance, these problems were resolved with ease and barely caused a ripple.
As these personnel changes were made, the resistance Yang Chan faced grew progressively weaker.
The lower a person's position, the less trouble they could stir up. Besides, he had people watching them, ready to remove anyone who stepped out of line.
In the Pill Pavilion, Yang Chan also selected some people with clean backgrounds. Of course, he didn't trust them much, so he had them watched as well. This was to prevent infiltration by hostile forces, but more importantly, to stop them from causing trouble and disrupting his plans.
Yang Chan had also exchanged for some elixirs from the Merak Sacred Land, trying out both External Refining and Inner Refining types. They increased his Daily Potential Point Collection by another 4.8, raising it from 20.4 to 25.2. These were common elixirs within the Merak Sacred Land, so consuming more of them would not yield any further increases.
There were also some less common elixirs, but collecting them would take time. Besides, they weren't available in large quantities, so they weren't Yang Chan's primary target.
An increase of 4.8 to his Daily Potential Point Collection wasn't a huge amount. However, before he started taking Bone Marrow Cleansing Level elixirs, his daily collection was only 12.8. That meant this recent gain alone was an increase of more than a third of his original rate. If he factored in the less common elixirs, his daily collection could rise even more.
However, he considered these to be just bonus gains. Since he couldn't get them right away, Yang Chan didn't plan to spend too much time on them. After all, his real target was still the Bone Marrow Cleansing Level elixirs.
A single Bone Marrow Cleansing Level elixir offered more benefit than all those External and Inner Refining elixirs combined, so the choice between them was simple for him.
If he could refine an elixir to assist with the Second Bone Marrow Cleansing, he estimated his Daily Potential Point Collection could break through thirty, marking another qualitative leap.
To reach the Second Bone Marrow Cleansing in his Martial Arts Cultivation, he would need to consume far more Potential Points just to maintain his efficient progress. Yang Chan naturally wanted to acquire more Potential Points to accelerate his cultivation. After all, the stronger he was, the safer he would feel.
In fact, Yang Chan was also interested in the Merak Sacred Land's Longevity Elixirs. He had experienced their benefits firsthand—they provided a significant amount of Potential Points. However, these elixirs were also extremely precious in the Merak Sacred Land, and collecting them would take time.
Furthermore, they were not elixirs one could take daily, so it was impossible to use them for a sustained increase in his Daily Potential Point Collection.
Therefore, Yang Chan didn't make acquiring Longevity Elixirs a top priority. He would try to get some if he happened to come across them and the opportunity was right.
Whether for the Potential Points or the extra Lifespan, it would be a worthwhile exchange. Even though his current Lifespan was already very long, he certainly wouldn't object to living longer.
'When it comes to Lifespan, the more, the better.'
'Until one achieves immortality, the larger that number is, the more at ease one feels. You never have to worry about your time running out.'
He had seen many people do desperate, crazy things as their Lifespan neared its end, and he had no desire to ever face that situation himself.
Yang Chan didn't know what choices he would make in that predicament, but he felt the best course of action was to ensure he never had to find out. Then he wouldn't need to make the choice at all.
He also instructed Han Bingyu to keep an eye out for any information on this front and to notify him immediately if she heard anything.
"Pharmacist Yang, there's an issue with this exchange list. This person has made this exchange before. Normally, they can't exchange for these Spirit Medicines again within half a year unless they spend their Contribution Points, but this person doesn't have enough."
"And he seems to be one of the Quasi-Saint Son's men!"
Inside the Spirit Medicine Tower, Xu Gaocen had found Yang Chan to consult him on the matter.
In truth, it was sometimes possible to make an early exchange for needed Spirit Medicines in the Spirit Medicine Tower, but this wasn't strictly in accordance with the official regulations.
In situations like this, it usually came down to the discretion of the person in charge of the Spirit Medicine Tower. It wouldn't be an issue if they approved it.
"Follow the Spirit Medicine Tower's regulations to the letter,"
Yang Chan said without hesitation.
There were always people trying to exploit loopholes. If it had been one of the Merak Saintess's people, he would have simply turned a blind eye. For other factions, however, his stance was firm.
'So what if I offend the Quasi-Saint Son's people? I've already offended them. I just need to choose my targets carefully and keep the pressure on.'
'Ever since he became the Steward of the Spirit Medicine Tower and purged the old staff, he had already offended most of the Quasi-Saint Son's faction. He didn't mind adding a few more to the list.'
'As long as the Merak Saintess remains secure, my own position is safe. Once I advance to become a Top Level Pharmacist, I will no longer need to rely on her.'
'This is a transitional period, so I have to be unwavering in my approach.'
Before long, the pharmacist was taken away. He tried to cause a scene, but the men Yang Chan had prepared dragged him off immediately. They even announced his transgressions publicly. This was, in a way, a show of force, and the target chosen for this display was one of the Quasi-Saint Son's men.
